Based on an alphabet found in a 19th-century penmanship journal, Ale created hundreds of additional, stylistically complementary letterforms. Frogurt is a soft, plump, rounded slab serif font full of fun! Its fat curves make me think of frozen yogurt, and I've always preferred the shorthand "frogurt" to "fro-yo." I was inspired by a 30-year-old hand-carved wooden sign; when I went to try to find a font with a similar look, I couldn't really find anything soft and funky enough! It was a real Goldilocks situation: that one was too thin, that one's corners were too sharp, that one's baseline was too strict. So since I couldn't find something I liked, I made something I liked! I gave Frogurt big pillowy slab serifs, a slightly irregular baseline, and just enough tilt and variation to be fun while still keeping things really clean and readable. The outlines are cleaned up and sharp, so Frogurt will work well for both printing and cutting. Frogurt clocks in with just over 570 glyphs total, including all of the basics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and a ton of punctuation), plus over 310 extended Latin characters for language support, and over 50 alternates and ligatures to add some variety and flair. Frogurt is PUA-encoded for easy access to all characters.

P22 Brass Script is a new font from an old source. This script font was discovered in a booklet from Dornemann & Co. of Magdeburg Germany, circa 1910. The book was titled Messingschriften fur Handvergoldung, which roughly translates to “Brass types for hand foil stamping.” The mini catalog called this type simply “Script.” It has not been previously digitized or seen in standard metal type form. The antique specimen book featured most of the characters needed for a full alphabet, but a number of letters were not shown. Since no other examples of this style could be found, P22 enlisted the assistance of master calligrapher Michael Clark to draw the missing characters in the same style as the original. The style is very loosely based on the secretarial hands and reminiscent of “French Hand” with a very early 20th century, pre-modern feel. It has an unusual flow that is neither too casual nor too formal. The font would be useful for wedding invitations or packaging and advertising. There was a big climate protest in Amsterdam a couple of days ago. During Greta’s speech, a man jumped onto the stage and grabbed her microphone, because he didn’t approve of what she was saying. Some English media referred to him as ‘the stage invader’, which I really liked. Long story short: I made a ‘protest-ish’ font, using cheap black finger paint from the local store and a brush from my kids. The result is a rather unique font called Stage Invader. And yes, you can use it for your protest signs too!

I already toyed with the idea of creating a font loosely based on my son Sam's handwriting and I figured Orenji would be a good name for it. Orenji is a fun, cute and extravagant font.
