🏆 Selected for Tipos Latinos 8. 🏆 Hiii Typography 2018 Merit Award. Rocher was designed while looking for an answer to a simple question: what would a typeface look like if it was made of stone? It certainly would look solid, but did we have to add cracks and rubble so it would resemble rocks? We didn’t think so. We decided to tackle the problem a different way. We added corners where there usually aren’t any and threw some unusual letterforms into the mix. The result is a typeface that feels like stone, but if you look closely there is nothing inherently stony about it. Unexpected corners provide just the right amount of roughness, while unusual letterforms give the text an informal aesthetic, traces of something naive and handmade. A family was born when the sturdy letterforms were turned into a series of playful layers. With 9 fonts in total, Rocher can be mixed and matched to create unique layered compositions that add depth to the layout. We designed Rocher to be used in logotypes, packaging, mobile apps and headlines. We are confident you will find another handful of scenarios where it can shine.

Time to grunge it up again with another detailed masterpiece from Guillaume Séguin. Character set has been greatly expanded, ready for some rough and tough designs in many languages. Rock on! ITC Kulukundis is the work of designer Daniel Pelavin, a square, connecting script which looks as though it could have been cast in shiny chrome for the side of a 1950s American roadster. Pelavin based his design very loosely on a vertical French script but the overall look is all his own. Unlike calligraphic scripts, the lower case letters all connect in exactly the same way and the straight diagonal junctures give the typeface its broad, spacious character and keep it locked into a continuous line. ITC Kulukundis could also be used to create a decorative border for special occasions.

Henry VII draws it's inspiration from an inscription in Westminster Abbey dedicated to the memory of His Late Majesty of the same appellation. However, it is also in large part in the best tradition of 19th and 20th century Tudor revival. The inscription consisted wholly and completely of Capital Letter forms and we have 'imagined' all the rest in similar style, so Henry VII is very much a Mock Tudor work. Never the less, we feel it is great fun and ideal for lending an aire of 'Olde England' to any piece of design. Best used with 'Greensleeves' playing ever so softly in the background!

Steel Grrrder is best categorised as a constructivist sans family. The character shapes are sharp, angular and slightly condensed - it’s a rigid, no-frills, no-curves, mega-metallic design. Legible? Not really. Readable? I think not. In your faceable? Absolutely! This is a tough display typeface, designed to work in the most demanding typographic situations. It won’t buckle under pressure or wilt when the heat’s turned up. Forged from carbon steel and wrapped in a layer of Graphene, Steel Grrrder is unashamedly rugged, a rock-hard pound-for-pound boxer specialising in thumping knockouts. According to the two most popular statistics companies in England and North America, eight out of every ten people like to dance. Talk about useless information! But with such a market statistic, we thought there would be some collections of dingbats out there with dancers in them. And surprise, surprise; we found not even one! So this was our opportunity to be the first to issue such a collection, and we are very pleased with the results. Dancebats is a font of 75 silhouettes of people dancing. All kinds of dancing. Ballet, techno, slam, rock, swing, aerobic, hip hop, jump, lounge, and much more. Take a close look at the silhouettes and find out why these are shapes that belong on every party design, bar none. The Dancebats outlines were tweaked for use at all sizes, from the very large, as in posters and signs, to the medium height, as in party flyers, invitations and publications, to the very small, as in web banners and pin-on buttons. Cíclope is a typeface family designed by Carlos Fabián Camargo in 2012 and used to write the headlines. Its idea is based on an army of stone soldiers that with their size and strength cause earthquakes. Under this concept he obtained stencil and sans serif letters with monstrous shapes and torn counterforms. Its usefulness as well as readability consists in imitate rocks with scars and cracks. For that reason, Cíclope family has three sizes, each with their respective italics distributed at different levels of corrosion. In addition, each file contains 260 glyphs useful for designing words and phrases with systematically eroded treatments for advertisement material. Thus Cíclope works as a raw material in the exploration of new graphic design. Finally, Cíclope concept has grotesque, geometric and humanistics letters roots that seem disastrous but each and every detail has been planned with high definition drawing. Most importantly, it expresses a big amount of grunge style with cracked edges and medium contrast between thin and thick strokes. In that sense, the writing seems impaired and special for design of logos, posters, flyers, brochures and worn, crusty or demolished graphic design.
