This new addition to my Video Store font series takes a scratched lettering style and pairs it with a wildly spontaneous brush font with horrific effect! Another typical Art Deco font from Nick Curtis. Uppercase only, but with alternate letterforms in the lowercase positions. I have completely redesigned all the diacritics (which were way too flimsy for this robust design) before expanding the character set in the usual fashion. Nick Curtis says: "Back in the Olden Days of Graphic Design B.C. (before computers), type freaks used to wait in anxious anticipation for each new release of the Letraset catalog. The inspiration for this font, Premiere Lightline, was one such release, and probably help spur my interest in Deco designs. The original font was VERY light indeed, suitable only for use in large sizes. My version is beefier, and includes an entire lower case of alternate letterforms, making this (at least) two fonts in one. The name is the 40’s hep talk equivalent of “Cool!”". Gothic Tuscan One is a all-cap condensed gothic with round terminals and decorative “tuscan” center spurs. It was first shown by William H. Page of Norwich, Connecticut among his wood type specimen pages of 1859. Gothic Tuscan One exemplifies the strength of decorative wood types: large, simple type forms that provide the visual boldness sought by advertisers of the Victorian period. While our marketing has gotten so very sophisticated, there is always a place for simple, visually strong typeface. Although about 14 miles inland, Norwich lies at the head of the Thames River. The river is both wide and deep, and therefore was not bridged in the early 20th century. From the 17th century until then, if you wanted to get from Groton on the west bank to the whaling port of New London on the east bank by land, you had to had to go by way of Norwich. Because of its size, the Thames is navigable all the way from Norwich to New London. Docks were built in Norwich around 1685 and the city became Connecticut’s 2nd largest port by 1800. With the construction of the Norwich & Worcester Railroad in 1835, Page could easily ship his wood type north by rail or south by coastal schooner. Included with our font, Gothic Tuscan One, are two 19th century printer’s ornaments of sailing ships similar to those that sailed up the Thames to Norwich. There is also a more contemporary glyph of a whale, looking quite pleased that the only whaling ship left in Connecticut is the Charles W. Morgan, permanently moored at Mystic Seaport. Added glyphs for the 1250 Central Europe, the 1252 Turkish and the 1257 Baltic Code Pages. Added glyphs to complete standard 1252 Western Europe Code Page. Special glyphs relocated and assigned Unicode codepoints, some in Private Use area. Total of 332 glyphs. 2. Added OpenType GSUB layout features: pnum, ornm and dlig. 3. Added 330 kerning pairs. 4. Revised vertical metrics for improved cross-platform line spacing. 5. Redesigned mathamatical operators 6. Included of both tabular (std) & proportional numbers (optional). 7. Refined various glyph outlines. Please note that some older applications may only be able to access the Western Europe character set (approximately 221 glyphs). The zip package includes two versions of the font at no extra charge. There is an OTF version which is in Open PS (Post Script Type 1) format and a TTF version which is in Open TT (True Type)format. Orto is a type family of sans serif fonts in eight weights. It's a humanist typeface with real cursive, containing both Roman and Italic styles. The letters are designed to look good on screen, they have a bit narrower proportions and simple shapes. Their structure is based on flat horizontal and vertical strokes, which are emphasized wherever possible. That’s where the name comes from: Orto is an abbreviation of the word orthogonal. Thanks to its narrow width, the typeface is less space-consuming and adapts well to the screens of smaller devices. It is legible in small sizes, thanks to the larger x-height. The characteristic details, like bent ends of diagonal strokes, stand out when used in larger sizes. Orto can be used equally good in print and its overall neutral look fits different contexts. However, its character is pretty recognizable. Orto contains Latin and Cyrillic script and covers six codepages: Latin 1, Latin 2, Cyrillic, Turkish, Windows Baltic and MacOS Roman. It has basic OpenType features like ligatures, oldstyle numerals, proportional and tabular lining figures, fractions, superiors, etc. Capital German sharp S shows up when the lowercase is typed between two uppercase letters, and the Contextual Alternates feature is turned on. The Stylistic Set 01 changes the shape of the Cyrillic b. The Stylistic Set 02 is a shortcut for using Serban Cyrillic alternatives that differ from Russian in cursive.

If you were you looking for something delicious, a font that covers a really wide range of uses and always looks amazing, Fabiola should be your choice. Although it may look as another of my scripts with juicy swashes, this time I explored in depth the pairing and interaction with capital letters for more unique results. Why? We are going through some crazy days where the number of people interested in letters is only growing. We see lettering everywhere: I can say that finally our field is shouting out loud; letters are THE protagonist more than ever. Hence the need of combining and pairing different styles is booming. Fabiola Script and Fabiola Caps were done in a way that they seem to need each other. There's nothing better than the above images to prove this. But, how does it work? The big swashes of the Script style were designed so they can surround, wrap and mingle with the Caps styles. The smaller swashes are meant to be used when the Script is alone. Simple, right?
