Heer Halewijn (The Song of Lord Halewijn) is a 13th century Dutch folk tale which survives in folk ballad. The story tells of a man called Halewijn, who lives in the woods and who lures pretty women with his songs (whom he then kills). One day a princess visits Halewijn, but when he wants to kill her, she requests he remove his robe, so as not to stain it with her blood. He obliges and when he is undressing, the princess seizes his sword and chops off his head. Halewyn is a handmade font, which was loosely based on my Languedoc font and Garamond. Use it for product packaging, books and posters. Comes in 4 weights (with italics) and a ballad full of diacritics.

Each of the fonts was carefully digitized from the handwriting of different homeless people who agreed to participate in this initiative. Luis is a shy, retiring person who takes great pleasure in the little things in life such as walking in the mountains or celebrating the victories of his football team, Barça. After four years living in Barcelona, Luis found himself in a position he’d never imagined. “The street’s much worse now, there’s more trouble, there’s more tension,” says Luís. In the street he had to learn, as he always had, to move fast, to find a place to sleep and something to eat. Luís is one of those people who don’t let circumstances mould him, but adapts to them and always tries to do his best.

The calligraphic ITC Regallia is, like ITC Samual, a work of Phill Grimshaw. Generous capitals contrast beautifully with reserved lower case letters whose flowing ascenders and descenders create the flow which characterizes this font. ITC Regallia is graceful and almost poetic, its capitals also suited for use as initials. ITC Regallia includes several ligatures and is best used for short and middle length texts in point sizes of 12 and larger.

Martin Wilke designed the dynamic calligraphic typeface New Berolina in 1965. The light line of the strokes and the strong stroke contrast lets New Berolina dance across the page. Broad, generous capitals complement beautifully the narrower lower case characters with their low x-height. The capitals can also be used as initials. Used carefully and with generous line spacing, New Berolina will lend any text a fresh, lively look.

Locarno is the work of British designer Alan Meeks and is his adaptation of Rudolf Koch's original design for the Klingspor type foundry. The unique design of the roman weight features geneous capitals and a reserved lowercase. The italic capitals have an open, engraved decoration that combines perfectly with the lowercase with its tall, elegant ascenders. Locarno is a typeface with the sophisticated look of the 1920s and 30s.
