CHARACTERISTICS The font name is a pun on the Ger­man word "Kitt­chen" (English prison/jail) and the English "Hell’s Kit­chen". The cha­rac­ter of the font looks as though the scum here — the guilty and inno­cent pri­soners carved/scratched their signs and mes­sa­ges at the pri­son walls of their jail cell. The cold, creepy and scratchy cha­rac­ter of the hand­writ­ten type­face is a very uni­que gloomy atmosphere. The Chickenz dingbat font is a series of symbols based inspired by the wild west, from cowboy silhouettes and playing cards to a series of office shapes that can be used in any corporate layout. When I created my first website, I loved using vintage sewing pattern illustrations in my designs. Thinking back on it, I wanted to create a dingbat inspired by those images and Sewing Patterns is the result. The font features ladies-fashions in silhouette form for uppercase and lowercase letters and childrens- styles for the numbers.

Allektra is a humanist sans serif with a modern feel. It is not as whimsical as many of my fonts, but there are many special dingbats for bullets, and so on. It has oldstyle numbers and the small caps versions have lining numbers and small caps numbers. The Fat version is especially interesting and useful.

A misprinted sans serif loosely based on Phillip Cavette’s 1999 font 4990810, but with re-drawn outlines, more distress marks, a neater vertical aspect and no baseline irregularity. Unlike its inspiration, Sans Culottes is a complete font which includes a lower case, accented characters and as many dingbats as you can shake a stick at.

Do you enjoy bicycles? So much that when you aren't riding them you spend your time on bike related design? Then this font is for you. BIKES is a dingbat font that lives up to its name. The capital letters are detailed silhouettes of cycles while the lowercase are simplified versions for smaller uses.

Florens is a flourished, semi-formal script that designer Garrett Boge modeled after his own italic calligraphy, which is a contemporary version of the chancery script of the Italian Renaissance. Zipper is a striking font designed in 1970 by Phillip Kelly for the Letraset dry transfer sheets and it shows itself as a true child of the 1970s. The most distinguishing characteristic is the markedly robust horizontal stroke, heavier by far than the verticals. In a line of text, the figures present a close, stripe-like line, strongly dominated by the horizontal. Zipper is meant exclusively as a headline font and should be used in larger point sizes to highlight its unique, eye-catching characteristics.

In 1978 I went to work at Mergenthaler as a letter drawer. Being an inquisitive sort I decided that I should take a stab at this type design 'stuff'. I drew 25 or 30 glyphs before the work found its way to a high shelf in a dark corner of my apartment. Just 23 years later I found the drawings on a different shelf, in a different home, in a different city and decided to finish what I had started. I'm still trying to deal with my predisposition toward procrastination but I've finished the font. The name of the font is the last name of somebody I played softball with before I moved to Beantown. Ronnie Geis was one of the courageous firefighters we lost on September 11th when the WTC collapsed.
