Glodok is a single-weight display typeface. It is bold, heavy and fun to play around with. It’s eye catching but also blends well when in use. It is retro-inspired and strikes a nice balance between formal and playful. The name itself comes from the oldest Chinatown in Jakarta that is also considered the biggest in Indonesia, the place from where the designer took many inspirations.

I love the trends in handwritten calligraphy and wanted to play with playful lettering. I've heard from many of my customers that they don't use Open Type software and feel limited in the cool features of OT scripts because of this, so I've replaced the | (bar key) with a left-sided tail to start the lowercase r and s in words that begin with those letters.

Cary Grant was one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors, playing romantic leads, dramatic parts and showing off his impeccable timing in screwball comedies. A perfect example of this is Frank Capra’s “Arsenic and Old Lace” from 1942. Legestue is danish and means playroom. But perhaps that translation is too direct. Legestue is a place where you can come with your kids and play with other kids. Kinda like a kindergarten, but in much smaller scale. I attended a Legestue when my kids were like 2 years old. But that's a looong time ago! I like the idea of just dropping by and see who's playing and who's around. And the same goes for this font - each letter is off and different, and quite playful. Also, the letters has a crunchy outline, which made me think of some of the cookies I ate at the Legestue :)

The other day I was at a market with my kids and they had this really retro kind of circus thing. The signs and posters there, were designed in a really sloppy and poor manner - but they all had a lot of naive charm!
