In the world of webfonts, Condensed proportions are key to maximizing your page's premium real estate while keeping your copy clean and catchy as you cut down to the essentials. Soon after the introduction of webfonts, I began to see Insigne's Le Havre used frequently for web headlines, not so much for its Art Deco look as for its more compact proportions. There seemed to be a need for a font that was designed to be used solely for the web's unique constraints. Enter Coegit Sans. Coegit is built specifically for web applications. Its highly Condensed forms range from thin--offering the greatest number of uses--to the attractive, accenting black. With three widths--Compressed, Compact, and the widest, Condensed --the family holds a total of sixteen fonts. The typefamily has also been hinted for excellent, onscreen display quality, even at small sizes. Overall, its lighter, humanist features provide the reader a more congenial welcome than its square, sans-serif counterparts can offer. Coegit is equipped for complex professional typography with stems, small caps and plenty of alts, including titling capitals. The face includes a number of numeral sets, including fractions, old-style and lining figures with superiors and inferiors. OpenType-capable applications such as Quark or the Adobe suite can take full advantage of automatically replacing ligatures and alternates. Here is a decorative condensed antique design that is sure to fit a variety of contemporary situations. The Bruce Type Foundry (later acquired by V. B. Munson) developed this wonderfully shaded Tuscan in the 1880s - or possibly earlier. It was known back then as Style No. 1050 and carried a pronounced three-dimensional look with a thin hairline at the bottom and right of each stroke. It is best to use Frisco Antique in large display sizes because it is easy to lose these delicate hairlines. A lowercase and several alternate characters have been provided for your convenience. Frisco Antique Display is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

Campeche is an expressive yet functional typeface family. Seeking to express its beauty, it twists the conventions of classic typography when necessary. Campeche finds its inspiration in the grotesque typefaces of the late 19th century coupled with a typical Latin American playful sense that gives it a modern freshness. The initial form arises from the idea of expanding Seriguela, evolving along the way, becoming its own system with a unique personality. Campeche is designed for today's requirements. It is available in two styles and three widths, from condensed to extended, with 9 weights each, totaling 54 fonts, in addition to the variable version. Campeche is a comprehensive typographic system that provides versatility for almost any use. It can be used for packaging, editorial, branding... etc. The mix of widths and between the normal and display versions can generate complex graphic parts or systems with different levels of hierarchy, without losing unity.

Poruka is slanted script typeface with connected letters with gently condensed look. Letters are designed as monoline forms with decent dose of elegancy and stylistic uniformity. Poruka is imagined mainly as typeface for shorter texts or headlines, where text needs to stand out from other elements of content. It can be used successfully both as webfont and on printed materials – all kinds of invitations, labels, packages, posters and editorial use. Poruka comes with two Stylistic Sets – 01 which activates uppercase letters with full font height (from the top of ascender to the bottom of descender) and 02 – which activates handwritten forms on "b", "d", "h" and "l" letters. Also, Poruka is equipped with Swashes and Discretionary Ligatures which doesn't really represent classical pack of expected ligatures, but more as graphical version of a couple of words like "yes", "no", "wait", "ciao" and a few more.

Smashed Typeface is a reversed-contrast, slab serif, display font. Was inspired by the old west days that we can often see in printing, circus posters and wanted notices in western movies, even tho the style was really used in many parts of the world during that period. This style is sometimes called as "circus letter" too. Was designed to have a modern look, using straighter lines and an extended style, can be used on various situations like posters, logos for restaurants, alternative business like an old washing station (as you can see on the next images), music bands etc. I believe that is a promising typography that can be used by various designers in a lot of diverse project. It counts with 226 multi language characters, one weight on version 1.0, on a next version I hope to take this project to another level, creating a variable typeface from condensed to really extended weights. It would complete this typography and eliminate the limits of use.

MONOLOGUE is a simple, condensed sans serif font with bold and complex personality. It was purposely crafted to be used in large point sizes, although it doesn't lose it's magic in small point sizes. Hand lettering from the 1958 movie poster for “Vertigo” (designed by Saul Bass) was the inspiration for the digital font Sinister Undertones JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The quirkiness of this irregular, squared-edge sans – despite its simplicity – perfectly captured the mood and drama of Alfred Hitchcock’s film production.

Sniplash is a lively font inspired by cartoons and comics of the 1960s and '70s. Casual and organic, this font features curly lines and irregular weights in Regular, Light and Bold styles. A 1930s travel poster from American Airlines had the airline’s name in a classic thick-and-thin Art Deco design of hand lettering. With the addition of angular spurs, some of the characters become semi-serif in nature. This type style is now available as Travel Plans JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

The style’s characteristic dark texture is seen mainly in the lowercase, with uniform spacing (where counterspace equals letterspace), shapes that recall the straight, interrupted strokes used in that style of writing, and the peculiar construction of certain letters. On the other hand, the uppercase aims for a more conventional roman construction, making it more legible for modern-day readers. New foundry on the block, Hooper Type, kicks off it's catalogue with a versatile, story-telling serif font. From the vintage record cover, "Music from MR. LUCKY", composed and conducted by Henry Mancini, comes this offbeat and full of life condensed serif typeface. A uniform stroke structure and a light baseline bounce give this typeface a festive yet serious duality of a personality.

Clarendon is the name of a slab-serif typeface that was released in 1845 by Thorowgood and Co. (or Thorowgood and Besley) of London, a letter foundry often known as the Fann Street Foundry. This current design is a somewhat condensed version of the font.

Based on turn-of-the-century advertising type. A condensed, fat-faced display font with a touch of the medieval. The influence of art nouveau is also present in the high-waisted caps and flowing lines, putting the face into the early 20th century.

Burnish Font family comes in 2 distinctive wide and condensed forms. Burnish is a contemporary typeface family with strong stylistic geometric contrasts representing the shifting contemporary aesthetics. Its distinctive stance and wide-open counters allow the right visual consistency for branding and communications projects.

Zesty Lime is a condensed typeface, hand made with a small brush and China ink. Zesty would look good on book covers, posters and packaging - but I guess you're not limited to those three options. Just enjoy! Comes with a generous squeeze of diacritics.

Lino Stamp is a geometrical, sans-serif typeface inspired by Futura Bold Condensed. To produce it, letters were carved into linoleum, inked and impressed on paper – giving a worn and distressed finish. Lino Stamp works particularly well for headings, short paragraphs and scrapbook-style designs.

Another bit of font inspiration came to the attention of Jeff Levine through his friend Gene Gable. An image of vintage packaging for Aquapruf Ear Drum Protectors (swimmer's ear plugs) offered the narrow and condensed lettering that is the basis for Slim Chance JNL.
