This dynamic athletic block has the need for speed. VT Gladius is a display typeface loaded with energy and ready to take off. Each letterform is built on a system of angles that generate a distinct rhythm, drawing the eye through the shape, making every word feel more dynamic. Further reinforcing this are the slightly thicker baseline-adjacent horizontal stems — alluding to the ink-pooling that lower strokes have in traditional penmanship — creating a “bounce” that gives each letter that much more personality. Nono is the nickname of my oldest son, Konstantin. His little brother could not really speak yet, but he was always looking for him and said something to the tune of, "wea is a nono". From that time on I call Konstantin Nono. I designed a handwritten script with his real name, that i named Konstantin. Now I made this slick version of that script – hence – Nono! I made three basic sets of characters plus a smallcaps version. To top things off, I designed a set of endletters that I throw in for free. Everything can be mixed! A nixie tube is a technology from the 50’s used to display numerals that are composed by metal filaments that light up much like a lamp bulb. Due to their beauty these little numerals (0-9) are a love case for any designer, and formally it’s where the inspiration for the Nixin typeface came from.
