Günter Gerhard Lange designed El Greco for Berthold in 1964. This script dresses up informal documents and adds lightness to formal documents.

Günter Gerhard Lange designed this “fun” typeface for Berthold in 1957. Although a departure from his more serious designs, Champion shows Mr. Lange’s diversity.

Academy was designed circa 1910 at the Berthold type foundry (St.-Petersburg). It was based on Sorbonne (H. Berthold, Berlin, 1905), which represented the American Type Founders rework Cheltenham of 1896 (designers Bertram G. Goodhue, Morris F. Benton) and Russian typefaces of the mid-18th century. A low-contrast text typeface with historical flavor. The modern digital version was designed at Poligrafmash type design bureau in 1989 by Lyubov Kuznetsova. Corrections and additions were done later in ParaType in early 2000th. Reworked version with Bold Italic style was released in 2009.

Berthold Wolpe’s innovative design undertaken for Monotype in 1932 suggests the texture of letters cut in wood. Albertus can be seen as Morison’s improvement of Othello, Monotype’s 1928 copy of Neuland, executed by Pierpont.

A set of square capitals developing from the interest in geometric forms stimulated by the Bauhaus, Bank Gothic was designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1930, the same year that Georg Trump designed City for Berthold.

The former hot-metal font Sebaldus Gotisch, a 19th century Berthold in-house design, was carefully redesigned and updated for today’s use. This font contains a long s which you can access by typing alt b or by using the historical alternate OTF feature.

Shabaq is a heavy, ultra black Arabic font. It is suitable for 'Display' and large print use cases, especially billboards and advertisement. It also performs well as a title and header font. Shabaq is a geometrical font based on the charactristics of the traditional Naskh typeface with a perfectly fresh and modern appearance. Shabaq is super-black, dazzles the eyes of the beholder and leaves them deeply influenced. Shabaq supports Arabic, Persian and Kurdish languages.

At the end of the 19th century, the fin de siècle, both Bauer and Berthold released ‚Herkules‘, a heavy Art Nouveau font for ads and posters. This font was carefully redesigned and makes it a great font in Jugendstil surroundings and a splendid partner of the Carlsbad font family.

OHIO is a rough headline type in the tradition of Louis Oppenheimer. It is closely related to Lo-Type from Berthold, redesigned in the 1980s by Erik Spiekermann. Matter of fact, I discovered Ohio while visiting Erik in Berlin, searching his endless archive. Your typeface-looter Gert Wiescher

Warrior is a chunky typeface design inspired by a Russian Egyptian-style block alphabet (original designer unknown). Now available in seven weights (Hairline, Extra Light, Light, Medium, Regular, Bold, Black) in addition to three decorative styles: Shaded (3-dimensional), Inline, and Open. I often experiment with different shadow techniques. One day I accidentally scaled, instead of repositioning, some black text behind the white copy on top and noticed something very different and interesting happen. It was an intriguing effect. It took some clever handiwork to make it work properly across the entire alphabet. And behold, Eclipse was born.

Mauer is a proportional, block, geometric font inspired by the advertisement in the polish weekly from 1937 "Tygodnik powszechny". This typeface family contains 3 styles: Regular, Black and Italics.

The Carlsbad font family is a bringing together of Regina Cursiv and Hansa Cursiv which both had been released by H. Berthold Messinglinienfabrik und Schriftgiesserei around 1895. Both these beautiful Art Nouveau italic fonts come with the following swash alternatives: D, E, G, H, K, S, T, h, k, m, n, s, and z.

This unicase beauty is based on the typeface Vesta, originally designed by Albert Auspurg for H. Berthold AG, Berlin and introduced in 1926. Classic, stylish and elegant, this typeface will add grace and charm to any project. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets.

Designed at ParaType in 1994 by Tatiana Lyskova. Based on Carola Grotesk of H.Berthold and Bauer type foundries (early 20th century) and Boutique of Haas type foundry (Munchenstein, Switzerland). Bold style based on Herkules of H.Berthold foundry (early 20th century) was added for ParaType by Manvel Shmavonyan in 2002. For use in advertising and display typography.

Rundfunk is a condensed font which features an unusual lowercase with an extremely low x-height and high tail ascenders that align with the capitals. It is a reworking of the original designed by Adolf Behrmann for the Berthold type foundry in 1928. Rundfunk font is ideal for projecting the look and mood of the 1930s.

This updating of Berthold’s Ideal Grotesque was supervised at Monotype in 1926 by F.H. Pierpont. With some of the eccentricities in the borrowed original reduced, this series retains enough character to have become one of the world’s great sanserifs.

Please welcome the new grotesque family; slightly more geometric than Block Berthold but much softer than the industrial Din Next, Rockeby includes a lot of stylistic alternates and ligatures to help add character to any type of design. The slightly curved diagonal strokes give the sans serif fonts its unique personality and soft look. Even more - the family has two scripts (4 weights each) which will enhance the design even more. The Bitstream version of Englische Schreibschrift by H. Berthold, 1970–72. An unconnected copperplate script of the English nineteenth-century fashion, so-called Spencerian. Based on pressure pointed quill calligraphy. Unlike other copperplate scripts, the letters in this face do not link up. For use in advertising and display typography in relatively small sizes. Cyrillic version was developed at ParaType in 2000 by Vladimir Yefimov.

Lehmann Egyptian is a font of three styles, based on the pre-revolutionary hand set fonts by Berthold and Lehmann type foundries in St. Petersburg. Designed mainly for display typography, the font works well in small texts too. There's also a quite useful bonus — a stylistic set of historical forms. Lehmann Egyptian was designed by Albert Kapitonov in cooperation with Dmitry Kirsanov and released by ParaType in 2018.
