A ”modern“ Gothic – designed according to principles of modern form in three variations Faber Gotik is a reminiscence of Gutenberg’s first script from around 1450. The heavily broken forms allow further development in the direction of a modern, strongly geometric and less formal type. It should be possible to push the principle of design so far to the limit that a type is created which, from the very start, extinguishes reminders of a dark past. The characters are composed of squares which are lined up straight or in a more or less slanted manner. The resulting corners similar to serifs were removed so that a sans serif type in the true sense without up and down strokes was created. The principle of ”breaking“ was applied according to the historical model. Even the form of the characters is based on the model from the Middle Ages. Only the characters which cannot be created with the principle described were modeled on today's forms. Faber Gotik includes three variations: - Faber Gotik Text — most similar to the historical model - Faber Gotik Gothic — pushes the applied principle of form the furthest - Faber Gotik Capitals —; a Gothic upper case font, contrary to tradition. 555 years after Gutenberg, interest in black-letter typefaces is nearly extinct. They are especially looked down upon in German-speaking countries because they are still associated with ”Nazi“ scripts. But yet, the very forms of blackletter, Gothic, Schwabacher and especially cursive have enormous potential with regard to the development of new advanced font forms.

Quiroga Serif began in 2007 with the name Quadratta Serif. This typography was designed for continuous text, legible at medium and small sizes, with great saving of space, optimized for 6, 8, 10 and 12 points. The morphology is a mix between tradition and innovation; it has a vertical axis, thick serifs, tall x-height, light modulation and a lot of internal space between letters: key to improve legibility at small sizes. Formally, my idea was to make a serif type that had a unique color, this is visible due to the light modulation. This is also complemented with the incorporation of not common, alternative signs. Some parts of the letters that are usually curb or diagonal where made horizontal (for example: a, q, p, etc.), this makes the eye of each character to be wide and unique. The serifs (wedge type) suffered diverse variations during the process. At the begining they where thicker and ended vertically, but this caused a great deal of printing errors. And so we decided to modify them by giving them an angle to avoid visible errors in medium and small sizes. The ch, and ll ligatures where rescued because they are a part of our current spanish alphabet. The historic ligatures and stylistic alternates give different options to users who want different alternatives within a text. The accentuation signs were composed in a middle line above all signs to avoid visual shock. We also gave plenty of importance to small caps numbers, mathematical signs and currency signs so that the could interact well.

Deva Ideal was inspired by women’s beauty. It didn’t come only from the desire to create a new typeface. It also seeks to materialize beauty in a visual form. Instead of imitating the shapes of the female body or other formal attributes, Deva Ideal is an abstract expression of the women’s beauty. The unique character of the typeface is achieved by the use of soft, almost invisibly bent strokes, since one of the priorities of the typeface is not to disturb the eye of the reader with odd design details. Deva Ideal excels in her cold beauty and shows her sex appeal. The soft curves present in Deva Ideal differ from the masculine and technical shapes used in most contemporary typefaces. Deva Ideal has ideal proportions (90 / 60 / 90) and its shapes are essential and simple. Because of this, it is ideal for setting text in all kinds of printed matter: catalogues, books and magazines. Gerard Unger’s new typeface Alverata is a twenty-first-century type-face inspired by the shapes of Romanesque capitals in inscriptions of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, without being a close imitation of them. It is additionally based on the early twentieth-century model, but tweaked so as to prevent blandness and monotony. Alverata performs beautifully in both screen and on paper, delivering excellent legibility. Its letters are open and friendly in small sizes and lively and attractive in large sizes. They are robust, and show refinement in their detail. Unger’s Alverata is an extensive type family, with versions for both formal and informal applications, and with Greek and Cyrillic relatives. Alverata consists of three different fonts: Alverata, Alverata Irregular and Alverata Informal, that vary in form and width, but maintain the same spirit. The Irregular version is particularly inspired by the Insular letterforms, the uncials, and their constantly changing positioning. Alverata strikes a balance among Europe’s diversity of languages, combining contemporary typographical practices with features of medieval letterforms, from the time when Europe came into being. Visually, some written languages, such as Czech and Maltese, differ quite strongly from languages like English and German, notably because of their many accented characters. While other typefaces will show this difference, Alverata removes it. Mid Century Sans (MCS) is composed of high-geometric shapes. László Moholy-Nagy —professor in the Bauhaus— said “Typography is a tool of communication. The Carrigallen family of fonts has roots in Megalithic and Celtic Ireland. It has six weights—Light, Regular and Bold and their corresponding italics. The distinctiveness of the Carrigallen family, is in it's sculpted, spiral nature, inspired by the graphics at the entrance stones and kerbstones at the Newgrange passage graves in Ireland. This is where it derives it’s decorative nature and suitability, as a very distinct Display font. Exceptionally suited for Logos and Headlines, it can increase the corporate presentation of a company as its main identifying feature—and with high memorability! The three separately designed letterforms—differing in line weight—are held in place by the white space within and without the character giving a distinctive twenty first century flavour! Etruscan was the language of the Etruscan civilization, in Italy, in the ancient region of Etruria (modern Tuscany, western Umbria, northern Latium, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Lombardy and Campania). Etruscan influenced Latin but was eventually completely superseded by it. The Etruscans left around 13,000 inscriptions that have been found so far, only a small minority of which are of significant length; some bilingual inscriptions with texts also in Latin, Greek, or Phoenician; and a few dozen loanwords. Attested from 700 BC to AD 50, the relation of Etruscan to other languages has been a source of long-running speculation and study, with its being referred to at times as an isolate, one of the Tyrsenian languages, and a number of other less well-known theories. The consensus among linguists and Etruscologists is that Etruscan was a Pre–Indo-European,and a Paleo-European language and is closely related to the Raetic language spoken in the Alps, and to the Lemnian language, attested in a few inscriptions on Lemnos. Grammatically, the language is agglutinating, with nouns and verbs showing suffixed inflectional endings and gradation of vowels. Nouns show five cases, singular and plural numbers, with a gender distinction between animate and inanimate in pronouns. Etruscan appears to have had a cross-linguistically common phonological system, with four phonemic vowels and an apparent contrast between aspirated and unaspirated stops. The records of the language suggest that phonetic change took place over time, with the loss and then re-establishment of word-internal vowels, possibly due to the effect of Etruscan's word-initial stress. Here is my next Celtic Monograms font family. I used a lot of authentic knots and curves to imitate Insular art style. The term derives from insula, the Latin term for “island” in this period Britain and Ireland shared a largely common style different from that of the rest of Europe. I've drawn sketches set, manually vectorized it and assemble the font family. In an attempt to replicate the intricate patterns found in Celtic art, I endeavored to create a design that embodied the essence of true Celtic knot work. The interweaving lines, which were prominent motifs in Celtic art prior to the arrival of Christian influence around 450, served as the foundation for my creation. Over time, these designs seamlessly integrated into early Christian manuscripts and artwork, incorporating depictions of various elements from everyday life, including animals, plants, and even human figures. In the beginning, the patterns were intricate interwoven cords, called plaits. This particular style is often linked to the Celtic regions, but it was also widely embraced in England and spread throughout Europe through the efforts of Irish and Northumbrian monks. The utilization of the Celtic knot as a tattoo design gained popularity during the 1970s and 1980s in the United States. Consequently, it has proven to be a highly advantageous font choice for various applications such as posters, banners, and sportswear. You can also create a vintage color shift effect. Please note, you should use graphic applications such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, but not Microsoft Word. All you need is put Two or Three lines style initial on the top of Back style. Liliana is a geometrical typeface, born throughout comprehensive formal studies while testing new ways of displaying certain words and sentences. The essential structure of Liliana is very conservative: It can look similar to other geometrical typographies, however, it has unique features that make this project very special. Liliana is a typeface that will work perfectly while setting short texts, words, and phrases as well. It shall perform greatly even when the paragraph is too short. Thanks to the versatility of its alternate characters, Liliana is perfect to achieve eye-catching texts. The spirit of this typography is focused on its “s” character, which originates from manuscript writings and provides a very special identity. If the text does not contain the letter "s", the intended personality can still be achieved by using alternate characters such as "f", "l", “r” and “L”, which are aligned with the same concept. On top of that, may all this still not be enough, you can furthermore use its ligatures and swashes. It is actually hard not to set a spectacular text with Liliana! The main reason I wanted to design this font was because I really didn’t like how poorly some fonts tried to mimic an Oriental appearance. Trying to make western words appear Asian with a font composed of brush strokes is almost always doomed to failure. However, I find Croasian works extremely well with one syllable words that are Asian sounding. A good font to have if you want to express an Asian name or business phonetically in a western alphabet while still retaining an Asiatic feel. Mofid Mahdi is a distinctive, bold Arabic display face, suitable for heading and titling work in Arabic newspaper and magazine composition. In this typeface the rounded internal counters and dots contrast with the angular and more robust outlines of the letterforms to give a decorative, harlequin-like appearance. The design was originally developed for use in dry-transfer format, and was first produced as a digital font by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the early 1980s. Initially a simplified face, with its inherent limited range of letterforms, Mofid Mahdi was enhanced during the late 1980s by the introduction of medial letterforms to improve character spacing and balance. The recent advent of OpenType has led to the release of Mofid Mahdi.
