Wedding Regular was originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF and released as Wedding Text in 1901. It is a lighter version of his ENGRAVER'S OLD ENGLISH of the same period. Wedding Regular is based on the Textura style of blackletter that continued in popularity in England into the 16th century, long after the Dutch, French and Italians had moved to a Roman model that expressed the Renaissance humanism of the period. Wedding Headline is a still lighter version of the regular text face, suitable for setting larger sizes while still preserving the delicacy of the decorative hairlines. Textura continues in use in England and the United States for newspaper mastheads, gift shop signs, wedding invitations and programs and other applications where a feeling of tradition is desired. I recently saw an 1980ish photo of a “Tubby Isaac” sign in London using textura. I believe Benton’s design captures that feeling without being heavy-handed and still remaining quite readable for eyes accustomed to Roman lettering. LaFarge is a typeface primarily inspired by the historic mosaic titling capitals found in the New York City Subway, designed by architect Squire J. Vickers and his staff between 1915-1927. These elegant but industrial signs are characteristic of early-20th century American architectural lettering, and show an evolution of the classical Roman capitals to lower contrast, bolder serifs, and more regular character widths. The majority of this lettering still remains in subway stations today, and though elements of the style vary from sign to sign, many carry the unique features that are reflected in LaFarge: high-waisted crossbars with angled serifs, elegantly curved “R” leg, and distinctive trapezoidal serifs. LaFarge expands this style into a lower case, taking cues from contemporary typefaces like Bookman, Cheltenham, and Della Robbia. A number of typographic features are included, such as small caps, ordinal indicators / superscript letters, arrows, and a set of borders inspired by early subway tile. The result is a fashionable, architecturally-minded typeface that is just as at home on the façade of a grand public building as it is on packaging, magazines, or the web. Novelty Script is a bold dynamic script, sharply delineated, yet fluid. Most of the lower case letters and many of the upper case letters have joins. The typeface was designed by Nicholas J. Werner and Gustave F. Schroeder and patented in March 1893. The original release was by the Central Type Foundry of St. Louis, Missouri. Although a part of ATF from 1892, the Central Type Foundry continued to operate under its own name until 1895. Novelty Script uses our new encoding, as noted in the All_customer_readme.txt. The Euro symbol has been moved to position 128 and the Zcaron/zcaron have been added at positions 142/158 respectively. Otherwise, Novelty Script has our usual idiosyncratic glyph selection, with the German ch/ck instead of braces, Western European accented letters, lower case “o” and “u” with Hungarian umlaut and our usual Hand-in-Hand symbol. But that is not all. With the takeover of the Central Type Foundry by ATF, a group of special characters appeared. All are included in this font, except the “&Co” and the "'s", for a total of nine in all. Simplo: the ‘Italian Futura’. Simplo is a geometric sans serif typeface, built in sixteen styles. It is a tribute to the 1930s typeface Semplicità, designed by Nebiolo’s Alessandro Butti. Although many details of Simplo differ from Semplicità, it preserves the spirit of the original. Simplo is ideal for use in display sizes. It is also quite legible in text, and is well suited for graphic design and corporate identity design. Simplo has sixteen styles, extensive language support, eight different kinds of figures, sophisticated OpenType features — so it’s ready for advanced typographic projects. The most notable characteristics of this typeface are the ‘t’ and the ‘f’. The ‘t’ is the culmination of simplicity: a vertical line with just a simple right-side crossbar. The ‘f’ also has just a right-side crossbar, and is really tall: it reaches both the highest and lowest vertical position of the typeface. The top of the distinctive ‘s’, is much narrower than its bottom. The ‘a’, ‘b’, ‘d’, ‘g’, ‘p’, ‘q’, and ‘u’ are spurless, and show a family resemblance with Hans Reichel’s 1990s typeface Dax. Wood Type Calendar JNL is a set of components for making monthly calendar pages. Based on a set of vintage wood type numbers, the dates 1 through 31 are found on the "A-Z" and "a-e" keys; the 23/30 and 24/31 ligatures are on the "f" and "g" keys. On the "h" and "i" keys are blank outline and solid blocks for balancing the calendar layout. The "j" through "u" keys have the names of the months, and the "1" through "7" keys contain the days of the week.

"Ye Paradigma" has been established in order to keep its forms as simple as possible - without losing the unique character of each letter, and without simplifying too much. The process was gradual, like the ripening of a sauce that leaves it to be reduced to strengthen flavors, so the letters ripened while reducing unnecessary details, until the taste became more concentrated and uniform. The French publication “La Lettre Dans le Decor et La Publicite Modernes” (“The Letter in the Modern Décor and Advertising”) was a 24-page booklet showcasing the then-current trends of the time (circa late 1930s-early 1940s). Baltimore Type Foundry released its Antique Geometric series by 1883, including it that year on advance sheets for their 1886 Specimen Book, shortly after the firm was taken over by Charles J. Cary. We have chosen to call our version of the face “Baltimore Geometric” because we like the name better. The Central Type Foundry-Boston Type Foundry combine followed with a similar typeface in 1884, using an engraving machine to cut directly into matrices (Gray page 124). It was called simply “Geometric”. As noted in the write-up for HiH font Teutonia, a number of similar typeface designs have appeared over the years. The simplicity of concept is inviting and certainly fits nicely with some of the intellectual theories that developed in the early twentieth century, like the De Stijl and Constructivist movements. This font is useful in conveying an image that is logical and mechanical, implying a high degree of functionality.
