The concept of a bold connected script with a hand lettered feel has been on my bucket list for decades. Ladoga — one of the most beautiful Russian designs from the soviet period. The type family was developed in Polygraphmash in 1968 by Anatoly Shchukin on the base of his own lettering for book covers and titles. When teaching font-making at the Art Institute of Tucson, I give my students plenty of lab time to come up with design ideas. I designed Pucky while one class created their fonts. It came about through an idea for a capital A: sort of a triangle with two round sides and a crossbar formed by a circle falling out. (You can see it here.) In drawing that, I hit upon the idea of making the tops of the alphabet sharp and square and the bottoms rounded. (See the whole alphabet here.) Pucky suggests both circus and psychedelia. BMX Radical is inspired by the titles of the cult 1980s BMX movie "Rad". The characters R, A and D were designed after this, with the rest of the character set being completely made up. The Sommet family of typefaces has been updated with a new slab serif variant. Expanding on Sommet's successful design principals, Sommet Slab is there when you need more impact and power. Sommet Slab is available with six weights and complementary italics and plenty of OpenType features. Sommet Slab features a tall x-height, and its letterforms are compact, perfect for when layout space is at a premium. Over twenty OpenType alternate characters are available, including friendlier upright italic forms, and a unique simplified lowercase. Sommet Slab also includes oldstyle figures and small caps. Use Sommet Slab whenever you need a powerful and contemporary slab-serif.

Fantasy draws on a series of historical calligraphic traditions: Roman capitals, Lombardic initials, enlightenment era ornamentation and refinement. The user is invited to deploy their imagination playing with the alternates, ornaments and frames in different universes like publications and stationery. Fantasy Pro is the fully-featured OpenType version with two styles of capitals and plenty of swash alternates and ornaments. Each of these varieties is available as a separate font in addition to Fantasy Std, a set of unadorned standard characters for smaller settings.
