This time I touched another classic manuscript for my font. The Lindisfarne Gospels is an illuminated manuscript probably produced around the years 715–720 in the monastery at Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland. It’s the work of a monk named Eadfrith. He was a highly trained calligrapher, and he used insular majuscule script in the manuscript. Wood Heinz No.2 - the close friend of Wood Heinz No.4 The Regular font style offers up to four »printed look« variations of all the Latin base letters and figures. An OpenType letter rotator is build into the font to emulate the randomness of wood type printing. You can switch manually to the alternate letters by using the Stylistic Sets 1–4. Stylistic Set 5 will activate the more common look of the capital letter R with a straight leg. The New font style has clean outlines and of course the alternate letter R. Krimhilde was originally designed by Albert Auspurg and released in 1933 with the type foundry Ludwig & Mayer. The design mixes elements of German blackletter typefaces and geometric sans-serif designs, which became popular in the 1920s in the movement known as New Typography. The FDI version of Krimhilde offers both original styles (regular and bold) as “version A” with a full Latin 1 character set. “Version B” has alternative shapes for some letters to make the design more legible for people who are not familiar with the German blackletter shapes.
