We are very happy to announce the release of our first collaboration with master calligrapher, designer and illustrator Gabriel Martínez Meave from México. The first in the series of new designs is Wordless Script, an emotional calligraphic typeface published by Sudtipos. Speechless. Breathless. Wordless. There are letters that transcend simple functionality and sheer legibility, to be recognized instead by their style, their charm, their emotion. It’s like when we don’t remember the exact sentences, but we recall the tone of the voice of a loved one: it just doesn’t matter WHAT he or she said, but HOW he or she said it. Wordless Script is the font of choice for writing those things that go beyond words. Based on the connected-scripts of late 18th-century England, this typeface preserves the irregular finish and gestural strokes of the pointed nib. It is, so to speak, a personal rendition of the English roundhand as originally executed with the bird’s quill. Imbued with a Rococo, neoclassical, romantic spirit, Wordless radiates the gallantry of a time when the celebrated «douceur de vivre» that Talleyrand was so fond of was still alive and well; echoes of which still haunt us in our eclectic 21st-century, which has once again come to appreciate these magnificent styles of old. Wordless features alternate variants of most letters, ligatures and multiple calligraphic endings, ideal for elegant labels, high-end packaging and personalized stationery, as well as compositions for selected brands, exquisite titlings, verses, letters and short texts, like those meant to be read with the eyes only or intended for whispering into someone’s ear.

PB Carolingian Xc is a font face designed for imitate Carolingian minuscule (from the region of the German southeastern scribal schools) found in 10th century manuscripts. All characters are handwritten by use ink and quill pen, scanned, digitized and optimized for best quality without lost its handwritten visual appearance. Character set support codepages: 1250 Central (Eastern) European, 1252 Western (ANSI), 1254 Turkish, 1257 Baltic. Include also additional characters for Cornish, Danish, Dutch and Welsh language, spaces (M/1, M/2, M/3, M/4, M/6, thin, hair, zero width space etc.), historical characters (overlined uppercase Roman numerals, many mediaeval abbreviations, d-rotunda, r-rotunda, I-longa, e-caudata, historical ligatures for “nomina sacra”) and wide range of ancient punctuation. OpenType TrueType TTF (.ttf) font file include installed OpenType features: Access All Alternates, Localized Forms, Fractions, Ordinals, Superscript, Tabular Figures, Proportional Figures, Case-Sensitive Forms, Stylistic Alternates, Contextual Alternates, Stylistic Set 1-11, Historical Forms, Historical Ligatures, Standard Ligatures. Include also kerning as single ‘kern’ table for maximum possible backwards compatibility with older software. Historical ligatures for additional glyphs are mapped to Private Use Area codepoints. OpenType features automatically exchange some default glyphs by stylistic alternates and create ligatures for better historical appearance.

Espíritu is the first font illustrated and designed by talented Graphic Designer, lettering artist, illustrator and musician Agustín Pizarro Maire. For this entirely made-by-hand project, Agustín pushed his limits forward, significantly improving his notions in the type field, by applying his expertise and experience as an illustrator and letterer. With Type Direction and design assist by Guille Vizzari, both joined forces to face this voyage together. The result is a peculiar font family that seeks for a free spirit, one that is imperfect and unpretentious. With its soul deeply rooted in wanderlust, just enjoying the journey, like an endless road trip. Espíritu is a type family guided by the impulse of the hand, getting lost in the details of infinite drawn letters and icons, that perfectly fit meticulous designs, achieving also great impact when needed.
