MetroBots is a fun loving, non-traditional but very functional family of 6 fonts made of big city skies, the long tropical morning shadows of ancient ziggurats and entire pueblo villages, nestled into the steep cliff-sides of sage-topped mesas in south western deserts. This is a good solid, but kind of whacky looking display type family borrowing from the heft of good old-fashioned children�s wooden building blocks and the look and feel of both modern and ancient pueblo architecture. With a bit of the not-so-subtle expressiveness of a comical robot on a WD-40 high on the side.

Kessel 105 Text is the text specific variation of stablemate, Kessel 105 . With a narrower x-height and longer ascenders and descenders, its more traditional proportions make it more economical with space and better suited to continuous text. It's a versatile, modern sans, highly legible as a text font and with a clean, elegant look as a display font at larger sizes. It has an art deco flavour with sharp points at the apex of many characters. The Kessel 105 Text family comprises of four weights and includes old style non-aligning (lower case) numbers, both proportional and tabular as well as accented characters for Central European languages.

M Marker is a humanistic script design characterised by its italic, modern, box marker pen-like style. M Marker incorporates features of carton box marker pen, its strokes beginning and ending are rough, parallel without flare. Contrast of strokes is high. Its extra bold stems (豎) make it suitable for large display text to catch attention. Crossbars (橫) and stems (豎) are straight but slanted while angles (折) are smooth and well rounded. Dots (點), ticks (剔), hooks (勾) and downstrokes (撇、捺) are irregular, smooth and long to create softness, liveliness. It is best suited for casual and lively display, illustrations, set upright (naturally slanted), non-condensed.

Breton is a geometric slab serif typeface inspired by Boston. Breton has a strong personality and it is an ideal face for headings and branding design. Its most noticeable characteristic is a great difference of proportions between rounded characters (like "o", "c" or "e") and non-rounded ones (like "n", "m" or "z"). Umkhonto is the Zulu word for SPEAR, the traditional weapon of war that the Zulus used. The sharp points of the letters face upwards and represent the sharp points of the dangerous spears. The font includes a full 256 character set: all upper and lower case letters, as well as all numerals and punctuation. It also includes the most commonly used characters used in non-English European languages such as Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. The numerals are mono-spaced so that they will line up correctly in columns of figures. The letters of the alphabet are spaced according to their width and are carefully kerned.

I created this font to capture the innocence and playfulness of doodle lettering that is created in schools everywhere. Typographic rules are non-existent and the characters are sometimes oddly and incorrectly shaped but that's exactly what gives it charm. What really got me started was Napoleon Dynamite, his drawings and "typography". This font does not mimic what you see in the movie at all, but it attempts to capture the same spirit of high school "doodle typography". My favorite line: "I am pretty much the best artist I know". The font was named after Boondoggle keychains, the other craft most scholars acquire at some point in their school careers.

Although at first sight Mashine is a strict, "non-design" typeface, this display font is not as geometric as it seems. The use of serif-like terminals and unusual joints gives the design a unique look. This all-caps font provides stylistic alternates for most letters. If you type larger amounts of texts you should activate the Contextual Alternates OpenType feature to have the variants replaced automatically. Dusty Circus™ is a five layer stacking display face designed to be infinitely morphed. The metrics are set identically in the individual and family set, to provide for typographic ease (although we seem to prefer an offset appearance). Streeters is a hand brush typeface, created for a specific project, where one of the assumptions in creating it was to combine the appearance of a manual brush, liquid paint but also a spatial effect. Uppercase and lowercase letters create a slightly different effect with the same character height. They are created in such a way that, in addition to writing with one letter case, it is also possible to mix and create many different combinations of uppercase and lowercase characters, for example, a unique look for the same repetitive words. The font is best for works where a non-standard, strong and distinctive form of communication is needed.

Someone recently pointed out that May and June are the wedding season months, and that while we have some excellent fonts for non-traditional weddings (celtic and renaissance styles work well), we don't have a straightforward, elegant engraver style font. That's the kind of shortcoming we can remedy, hence our Belphebe font, which is in the tradition of popular wedding invitation fonts like Rook, but has some antique characteristics which are in the Scriptorium tradition. The kerning on this font was a real challenge, because we wanted all the characters to fit together for a flowing, hand-lettered look, but the results are worth it.

Futura is THE prototype of a geometric or constructed linear sans serif and the font most commonly font of its kind used to date. Futura, very much influenced by the Bauhaus movement in Germany, was designed in 1927 by Paul Renner. Although being around for almost 90 years, Futura seems eternally young and fresh which also explains its continuous popularity with designers and typographers. Futura simply means efficiency and functionality documented by both its many usages as corporate type (e.g. Volkswagen, formerly IKEA, Vuitton, Shell, formerly HP, SMA and many more) as well as in various famous film projects (e.g. Kubrick, Anderson etc.). Futura’s iconic status was probably established when it walked on the moon with the Apollo 11 crew in 1969. It was used for the lettering of the plaque that was left up there.

Goudy Forum is a revival and dramatic expansion by Tom Rickner, type designer at Ascender Corporation, of Frederic W. Goudy’s 20th typeface design, "Forum Title". The Pro font began twenty years ago while Tom Rickner was a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Tom printed a type specimen using the Forum Title foundry hot metal types. Then in 1993 Tom began to digitize the font from that specimen while working as an independent type designer. Fifteen years passed before Tom dusted off the digital data and began working in earnest on font with a full Latin 1 character set. Steve Matteson, type director at Ascender, encouraged Tom to take this font further still, and soon the glyph repertoire and feature set blossomed to a robust Pro font with a myriad of advanced typographic OpenType features.

Dear Dolores has had its name from the latin word dolorem, meaning sorrow or grief. When I started working on this display font I found myself trying it out using the latin requiem texts. The capitals somehow sat well with the monumental and solemn words of mourning. The broken hairlines suggested stone cuttings where the fine details had been worn down and obliterated over time and it felt at home in a churchyard or in a monument park. Adding lowercase gave the font a more personal and friendly appearance and opened up new possibilities for use. The name itself is a fictional message to someone long missed or perhaps lost too soon. Dear Dolores comes in a cut and an uncut version where the fine details are left intact. Both are excellent for headlines or memorable quotes.

1st Ave is the most experimental of my typefaces. I took a picture of a metal and neon sign in the East Village of New York City. These signs are slowly being replaced by LED and LCD displays, but if you look hard, you can still find quite a few in the city. The signs give a mid 20th century feel to the city. To design 1st Ave, I took a picture of the sign, scanned it and increased the contrast in Photoshop so that the photographic forms became line art. There weren't enough letterforms in the sign to create the whole alphabet, so I cut up the strokes and collaged them back together to finish the entire alphabet. Important Note: 1st Ave is an experimental typeface and is not compatible with certain software such as Microsoft Word.
