Bulk Weight JNL is a stripped down version of Inline Square JNL (based on 1930s sheet music hand lettering) with the inline removed. What is left behind is a thick, bulky, ultra bold lettering style suitable for attention-getting headlines. Bulk Weight JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Named for a Manhattan neighborhood, Morningside Heights JNL is based on lettering found on a 1920s-era piece of sheet music. Part of the charm of hand lettering from the Art Nouveau era is found in the non-standard line thicknesses, experimental character shapes and varying character widths.

Freight Display kicks it up another notch from the Freight Text family with more open counters and a bit more contrast. Those warmer proportions give balance for easily read headlines, running heads, and subheads while still standing tall if reversed-out at smaller sizes.

As a beautiful yet eccentric unconnected script, Milroy Upright SG Regular can be a refreshing alternative to the formal upright scripts seen on so many anniversary and wedding announcements today. This nineteenth century classic was designed by Max Rosenow and Julius Schmol for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1895. Milroy Upright was originally known as Oliphant. It was later renamed Advertisers Upright Script in 1925. This new version, Milroy Upright, contains many new alternative characters including a modified cap X and cap Z, a two-story lowercase g, and a matching set of oldstyle figures. Milroy Upright SG Regular is now available in the OpenType format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version including stylistic alternates, discretionary ligatures, and oldstye figures. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

As its name implies, it was designed to handle standard text sizes for large and small quantities of copy. Unique enough to catch the eyes but comfortable enough keep them from bleeding, Freight Text is a workhorse intended for magazines, newspapers, cookbooks, data-intensive technical documents and collateral. Weights and Measures is a great title font that is simple and elegant. It is bold without being overpowering. This style was a favorite for me as I made posters for school projects, wrote notes to friends, and made decorative labels. This font fully supports the following languages: Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish. Washington Heights JNL is a sans serif type design based on a vintage hand-made directional sign for the New York subway system.

Sweet Upright Script is the first release for Sweet Fonts Collection, published by MVB Fonts. It is an interpreted revival of a vintage, social engraving lettering style that was popular during the 20th Century. It is probably the first digital version of the design. With the advent of the engraving machine (a pantograph device) around 1900, commercial engraving moved from the use of hand-cut plates to the use of masterplates (lettering patterns). Lettering was traced from the masterplate using the engraving machine, letter by letter, onto a coated steel plate, that would then be etched in a chemical bath. The resulting plate was used to print engraved stationery with the raised print distinctive to the process. Many of these lettering styles were used for decades for commercial and social applications (letterheads, wedding invitations, etc.), but as they were merely traced alphabets, were not "fonts". Many remain unavailable in digital form. Over time, a number of the most popular styles were adapted to phototype, which sped up the process of plating for engraving, avoiding the need to trace each letter by hand with the engraving machine. Later, when type went digital, these phototype fonts were revived as digital fonts. As a result, the styles offered by engravers narrowed over time, as has the range of engraving styles revived in digital form.

While the inspiration for Prospect Heights JNL may have been a piece of vintage sheet music entitled "My Ohio Lullaby", the name is classically New York. To be precise, it's a neighborhood in the Borough of Brooklyn. Prospect Heights JNL is available in both the regular version (with an engraving line) and a solid (plain) version.

Future Bugler Upright is a non-slanted version of Future Bugler, a font based on the second logo created by Harry Warren in early 1975 for his sixth grade class newsletter, The Broadwater Bugler, at Broadwater Academy in Exmore, Virginia, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. This font can convey several perspectives or moods. It can suggest a space-age vision of the future, or an art-deco perspective of the future as in the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Named for his childhood neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, Jeff Levine's Crown Heights JNL is a lightline all-caps titling font excellent for short words or phrases. Its inspiration is remotely based on the symmetry of earlier designs such as Beton and Stymie.

Big headlines, big mastheads, big cover art. Big, big, big–big is best when big. The exquisiteness of Freight Big Pro’s hairline strokes and elegantly pointed serifs provide a striking contrast to its surroundings. Very useful when you really wanna knock someone’s socks off but with the touch of a feather so they’ll know something happened but not how it happened. Freight Big Pro, sublimely subliminal. This typeface takes its design cues from Dudley Upright, a Dan X. Solo find from the sixties. This version is considerably wider than the original, which increases its legibility while retaining its flower-power vibe. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

A clean, well-lit design, Freight Sans proves that even a workhorse can be a breath of fresh air while remaining invitingly readable. Ideal for boundless headlines and text, the power and detail of this design also serves well in way-finding and display environs. From web to print to apps, it’s hard to imagine a project where Freight Sans wouldn’t do the job with aplomb. When you need a sans serif–you need Freight Sans.
