In 1939 the Stephenson Blake Company bought a very popular script called Undine Ronde and began marketing under the name Amanda Ronde. Although Undine/Amanda was quite popular and can be seen in many advertisements from the 1930s and 1940s, there seems to be no surviving record stating the original foundry or designer. We thought that six and half decades of dust layers over the once-popular typeface were enough, so here and now you have its complete and expanded digital incarnation, Adore. It is quite easy to see why this typeface was popular. A round script with graceful meaty curves is rarely found and can be used in plenty of applications. Wedding paraphernalia, chapter titles, posters, poetry, book covers, religious literature... you name it, Adore can fit it. Aside from its totality being unmatched by currently available designs, Adore also possesses some of the most unique and imaginative letter shapes. The narrow loops on the B, P and R, the minuscule-like Z, the looped b and d, the descending h... all these shapes contribute to a breathtaking and adorable calligraphic work unlike any other. The original design came in a basic alphabet, but we have updated it for current digital technologies, and expanded it to include plenty of alternates and ligatures, as well as some ornaments. The Postscript Type 1 and True Type versions come in two fonts, the second containing the alternates and extras, while the Open Type version is a single font containing all the alternates and extras in conveniently programmed features, easily accessible at the push of a button in OpenType-supporting software. We also encourage you to take a look at Typodermic's Mecheria font, which is further experimentation with the same letter forms, resulting in a quirky, friendly, curly, angular gothic-like creature.

Gotico™, meaning Gothic, is a Blackletter script (sometimes referred to as Old English). The original Gotico design was first brought to market by the Fundicion Tipografica Richard Gans type foundry (1888-1975) in Spain. The designer of Gotico is unknown and for many years the font was formerly sold only in Europe.

Abelarde is a classic medieval gothic style font which combines traditional blackletter style lower case characters with more ornate and decorative capital letters with some nice swash features. We've done some simpler fonts in the same general vein like Cymbeline, Aneirin and Perigord, but Abelarde takes the style to a higher level.

Girder Poster, also named Spurred Gothic, was inspired by showcard lettering samples featured in the book, Commercial Art Of Show Card Lettering, published in 1945. Although similar to Cooper Bold, Girder Poster's serifs are spurred and the design's inception came out of theatrical poster studios of the mid 1900's in New York.

Here is a faithful revival of Gothic Number Ten, released by the Cincinnati Type Foundry in the late 1800s. Not your garden-variety sans-serif, its quirky caps will warm up your headlines. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

BillieBob was made by cramping straight shapes into squares. Somewhat reminds me of pre cold-war Russian type.

The basis for Series A Signage JNL is Highway Gothic; a type style design formally known as the FHWA Series. The font was developed by the United States Federal Highway Administration, and originally consisted of only capital letters and figures. Each Letter designation represented a character width from "A" (condensed) to "F" (wide). Due to poor visibility at high speeds, Series "A" was discontinued. At one point lower case characters were added to the various widths of the design, but this typeface revival is based on the original guidelines specified in the 1948 (reprinted 1952) book "Standard Alphabets for Highway Signs" [this was the original name for the FHWA series fonts preceding the eventual name change to Highway Gothic]. Unlike the original, Series A Signage JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Longa Iberica is a serif typeface inspired by ancient scripts (Visisigothic, Proto-Gothic, Gothic). It has a long ascender and descender, small x-height and low-profile lining figures. Include automatic ligature creation, stylistic alternates and historical letterforms, lining and oldstyle numerals, fractions, Roman numerals adjusted to figure height (lining and oldstyle) and ordinal letters. Kerning is prepared as single ('flat') table for maximum possible compatibility with older software.

Tusker Grotesk is a headline typeface designed for robust and high-impact use. The initial inspiration for Tusker came from postwar typefaces like Haettenschweiler, Impact and Helvetica Inserat which use very high x-heights. Other influences in the condensed end of the Tusker family are old grotesques like Folio Extra Condensed and Stephenson Blake Elongated Sans No.1 with their flat terminals and closed-up apertures. Then as the widths in Tusker grow, the lettering takes some more inspiration from gothic style sans such as Inland Type's Title Gothic No.8, while maintaining the optical weight established in the narrow end of the family. Each width set is duplexed, stackable and is ideal for headlines, logos and bold attention-grabbing editorial design. Tusker has extended latin coverage ideal for western, central and eastern European languages.

Muisca, that in its early edition was named as «Muisca Sans», was developed in mid-1997 and based on the graphic concept of pre-Columbian characteristics figures within some of the very few visual elements recovered from the Muisca culture. This ancient pre-Columbian tribe disappeared since the arrival of the Spanish 500 years ago, in what is now the center of Colombia. In fact, the name of the capital Bogotá goes back to Bacatá as primary or village downtown of what was once the imperial capital of the Muisca tribe. This typographic project was submitted as my work for the degree in Graphic Design, obtained in September of that year (at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia), under the creative concept of vindicating the ancient culture and identity through a functional typeface, into a fact without precedent in the country. Muisca was recently edited, arranged and completed, including multilingual diacritic glyphs to be versatile in several languages. Related and inspired by Latin America, Ethnic, Native, Tribal, Mysthical, Handmade, Aboriginal, Pre-Hispanic, Pre-Columbian, Textured, Fantasy. Ideal to be used in logos, display text & titles, games and other design applications that reminds of the Pre-Hispanic art.

The requirements of Middle Ages scribes who copied and produced books in monasteries were fundamentally to preserve space, due to the high cost of the writing surface. During this long period of the development of Gothic forms, many other variations of the style of black letters appear: Textur or “Gothic-antique”, another group called Rotunda preferred by Italian and Spanish scribes. In 1490, the style "Bâtarde" (according to the the French classification) began to be widely used in Germany with more rounded shapes and named Scwabacher (probably derived from the city of Schwabach, but not certified) Fractur is a more condensed and narrower form than Schwabacher. This style is attributed to Johann Neudörfer of Nuremberg, cut in 1513; it was quickly imitated, therefore a few years later became to be a German national identity that extended over the next four centuries. The shape of its characters can be considered as a fusion of Texture and Schwabacher: the lowercase actually has medium strictly vertical and half curved strokes. The first expressions of the baroque influence this writing whose appearance of movement is due to the ornaments applied to the uppercase letters and the ascending and descending features of the lowercase. Despite having spent so many years and being a typeface not suitable for extensive reading texts, the Gothic Fractur has endured over time for possessing a strong and solid characteristic, as well as being closely linked to the spirit of gothic cathedrals of countries in northen Europe. In fact, it is probably that this expressive feature leads them to be chosen in the most varied graphic communication needs, which run from from banks and financial companies, insurers, law offices, publishers, newspapers and TV networks, till alcoholic drinks, funeral tombstones, packaging and even tattoos.

Cinque Donne means “Five Women” in Italian. It was inspired by the five sisters in my family as well as a group of five high school friends I have known for 46 years, aka “The Club Girls”. The Pro version has 3370 glyphs with all the bells and whistles! Women are connectors, encouragers and supporters. Young, old, shy, extroverted, when you put us together, somehow we make a beautiful impact on each other’s lives. This is what Cinque Donne does in a visual way. Some letters are simple and prefer to sit quietly. Others are flourished and proud and like the limelight in the middle of a word. And then there are alternates that are flexible and work in any number of surprising places. Stylistic sets can add a vivacious feel while contextual alternates bring better understanding. I love going to flea markets and second-hand stores; in fact a lot of the furniture in our home is second hand (or pre-loved, a euphemism I find rather peculiar). I personally believe that buying used products is a good way to help this planet, as no new stuff needs to be made and the old stuff gets a second life. Fleabitten is a ‘western style’ serif font. You could use it to pimp the posters for your line dance festival, but hey, be creative! I am sure you’ll find some good use for this very nice pre-loved font. Yes, pre-loved: I loved it first!

Naratif is a condensed display based on an early 1900 sans-serifs and gothic faces and it has 7 weights including italic. Great for anything big and for not so small text or display. FS Koopman is a hard-working typeface. A crossbred workhorse that draws on inspiration from Swiss grotesks, American gothics and early British grotesques. It refuses to fit neatly into any of these categories, it’s neither one nor the other, but all of the above. It’s kinda Swiss meets American… (but with a slight Yorkshire twang).
