Busted is the very strange and out-of-character outburst of Bill Troop, a guy who was classically trained in everything, from classical piano and literature to classical photography and type design. As far as we could tell, Bill Troop is the kind of guy whose appearance and voice instantly trigger thoughts of black and white photos, fedoras, and pre-industrial age Europe. A few years ago, he even moved from the United States to England, where it took him less than a week to feel at home and start sounding like a Norwich native. Then something happened and the poor dude just snapped. Busted is the controversial result of the blood rushing to his head. If you know what exactly happened to him, please let us know. Concern, consideration and human interest story aside, Busted is a fascinating thing. It is a set of four interchangeable thick outline fonts where the same letter forms turn from wild to wilder to broken to somewhat clean. Mix them up in a setting and you have words that snarl with a sneer. Life's too short. Take it all with a grain of salt. Scream whenever you feel like it. This family, in normal and bold weights, is based on Advertisers Gothic, designed by Robert Wiebking for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1917. The original might be considered a transitional design between Art Nouveau and Art Deco; this version accentuates the Deco traits, adding a thick-and-thin treatment not found in the original. The large x-height and short descenders allow for compact, commanding headlines with a carefree charm, a.k.a. bell'agio. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

One of the more elegant script fonts available, this design is based on calligraphic handwriting called "Copperplate" because of the copper plates that it was etched into for reproduction. This face is not related to Copperplate [Gothic] by the American type designer, F.W. Goudy. The name Copperplate comes from the fact that writing masters used to hand-write their books and then send them to an engraver who recreated all the subtle details onto copper plates, which where then used to print the handwriting books.

A geometric design, published in Rick Poynor’s Typography Now 1 (Booth-Clibborn Editions, London UK,1991). Discussing these kinds of angular styles, the critic Rick Poynor noted that "fate has overtaken the angular post-constructivist type design of Neville Brody, Zuzana Licko and Max Kisman". Poynor described a process by which typefaces, once “fresh, unexpected, precisely attuned to the moment”, get used increasingly often in less and less appropriate contexts and end up looking "irredeemably passé". A neat face with pronounced spur serifs which several foundries have already digitized. We like ours better though, because we have drawn a lowercase which was lacking in the original. Barnhart Bros. & Spindler of Chicago introduced this type in 1888.

Barnhart Bros. and Spindler called this Faust Text when they introduced it in 1898. A quarter of a century later, they brought back a number of obsolete faces and renamed them. This one became Missal Text in their 1923 catalog.

Our notes say this was originated at the Barnhart Bros. & Spindler foundry in Chicago, and named Cable. Perhaps so, but we didn't find it in any of our BB&S catalogs. We made a few changes to improve the color.

The opening title card for 1931's pre-code movie drama "Other Men's Women" (with Mary Astor, Regis Toomey, James Cagney and Joan Blondell amongst the cast members) is the basis for the Art Deco type face Date Night JNL.

Like many of the Victorian decorative fonts, this one had caps only when Barnhart Bros. and Spindler brought it out. In 1990, we decided to draw a lowercase for it, making it more versatile. A good font for period typography.

Type designers have been integrating the design of sans serifs with serifed forms since the 1920s. Early examples are Edward Johnston's design for the London Underground, and Eric Gill's Gill Sans. These were followed by Jan van Krimpen's Romulus Sans, Frederic Goudy's ITC Goudy Sans, Hermann Zapf's Optima, Hans Meier's Syntax and Adrian Frutiger's Frutiger. Now, ITC Stone Humanist joins this tradition. It is a careful blend of traditional sans serif shapes and classical serifed letterforms. ITC Stone Humanist grew out an experiment with the medium weight of ITC Stone Sans, a design that already showed a relationship to these sans serif-serif hybrids. ITC Stone Sans has proportions based on those of ITC Stone Serif, and its thick-and-thin stroke contrast suggests the bloodline of humanistic sans serif typefaces. But other aspects of ITC Stone Sans are more closely aligned to the gothics and grotesques, a tradition that accounts for the largest portion of sans serif designs. Enter ITC Stone Humanist. During his experiments with the earlier design, Sumner Stone recalls, I was actually quite surprised at how seemingly subtle changes transformed the face," moving the design firmly into the humanist tradition. "The form of the 'g,' 'l,' 'M,' 'W,' and more subtly the 'a' and 'e' are part of the restructuring of the family," he explains. The top endings of vertical lower case strokes have been cropped on an angle, as have the ascender and descender stroke endings. ITC Stone Humanist is a full-fledged member of the ITC Stone family. It has been produced with the same complement of weights, and the x-heights, proportions, and underlying character shapes are completely compatible with the three original designs. The original ITC Stone Sans is a popular typeface, in part because of its notable versatility. ITC Stone Humanist shares this virtue, and can be used successfully at very small sizes, in long passages of text copy, and even as billboard-sized display type."

Hamptons BF is a beautiful, elegant sans serif with dramatic individuality. A font that steps out in Art Deco style. As a design movement Art Deco came into prominence during the 1920s and 30s when forms were typically sleek, symmetrical, geometric or highly stylized. Today the influence of this enduring style can be clearly seen in architecture, industrial design, fashion, art, graphic design, and yes, even type design. Art Deco style exemplifies luxury, glamour and modernity. I believe Hamptons BF captures something of that retro look in a nod to the past without ever looking dated, all the while retaining a contemporary flair. Named after the well-known New York resorts synonymous with style and elegance, this gothic or sans serif type is based upon University Roman, an early 1970s serif design which in turn was influenced by yet another serif design called Forum Flair (late 1960s); and that in turn owes its pedigree to the late 1930s’ Stunt Roman, which is the original source of inspiration for all of these. Quite a family tree! There’s dynamic interplay between certain wide, full-round letters such as C, D, G, O, P, Q, R, S and narrow ones like A, E, F, H, K, L, M, N, U, etc. This contrast repeats throughout certain lower case letters and serves to create a unique look of distinction. Light and Regular weights communicate a romantic, feminine appeal while the Bold offers a complementary emphasis. The font is somewhat versatile as in addition to its primary purpose for display, Hamptons BF also succeeds in settings containing short blocks of large text. It’s right at home in a variety of typographic environments: branding, packaging, signage logos, magazine headlines, invitations, menus, trendy cafes and more. Although the early 1900s through the 1920s seemed to be the "Golden Age" of ridiculously long novelty song titles, it appears that even the decade of the 1940s had its fair share as well. Song Merchant JNL was modeled from the hand lettered [but exhausting] title of the sheet music for "Princess Poo-Poo-Ly Has Plenty Pa-Pa-Ya (and she Loves to Give it Away)". Despite the obvious double-entendre inferences of the title, the square block letters with rounded corners make for a useful headline font (even if the source material it was drawn from is quite forgettable). Available in regular and oblique versions.

Mosherif is a type of sherif font created with the aim of using for logo branding and print media. This font has three style that can be combined manually with one another in one word / text so that it looks unique and interesting. One example is in the first preview ( cover ), where the word "MOSHERIF" was made using three font styles ( Mosherif Regular, Mosherif Tall and Mosherif Short ). You can make it manually by making a space and remove some characters between words "MOSHERIF" becomes "M HE F" with using the font "Mosherif Tall" and fill it with "Mosherif Regular" in character "O" and "R" and "Mosherif Short" in character "S" and "I" by stacking them. By bringing the concept of vintage, clean, thick and sharp, hopefully Mosherif can provide choices for designers. Enjoy!

Chaweng is a coastal region on Ko Samui, an island in the Golf of Thailand, about 20 miles off the mainland. The design of Chaweng is based on some 'Latinese' characters Peter Rosenfeld detected while celebrating Chinese New Years Eve with people from Thailand and China on the beach of Chaweng. Ralph M. Unger took on the idea and developed a completely new typeface, very beautiful, very 'Latinese'. Chaweng obviously shows some of the typical characteristics of Chinese ideograms, still keeping a high level of legibility. To add something really special, Unger digitized the Chinese signs of the zodiac which change annually, on the occasion of the Chinese New Years Eve.Chaweng is perfect for signs and small texts, e.g. for any Asian restaurant and shops, menues, displays, China towns etc.

Rhetoric is a friendly display typeface that’s full of personality. The fonts are defined by their roman characters which could be described as “upright italic” – the style traditionally associated with a cursive character set has been applied to the roman glyphs. Yink takes big, bulbous, ball terminals up a notch, by repeating the shapes not only in the black but in the white space too. This interplay between black and white shapes is reminiscent of the yinyang symbol in places, which is where the name Yink originates. It's a shamelessly over-the-top font, and should be set large. There's a handful of OpenType features, including ligatures and alternates: Ligatures for ff, fft, ft, tt, gj Alternates are grouped into stylistic sets: 1. An alternate u, possibly more legible, but definitely not as much fun! 2. Again, a more boring version of m, just in case the default is ambiguous. 3. A more exuberant L 4. Yotta was created for situations where a thin sans with a little extra style is required in branding, advertising promotional projects — it is especially suited for the FASHION retail industry. The extended stroke feature (in u/c B,DP,R and l/c a,b,dg,h,m,npq,u,y) is discreetly applied so it does not dominate. The original typeface was designed by Albert Kapr between 1971 and 1973 for Typoart in Dresden. Kapr was the font designer and teacher as well as book author on type design of former East Germany. He also was an expert on this kind of type design, and thus, it is no surprise that he created Leipziger Antiqua, a design combining features of both Latin and broken scripts. The result is a stunning and unique gem from earlier times although it does not come along too distinguished or artsy. The digital version of Leipziger Antiqua was developed by Ralph M. Unger exclusively for profonts in 2005. During the work, Unger fell so deeply in love with this typeface that he couldn't help but add an expert font with small caps etc.

This delicate condensed typeface evokes a distant 1930s style with its pointed and sloping capital letters. The splayed capital M gives the design a very a definite retro flavor. But deco quickly becomes modern day with the use of slab serifs. The thick body of Kingsbury Condensed is neatly anchored to long thin serifs giving the face an unusual and at the same time contemporary appearance. Great for book covers and large capital letter assignments where a modern revivalist look is appropriate. Kingsbury Condensed Book is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

Chorus is a collective effort to sing in harmony. Similarly, each letter is designed to reflect harmony when used together to form a letter, sentence or paragraph. Letters like B, D, P and R have curved stroke (instead of straight line) while joining vertical stem. Letter K, k, and R have similar disjoint point in middle and unique plus stylish curve at foot. Letter C and G has distinct horizontal cut at top as compared to other letters in typeface e.g. S. Letter like b, h, m, n, and p have consistent stroke joint style with vertical stem. Ink traps in various letters are designed such that they blend with the letter form at certain degree instead, getting emphasised. The family comes in various styles in weight and width.
