The Scriptorium got its start in the early days of personal computers with a few font designs for the Commodore 64, and the very first font which we did back then in the early 1980s was a gothic calligraphy font. That style of fonts - the medieval, gothic and black letter genre - has always been the backbone of our collection, but with recent releases we've stayed away from them to introduce a bit more variety. Well, with our new Zauberer font the antique, medieval and gothic look is back with a vengeance. Zauberer isn't a true medieval calligraphy style. It's based on early printed type from Germany which combines calligraphic elements with decorative embellishments from the woodcut printing era. The result is decorative and antique looking and rather appealing. The name comes from the German word for a magician or illusionist.

Franklin Ave. is a condensed sans serif in the style of the classics Franklin Gothic and News Gothic. Nostalgic and gives a great vintage feel. It's bold and comes in two styles: Regular and Oblique. Franklin Ave. is best used in headlines and large formats or in logos or branding.

Notre Dame is a part of the 1990 program Type before Gutenberg, which included the work of twelve contemporary font designers and represented styles from across the ages. Broken letters or Gothic letters, also known as German letters, are the typeface used in Europe West from the 12th century to the 17th century. Meanwhile, Danish spoke it until 1875 and German, Estonian and Latvian spoke it well into the 20th century. Fracture is one of the broken typefaces that is often considered to represent the entire broken typeface. Broken letters are sometimes also called Old English, but not in the Old English or Anglo-Saxon sense that was born centuries earlier. This group of letters is so named because it contains Latin letters that have breaks in the curvature of the letters, either in part or in whole designs. The fracture arises from a sudden dip when writing certain parts of the letter. In contrast, letters with perfect, unbroken curves, such as Antikua, are created from smooth, flowing writing movements. Callimathy is a font inspired by the Blackletter typeface, made with a modern impression but still looks strong and unique. In addition, Young Best font is also supported with multilingual characters that can be used in several international languages. Callimathy font is very suitable for use in making music album cover designs, tattoo logos, wishkey labels, packaging pomades and so on which are made with dark and strong concepts.

This face is a bit of a time traveler. It combines the lowercase from a font called simply Square Gothic from the 1888 James Conner’s Sons specimen book with the uppercase of Morris Fuller Benton’s 1932 monocase masterwork Agency Gothic, resulting in a high-tech typeface right at home in the twenty-first Century. Vingo is an understated, elegant, sans serif face. This font is among the first in a series of alphabets I am creating that are dignified and sophisticated. I wish these fonts had been available when I was designing wine labels. These fonts are rooted in "old world" tradition, but are more utilitarian. Some of the funky aspects are downplayed, some are enhanced and updated. Any job that requires understated sophistication is perfect for this face. The name comes from the French for wine, "Vin", and "Go" from gothic-wine gothic or Vingo.

Abbatya is a serif typography of medieval design, inspired by Gothic architecture and slightly Celtic oriented.

In 1903, faced with the welter of sanserif typefaces offered by ATF, Morris Fuller Benton designed News Gothic, which became a 20th-century standard. In 1995 Tobias Frere-Jones studied drawings in the Smithsonian and started a redesign. Cyrus Highsmith reviewed News Gothic, and with the Font Bureau studio expanded it into Benton Sans, a far-reaching new series, with matched weights and widths, offering performance well beyond the limits of the original; FB 1995-2012

Getman is a light Gothic typeface. It made all the rules and traditions of classic Gothic typeface, but it has lightweight shapes, making it easy to read and understood. Getman is based on the works of type masters 1910s. This font has all 104 European alphabets, all Slavic alphabets, OpenType features (ligatures, oldstyle numerals, fistorical forms, localized forms, fractions, ordinals and others). Getman has an historic beauty of the medieval Germanic national script. Glory to the Germans!

Volcano is titling family of four is broken down into a gothic and island style. The island style features a "toothed" look that gives it a very unique look that can be used for a variation of project styles: Jungle, Island, Cruise, Vacation, Tiki, Retro, and Comicbook. The gothic style features a more industrial look and was inspired by gaspipe lettering styles. Blackminster is a Gothic font, inspired by a handwritten set of letters (designed by Harry Lawrence Gage) I found in a 1916 book about lettering. I only had the ABC/abc to work with, so I designed the remaining glyphs myself. Use Blackminster for your Metal album covers, skateboards and downhill mountain bikes, or just anything that requires a bit of a Gothic look! Tazugane Info is a Japanese typeface family developed by the Monotype Studio, an alternative set of kana designed to match the kanji and Latin alphabet which retains the original form of the Tazugane Gothic. In contrast to the Tazugane Gothic, the kana of Info family is more systematically designed in order to give the text a calm, restraint look.
