SK Barbicane is a family of typefaces named after Jules Verne's famous book, From the Earth to the Moon. Inspired by Jules Verne's foresight, it was designed with a synthesis of the future and the past. While it carries sharper and futuristic lines than the future, it also incorporates the organic structure of the past. All characters have equal dimensions in this font with mono weight and mono space. In this way, you can create regular typographic layouts in your designs. Consisting of two different families, Normal and Unicase, this font has a total of 12 different fonts and 5088 glyphs. In this way, it contains many typographic elements that you will need in your designs.

The Descent family is a unique, graffiti style, layered type system consisting of a contextual style & a classic style, each with a base fill version & an outline version. Based on a signature category of wildstyles by Graffiti Fonts® lead designer Raseone, this family was designed to be rotated 90 degrees clockwise so that the text reads in a downward direction. OpenType scripting in the contextual version enables up to 12 unique variants of any word using alternating patterns of interlocking glyphs. The classic version does not include OpenType features but instead has initial glyphs as capitals and medial glyphs in the lowercase positions. The characters in the classic version are similar to the more advanced contextual version but noticeably different & a bit more irregular. Glyphs from both styles can be mixed & used interchangeably & both styles have corresponding outline fonts.

At first glance, Burgstaedt Antiqua looks like an old typewriter face, or rather like a typeface from a typewriter that has gone hopelessly wrong! Only after your second glance will you see this font for what it really is - a thoroughly new text face. Several features of Burgstaedt Antiqua, and its companion italic face, are worth special attention: First, the terminal styles of the letters vary throughout the alphabet. This gives text set in Burgstaedt Antiqua a slightly jittery feeling. A second interesting feature is the lowercase q", which takes the form of a shrunken-down uppercase "Q". Burgstaedt Antiqua Regular and Burgstaedt Antiqua Italic may be used in both text and headlines. For use in text, we recommend employing a slightly larger point size (12 pt or 14 pt and above). British designer Richard Yeend designed this family in 2002.

Vesta™ was originally designed as an orientation and information system for the city of Rome, the birthplace of the roman alphabet. The forms are inspired by letterforms found on a frieze in the Vesta temple in Tivoli. Vesta has more contrast than the average sans serif but, like many of other designs of Gerard Unger, let in a lot of light - the letterforms are open, the counters generous. Relatively narrow and hence economical - without feeling too compressed - Vesta is an ideal solution for newspapers and magazines, and numerous other applications, including corporate identity and more. Big Vesta was intended as Vesta's display partner. However, it also performs very well at small sizes - its large x-height and short ascenders and descenders make it particularly economical, making it ideal when space is limited; for example on a mobile display. Art Nouveau typeface "Gaisma Latin" ("Light" in Latvian) draws inspiration from Vienna Secession movement and Nordic National Romanticism. My first font for 2009 was Aerle. It is a new dark sans serif font in my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. It made a little ripple in the industry, but more than that I found that I loved it with Aramus and Artimas — my latest book font family with the same proportions. In many ways, Aerle is a very different direction for me built on what I have learned on Aramus and other recent developments in my style. The concept came to me while using Bitstream's Mister Earl on a site online—though there is no direct reference. I wanted a more playful heavy sans with a much smaller x-height than I have been using lately, plus taller ascenders. As I was using Aerle, I constantly needed a light and bold version. The new direction I am taking is a result of a decision that my fonts, though I loved the character shapes, produced an even type color that is too dark or a little dense. Aerle was an attempt to get away from that look even though the letterspacing is quite tight. For Aerle Thin I pushed a little further in that direction and increased the letterspacing. The hand-drawn shapes vary a lot, many pushing the boundaries of the normal character. This gives a little looseness and helps the lightness in feel I am looking for. It will be interesting to see where this all goes. Most new type around the world is far too perfect for my taste. While the shapes are exquisite, the feel is not human but digital mechanical. I find myself wanting to draw fonts that feel human — as if a person crafted them. In most ways this is a normal font for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. These small caps were very small (x-height as is proper). So Aerle's small caps are a little oversize because they plugged up too bad at x-height size. The bold is halfway between. These size variations seem important and work well in the text. This font has all the OpenType features in the set for 2009. There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg sh sp st ch ck ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more. Tombouctou is the French name for Timbuktu, a city in central Mali. I have been to Timbuktu several times; usually arriving after a three day boat trip up the Niger river. Timbuktu is a smallish city, literally in the middle of nowhere, with a treasure trove of UNESCO listed sights. Tombouctou font is a handmade brush font. It is nice and elegant and will give your designs an ‘oriental’ touch.

Stateside is a bold condensed serif with a vintage feel. It has an urban and, I like to think, urbane character which puts me in mind of classic Thirties architecture like the Rockefeller Centre or the Empire State Building. I did consider calling it Rockefeller, but the family might think it a bit of a liberty, and I can’t afford to get into a copyright battle with them!
