The Typorium presents a new optimized and enriched version of ITC Ellipse which first appeared in 1996 in the International Typeface Corporation typeface library. ITC Ellipse Neo design has been lightly modified. Three weights have been added (light, Medium, Extra Bold, including Italics) to the original Regular and Bold styles. ITC Ellipse Neo is both modern and classic. Modern in the unusual shape based on the geometric ellipse form. And classic in the structure of some letters like the lower cases c, e, g, o, s. These letters alone could come from a traditional typeface, but they fit perfectly with the atypical rest of the alphabet giving it a present-day and traditional mix. Furthermore, the ellipse shape fits naturally in the italic styles, giving the font an organic and fluid feeling. Named after Italy’s northernmost region, Alto Adige is a high-contrast display serif typeface. With its condensed width and bold contrast it is excellent for headlines, packaging, magazines, posters and advertising, among any other display use. Alto Adige has large x-height making it a steady choice for sturdy text blocks with tight leading. In large sizes, you can also try tighter tracking for maximum impact. The Elzeviriano Ibarra or 'Ibarra Gans' was a typography engraved by Carl Winkow in 1931 to Fundición Gans commemorating 50 years since the foundation thereof. It is designed to be used in the book-homage The Maestro Joaquín Ibarra . This type is a combination of the printers selected by Joaquín Ibarra, Spanish printer and typographer and Ezelvir family types, hence its compound classification. Gans Ibarra, designed in 2006 by Paulo W follow the concepts from the original designs from Fundicion Gans. Camelot was the first of over 100 typefaces designed by Frederic Goudy. The upper case characters were drawn in 1896 for the Dickinson Type Foundry. Goudy was so encouraged by his check for $10 (double what he asked for the drawings), that he spent the next 50 years designing type. The lower case was added by the Dickinson foundry. This Lanston digital release includes a Text version based on the smaller point sizes of the metal type and a Display version based on the larger sizes. The two appear different in size but share the exact same line weight when at the same point size.

It’s a fluid type style that is equally at home on food and drink, confectionery and fmcg packaging: my original working title for it was ‘Jelly Bean’, for reasons that should be obvious! (Note to designers: to create the neon glow effect in Photoshop, make a duplicate of the type layer, rasterize it and add a Gaussian blur filter of approx. 50%. Then bring the original type layer to the top and offset it as required).

Jim Spiece has a taste and a talent for reviving type styles from earlier in this century. ITC Deli Supreme is a “futuristic retro” face that would be at home as a logo on a car or a roadside diner from the 1940s or '50s; the lowercase nearly joins, in script style, thanks to the long extenders stretching out from the bottom-right corner of most letters, while the caps have beginning strokes leading in from the top left. ITC Deli Supreme, like ITC Deli Deluxe, features slightly rounded corners on all the letters, for a soft, streamlined look despite the squareness of the letterforms.

I started to work at the Bernhard Studio in 1952 to 1959 in New York. I helped with some type designs and many other projects, this two tiered signature was added on all of Bernhard’s art that was produced in the past and in his later years. In the 50’s I thought Bernhard’s Gothic face was quite a bit outdated but as you may know it has become one of todays most used faces. His signature is based on his Bernhard Gothic Font. With todays computer technology I have digitized the caps and added lower case glyphs with lower ascenders and other slight changes.

Lenga is a kind of beech originally from South America. The explorers who discovered this beech in Tierra del Fuego, thought it looked like a tree from their home country and named it 'Lenga'. Like many of southern hemisphere beeches, the Lenga beech is fast growing and hardy, making it an ideal timber tree. It regenerates easily after fires. The wood has good quality, moderate durable, and easy to work. The Lenga fonts were inspired in the nobility, robustness and flexibility of those trees.
