I come from a family of educators- my mom, husband, stepmom, brother-in-law, and sister are all currently teaching and I have taught in the past. This font was created after speaking to several elementary school teachers who were struggling to find just the right font to use on worksheets and projects in their classroom. They liked many features of other fonts, but needed small things altered in order to make a "perfect fit" for their class. Hand-drawn by me, this font hopefully addresses several of those issues. As penmanship styles vary across the globe, I am sure this font will not work in every classroom. But hopefully this style will work for many teachers to give their early readers a highly legible, neat, accurate font. It is best used with kerning turned on to allow for accurate letter spacing.

"País" is a contemporary and modern grotesque sans serif, inspired by the grotesques of the early 20th century, but more geometric and with a wider x-height than its referents; making it ideal for the current times. This is the Viking font that I developed based on the letters in the Irk Bitig book, which is written with the brush line of the old Turkish runic alphabet, the information below. It was interesting work. Irk Bitig or Irq Bitig (Old Turkic: 𐰃𐰺𐰴 𐰋𐰃𐱅𐰃𐰏‎), known as the Book of Omens or Book of Divination in English, is a 9th-century manuscript book on divination that was discovered in the "Library Cave" of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, China, by Aurel Stein in 1907, and is now in the collection of the British Library in London, England. The book is written in Old Turkic using the Old Turkic script (also known as "Orkhon" or "Turkic runes"); it is the only known complete manuscript text written in the Old Turkic script. It is also an important source for early Turkic mythology.

One would think the whole hippy thing would have died out after the knighting of Mick Jagger and the selling out of the The Who. Not at Canada Type. We still occasionally read Burroughs and Ginsberg, listen to Dylan and Hendrix, and use the backyard to pretend (um, like run barefoot with the dog). And we're always happy to make another psychedelic font. This one is based on an early 1970s film type that went by the names Hoopla and Scorpio. Doobie is a typical hippy font that uses the simplest elements of the art nouveau genre. Bubbly and wavy, Doobie exudes an almost child-like innocence, the ever laid back, optimistic simplicity of flower power. It is right at home alongside the many other psychedelic fonts that make Canada Type the definite home of the groovy alphabet. Far out!

This font family was inspired by a visit to the Duxford Air Museum just outside of Cambridge, UK, where the whole history of aviation is represented in a series of exhibits ranging from early prop planes to supersonic jetliners. A common feature is the clipped, blockletter painted on the wing or fuselage of each aircraft, my interpretation of which I present here. To add an original touch each letter incorporates its designation in the NATO phonetic alphabet. In response to popular demand this font is now available in 'Scotch' and 'Irish' versions. If you take your whiskey with an 'e' choose Oscar Bravo Whiskey. If you prefer it neat, choose Oscar Bravo. And no, I am not going to bring out an Oscar Bravo Bourbon version! In nautical folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ship that can never go home and is doomed to sail the seas forever as a ghost ship. The story of the Dutchman appeared in print in the 1820s. With different versions written over the years, some date the legend to the 1640s or the early 1700s. The Flying Dutchman font is a revival of an 1876 font from MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan Co. The Truetype and OpenType formats include a larger extended character set with Central and Eastern European accented letters. Extra characters in this font are left and right pointing hands in place of the less than and greater than keys and a pirate flag is on the bracket keys. New to this style is the distressed version where the letters look like they've been hacked by a cutlass.

The initial inspiration for CA Spotnik was the opening title of an early Andrei Tarkovsky movie. There was this very unconventional hand drawn “s” which drew my attention. Despite its strange shape, it felt totally natural in that context. So we made a few screenshots and started to sketch some more letters in order to catch the spirit that attracted us so much. The result is a grotesque typeface with a slight contrast, the proportions are rather wide with a large x-height. The bolder the weight, the wider it gets. In case you find the swirly “s” uncomfortable, there is a standard s included as well. The general atmosphere of the typeface, which could be described as “nerdy but friendly” doesn’t depend on this detail. It’s rather the sum of details derived from the original inspiration.

These initials set I collected from Early 15th century manuscript called Claudii Ptolemei Cosmographia, created by the famous Greek scholar Claudius Ptolemaeus in the middle of the 2nd century. The origins of this style called White Vine with interlaced patterns and vine should be found in Ottonian Renaissance manuscripts. Ovink is a rounded type family designed for great distance legibility. Named after the legibility researcher Gerrit Willem Ovink, in its early stages was subjected to experimental legibilty investigations of distance and time threshold methods. The results of this heavily influence the design. The high regularity of the letters also makes the typeface suitable for running text and the wide span of weights motivates a broad usage for the setting of both display and text. Ovink is also loosely inspired by Knud V. Engelhardt’s work for the street signage, designed around the years 1926-27 for Gentofte in Denmark. Being rooted in the Danish typography tradition, Ovink has a sturdy unpretentious look to it, yet compared to its predecessor the curves are tighter, and characters have a higher level of differentiation. Details include 9 weights with matching italics.

Roves is a font family dedicated to exploration, adventure and the early merchants of history. The word rove means “a journey, especially one with no specific destination; an act of wandering”. the family consists of three Stencil versions each with a Regular and Bold weight as well as two Sans versions each also with a regular and bold weight, this is a total of 10 different options to work with. When combined these two fonts create great looking typography that compliment each other but each also strong enough to be used on their own. The Roves family is a display font with a great rust vintage feel to it which gives the user an authenticity when working with typographic projects. The Samba family was inspired by the lettering art of J. Carlos, a Brazilian illustrator during the early 20th century. Turned into a workable series of fonts by the contemporary Brazilian designers Tony and Caio de Marco, Samba is especially recommended for use in logos, flyers, posters, and tattoos! This family offers the user a chance to mix three different styles of lettering into one coherent design, which can be very useful in solving certain design problems. While the regular Samba face is made up of mono-line letters, the style of Samba bold offers much more of a thick to thin contrast. The Samba Expert set displays lavish swash endings, which were inspired by Brazilian metal work. The Samba family was one of the winners selected during the 2003 International Type Design Contest, sponsored by Linotype GmbH.

JMTF Robin is a new post-modernist typeface in the spirit of Art & Crafts, born as a concept of a reformulation of a Gothic traditional building structure. Interestingly medieval structural architectural rescue form is for creating a font of traits absolutely contemporary without losing its artisan flavor. JMTF Robin is then a modular typography with very specific characteristics that provides an innovative texts while an appearance of great personality. Early versions of Robin was winners in Letras Latinas 2006. JMTF Robin representing a before and after in terms of contemporary texts composition. JMTF Robin is a typeface family that is presented in a wide variety of forms, from JMTF Robin in condensed forms to other roman proportions like Robin9, ideal for text, also JMTF Robin comes in Shadow and Double Outline. I dedicate this letter to creative genius William Morris father of modernism.

Since the 1800s, many patents were issued for methods to hold papers together. The two most popular and enduring tools still in use today are the stapler and the paper clip. In recent times a number of clips in novelty shapes have been available in just about every size, shape and color imaginable. Back in the beginning there were many variations as well, but the purpose of these design variants was to try and command the majority of sales in the fledgling market of bent wire clips by offering a unique and hopefully better product. Fastenating JNL contains twenty-five images based on those early clip designs as well as one classic paper fastener (on the Z and z keys). The standard gem clip has been the most enduring design and is well over one hundred years old.

Rough-hewn industrial geometric typefaces have been used and admired from early wood types through the digital age of Machine and beyond, but they have lacked an expansive enough family to become a true workhorse. The Tradesman family finds its origin of inspiration in the Craftsman tool company logo, and from there expands to type megafamily. Tradesman celebrates the angular octagonal forms of industrial lettering, transcending its brand inspired origin to give birth to a font family that pulls on modern and historical styles. It inherited its reliably tough tone from the all capitals lettering that inspired it, and goes on to include a lowercase, small caps style, and a comprehensive range of widths and weights, creating a straightforward, uncompromising collection of typefaces that lend a solid foundation and a broad range of expression for designers.

Although it boasts plenty of the traits of its origins (early screen technologies), it manages to maintain a balance between the elements of its 1980s origins and the mechanical yet transparent late 20th century techno/pop design. Precise and geometric, solid and strong, Screener looks great on screen as well as in print, in tracked small sizes as well as in teaser headlines. Screener comes in two widths and weights, with italics, and extra sets of symbols and numerals (enclosed, fractions, superiors, inferiors, etc.), as well as two weights of small caps. Screener is available in separate packages, or in a value package that contains all twelve fonts.

Initially released in 2013 Corbert was a big hit and was named one of the most popular fonts of the year by MyFonts. Following on from its success the design is updated and remastered to meet the latest standards of The Northern Block and to satisfy critical issues put forward by the most demanding of users. A geometric sans serif typeface influenced by Bauhaus and the early modernist era. Precise shapes are optically adjusted to create a clear, natural typeface with excellent legibility. Corbert is a regular, self-evident design that works well across a wide range of applications. Details include nine weights with matching italics and over 540 characters per style. Opentype features consist of five variations of numerals, including inferiors, superiors, fractions, alternative lowercase a, e and g, and language support covering Western, South, and Central Europe.

MotionBats are a sort of movable type otherwise. It is a symbol font type family integrated by 9 styles. The idea behind designs is to give to typographic pictograms –static for definition– the dimension of motion. In pursue of this spirit, each font shows a complete motion sequence. MotionBats are inspired on the photographic work of Eadweard J. Muybridge [1830-1904] –a talented multi-faceted Englishman– who worked in USA by the second half of the 19th century. In those early times of photography, he started –almost by chance– taking a comprehensive and impressive photographic sequential series of human and animal locomotion. This way, he placed himself more than a decade ahead from the beginning of cinematography. This type design family points to pay a humble and certainly incomplete homage to such a pioneering and amazing Muybridge's work.

Adolf Rusch von Ingweiler, was in the 19 th century known mysteriously as the “R'' printer. He was the first printer North of the Alps to introduce the new Roman style of type known now as Antiqua. He was active in the city of Strasbourg from around the early 1460's to 1489. One wonders if the unusual form of “R'' was a personal conceit. This font is, therefore, an Antiqua style font and has over a 1000 defined glyphs with wide support for medieval characters that have since fallen out of use. The baseline was slightly tidied up in order to give the printed text an even cleaner look than the original. The letters are very close approximations of the original type catalogued by the “Veröffentlichungen der Gesellschaft für Typenkunde des 15. Jahrhunderts” as Typ.1:103R GfT1197.

The font is based on an alphabet from a mid1920s art deco book. The original seemed to have tapering strokes but it was too small to be sure; I made all strokes parallel & orthogonal and slightly modified the original in a number of other ways to bring it into the 21st Century. The designers of the original were Paul Carlyle and Guy Oring. Nocturne has all the elegance of the Deco fonts of the 1930s. It recalls the romantic, sophisticated Zeitgeist of the early 20th century, that nostalgic time "between the wars". Nocturne comes in two styles: Nocturne Regular, which uses the Art Deco convention of small x height, and long ascenders. This style is perfect for headers, posters, labels etc. Nocturne Book, which, with its higher x height and slightly wider characters, is extremely legible and suitable for small size text.

Supera Gothic is a design inspired by the early geometric and humanist typefaces of the 20th century. Its characters draw inspiration from Erbar Grotesk by Jakob Erbar and Johnston by Edward Johnston; hence, in heavier weights, the “f” and “t” bars are pointed which honor Erbar’s work, and Supera’s uppercases and numbers reflect Johnston’s proportions and features. The result is a sans serif family with both, a historical and modern touch perfectly suited for all types of graphic works. Super Gothic comes in 9 weights plus its matching italics and is equipped with a large range of opentype features. Fun fact, Erbar had attended calligraphy classes carried out by Anna Simons, who was a former student of Johnston (Tracy, 1986). Maybe in modern times, they had met through social media, and some collaborative work would have risen, who knows.

Inspired by geometric forms from visual tendencies in the early 2000s, it was used once in corporate identity. Originally created in 1998, it remained unpublished by its author until today. Designed by Alfonso García and Latinotype Team. Rawson is inspired by early humanist sans-serif English typefaces. We have added a bit of Johnston, a bit of Gill and a lot of Latinotype to the font. Rawson is an elegant font—but definitely not a black tie one—with the strength of a geometric sans but as friendly as a humanist typeface. Yes Dear is a hopefully humorous acknowledgement that men and women communicate differently — one of those Mars-Venus things. Women tend to talk about their feelings. Men hide in the cave. It sounds funny, but it can have serious consequences in people’s lives and their relationships. T. D. Jakes deals with the subject effectively in his DVD, He-Motions. We guys need to find our way out of the cave. Our women need to recognize what is going on and gently help us emerge from the cave. Men and women were certainly never meant to be identical, but it would be useful if we could learn to communicate our feelings in more healthy and effective ways. Yes Dear has a full character set, including accented caps. Two empty frames are provided at positions 135 & 137. The original Jessen typeface, named in reminiscence of the great supporter of the printing art at the end of the 19th century, Peter Jessen, was designed in the years of 1924 until 1930. Bible Gothic was created by the famous German designer Rudolf Koch. Ralph M. Unger digitized this font exclusively for profonts in 2005, keeping his digitization as close as possible to the original design of Koch in order to preserve the distinguished character and the partly unconventional, original forms. The concept of a Bible Gothic was developing for years in Koch's mind and drove the direction of his work, but only after the experience with his Neuland design could he start the creation of his Peter Jessen typeface. Produced quite like Neuland, Jessen, however, is much more refined and more accurate in detail than Neuland. At first glance, it seems to look plain and simple, but if you look closer, the richness of its distinguished upper case forms unfold to a perfectly clear flow of text

Acuta is a new all-purpose text serif with a good readability and a contemporary, robust look thanks to its low-medium contrast. The differences between thicks and thins are less strongly marked than in oldstyle text faces; yet the diagonal stress needed to facilitate reading is partly provided by the letter shape itself: sharp angles and italic construction give the right dynamism to the text. Acuta becomes very distinctive as a headline, while its big x-height makes it suitable for texts at rather small sizes too. The family consists of seven weights & correspondent italics, with a large character set. The Book and Medium weights, relatively close to each other, can both be used as “plain” weight depending on the size of the text, background color or backlighting. Small caps, oldstyle and tabular figure alternates, superiors and inferiors and ligatures are available in all styles through OpenType features. Other guys may imitate him, but the original is still the greatest!
