The cover of the 1938 sheet music for "Treasure Island March" had its title hand lettered in a rough-hewn Western style with overtones of Art Deco influence. All of the characters were "cleaned up" for the digital font, but still retain the basic designs with their irregular, eccentric look. Madisonian has been found in a catalogue of the New York Bruce type-foundry, dated 1859. The lower cases have the feeling of a Bodoni Italic and the initials have a "spencerian" touch. This font did exist originaly in a single weight. The family has been extended with a bold and an engraved version.

Another of the “must have” wood types for those doing poster work with an old-time flavor. Very readable, therefore very useful. We did ads for an old western tourist railroad, and used this often. This was put together by Dan X. Solo to provide a quick way to set headings for a circus brochure. The name was given in recognition of the Baraboo Circus Museum. The end pieces are in pairs on the uppercase keys A-B, C-D, etc. The alphabet itself is in the lowercase position.

Bedtime Jewel was inspired by a kids drawing in the kindergarten, and I did my best to keep the childish approach while keeping the legibility. CompassOne was a design I began in 1990 or so, but did not bother to finish until five years later. Its name comes from the fact that all the letters could have been drawn with a compass (which draws circles) and a straight edge. The typeface Demotte was a further development of this design idea.
