Monospasz means mono-fun in English. It's spelled with 'sz' instead of 'ß' for all you english speaking folks out there who always mistake it with a 'B'. Monospaced fonts keep on drawing attention to them because their proportions stand out from the canon of common fonts. "Yuck. Look at the condensed little m. Isn't that ludicrous?" But Monospasz isn't copycatting traditional typewriters, the most popular of monospaced fonts. It's completely manually ink-written and hand crafted. Newsletter is not a real monospaced font but has the ease of recognition these fonts have - even though these fonts are often criticized for their aesthetic qualities. Newsletter has a computer-related impression but is more legible and aesthetic than real monospaced fonts are. Since 2006 Newsletter is the corporate font of the design agency "die Typonauten". It is eminently suitable for correspondence use. After a testing period and fine tuning it is now published.

The inspiration for Mimosa comes directly from the packaging for “Moulinard Jeune”, a line of French toiletries from the 1920s. I created the 240-odd glyphs needed to make up a complete font based upon the style of a handful of hand-lettered characters that were used on the original items. Mimosa is a mono-weight, connecting vertical script with a fairly regular set of lower case and slightly more decorative upper case glyphs. As with any decorative script, if you set copy in all caps, you will be tracked down and severely punished by the type police.

With the famous and much used Eurostile and Bank Gothic in my mind I wanted to design a mono-line font as simple and legible as possible. A square with rounded corners, i.e., the letter ‘o’ as its basis. From there on back to basics, so straights remained simple straights with 90° endings, whatever the angle. Numbers are monospaced. The result seems to be a pleasantly balanced and neutral font. Excellent for display purposes and surprisingly legible in even small sizes. This perhaps typical approach by an architect led to the name of the font: ArchiType.

Sondela is a gently rounded, informal font, whose name means "welcome" or "come closer". It echoes the openhearted tradition of the Zulu people, where all who come are welcome. The font is available in regular and display (Pizazz) versions. Sondela Pizazz incorporates the zig-zag pattern that has been used in traditional Zulu beadwork for generations. It is highly effective when used in conjunction with the unadorned Sondela regular. The numerals are mono-spaced so that they will line up correctly in columns of figures. The letters of the alphabet are correctly kerned so that they appear correctly in text.

An upright typeface family developed to meet the demand for letters to produce pupil material for handwriting as well as for reading. Upright letters with extended ascenders and descenders are ideal on screen. They facilitate word recognition.
