The purpose of this monospace font is to display braille in an original although rather steganographic way. Its glyphs are built from a flat hexagon which can be read as 3 rows of 2 vertices (i.e. regular braille glyph grid). The initial design is illustrated by glyphs 'ç' (no dot) and 'û' (6 dots) as shown by poster 5. Glyphs are connected to each other, thus 6 connections for each hexagon (2 on left/right and 4 on top/bottom). In the final design many diagonal segments of the hexagon were removed for esthetical reason. Text is displayed not as a honeycomb but as a lattice instead which mixes hexagons, squares and "irregular convex octagons" (mostly unclosed), the design favored squares over octagons. The whole slightly resembling a PCB. Text can be framed with 3 sets of Frame glyphs (as shown in Poster 4): Octagonal: { €, °, £, µ, §, ¥, ~, ¢ } which can be mixed with Rectangular High Rectangular Low: { è, é, ê, ï, î, à, â, ä } Rectangular High: { Â, ù, Ä, Ê, Ë, ô, õ, ë } which can be mixed with Octagonal NB: When using Frame glyphs, it is advised to show Pilcrow (¶) and Non Breaking Space, which are replaced by empty shapes (e.g. in Microsoft Word, use CTRL+8 or use [¶] button in the ribbon).

Dynamic and sportive. A well-balanced experiment for sparkling headlines. Glance Slab is an experimental design that plays on the tension between connection and detachment. In this typeface, serifs may be detached and some strokes may not connect to their stems. This creates a dynamic impression of balance and movement. The elegance of an ice skater and the determination of a quarterback: Glance Sans has it all. Where a curve meets a stem and where serifs seem to “hover” near their respective letters, the nonjoining elements create an impression similar to a stencil typeface. But here, the function of the gaps differs from strictly stencil designs: while the gaps provide a “sparkling” effect in Glance Slab that’s clearly visible in large sizes, they take on the role of ink traps when set smaller, making for surprisingly legible body copy. With its strong visual character, this font family is quickly recognizable, making it perfectly suitable for branding and any large-scale application, such as posters, billboards, and event signage. Glance Slab consists of seven weights from Thin to Black. Each style has a character set of about 570 glyphs, which includes circled numbers and arrows (positive and negative versions), ligatures, extended language support, and many other features.

The design process of this font was rudely interrupted on August 11th, 2015, when my first child, Hazel, was born. Thinking up names for fonts can be tricky, as can thinking up names for babies, so when the font was finally finished, it seemed like a good idea to kill two birds with one stone, and here it is: Hazel Script. Hazel Script is a finely crafted, elegant, connecting script. I wanted to make something unique, and to this end, the contrast in the face is not based on any ductal logic, or the writing of some imagined tool. The thick parts of glyphs are purely aesthetic devices, placed to give the otherwise monoline font an interesting rhythm. The over-sized upper case letters follow a mid-century lettering skeleton, and swash forms can be used judiciously to add spice to the text. Hazel Script works "out of the box" but to really get the best out of it, use OpenType-savvy programs to unlock a world of swashes, alternates, ligatures and the like. In detail, the features are as follows: Swash - alternate forms for many glyphs Stylistic Sets - 1: script r, 2: alternate s, 3: script z, 4 and 5: more swash options, 4,5,6 and 7: access to alternate ampersands (the font boasts six to choose from!), 8: connecting forms for K, L, R, X and Z. Localised forms - ij digraphs for Dutch, and a script lslash for Polish. Standard ligatures - a mixture of ligatures, including the 'percent off' (just type "% off") and a heart that connects to the ends of words (type "<3") Automatic fractions Ordinals - a and o for Spanish etc. but also s,t,r,d,h and n for English 1st 2nd and 3rd etc. Contextual alternates - automatically places special start and end glyphs where necessary. Hazel Script would look great in glossy magazines set large, or would make a slightly unorthodox choice for wedding stationery, birth announcements, letterheads...

Centennial Script was designed and cut by Hermann Ihlenburg in 1876 (the centennial of American independence, hence the typeface's name) for the MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan foundry in Philadelphia. Ihlenburg was then only 33 years old, and these beautiful forms put him on his way to become the most prolific and innovative deco, ornamental and script typeface designer and punch cutter of the nineteenth century. In trying to be a true homage to the history of the new world, Centennial Script transcends its then-contemporary deco fashion to embrace script elements historically similar to lettering found on maps or political documents of the 18th century. Letters like the p and s extend themselves high and mighty to accentuate words and lines of text in a fancy hand-drawn manner. The dots on the i and j are those of a careful scribe who acknowledges the importance of the document being lettered. The lowercase letters connect with two slight angular motions of the hand, also very carefully and elegantly. Even the ligatures and ending swashes Ihlenburg made for this face were reminiscent of a mapmaker's patient hand, though Ihlenburg's elegant touch in them cannot be mistaken. Although Centennial Script was one of the few Ihlenburg faces to make it to film type technology, the transition was neither credited nor faultless. The film type version was a bit sloppy in the way the connectors were made, so the lowercase needed a lot of manual work to typeset properly. To alleviate such waste of time for the user of this digital version, the connectors were redrawn according to the original metal ones made by Ihlenburg himself, and tested thoroughly in print to ensure the quality of the typeface's flowing cursive nature. This wasn't an easy task, and very time-consuming, since the changing angles on both ends of the connection made it impossible to escape from having to build every lowercase letter with both left and right connectors that would fit with the rest of the letters. This is one typeface that couldn't be revived in any other manner than the way it was originally made, regardless of more than 130 years of technological advances since the face was designed. Centennial Script comes in all popular font formats, and supports most Latin-based languages. Also included is an Alts fonts that contains alternates, ligatures, snap-on swash endings, some ornaments, as well as a complete set of the lowercase without left side connectors, for a more natural combination when following a majuscule, or just in case the user finds it fit to set the copy in a non-connecting script instead of the face's original connected flow. Centennial Script Pro, the OpenType version, combines the main font with the Alts font in a feature-packed single font. Use the ligature feature to set wordmarks like Mr, Ms, Mrs, Dr, and &Co, the stylistic alternates feature to replace some letters with their alternative forms, the contextual alternates feature for better uppercase-lowercase sequences, and the titling feature to set your text in a disconnected script. Linotype Nowe Ateny is part of the Take Type Library, which features the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. Designed by Dariusz Nowak-Nova, Nowe Ateny is a frantic handwriting font whose capital letters include technical-looking grid lines and end points.
