The ITC Blair™ typeface is a revival and reimaging of an early 20th century metal typeface of the same name. Even though only available as single weights of extended and condensed proportions, metal fonts of the face were sold well into the 1950s. In 1997, Jim Spiece resurrected the original extended design for digital imaging and, in the process, added two new weights. Almost 20 years later, he collaborated with Monotype type designers to extend the basic family again. The result was a new suite of three condensed designs and italic complements for all the roman weights. The family also benefits from a large set of alternative glyphs and many OpenType® features.

Journal type family is a low-contrast text face of the Ionic-Legibility group. It was designed at the Polygraphmash Type Design Bureau in 3 styles in 1951–53 by Lev Malanov and Elena Tsaregorodtseva. The fonts were based on Cyrillic version of Excelsior that was developed in 1936 in Moscow by professor Michael Shchelkunov, Nikolay Kudryashev et al., that in its turn was based on Excelcior by Chauncey H. Griffith, 1931, Mergenthaler Linotype. Digital version was developed in ParaGraph (ParaType) in 1991. In 2012–13 designer Natalia Vasilyeva made some corrections in original digital data, extended character set and add bold italic style. The family was rereleased in ParaType in 2013.

Annonce is a digitization and expansion of a 1912 Johannes Wagner Foundry classic called Aurora Grotesk, which also circulated later on in metal under the name Annonce. Bold, extended and clear as a bell, Annonce stood out as the definite big sign font long before the Helveticas of the world. With angled cuts on some of the letters, it also shows humanistic traits that make it more appealing than any other face in its genre. The Annonce set comes in two fonts, a regular and an italic, and includes a very large character set that accommodates almost all Latin-based languages, including Turkish, Baltic, Celtic, Maltese, Esperanto, and the languages of Central and Eastern Europe.

Sommet Slab Round is the latest in the Sommet series, designed as a slab serif companion to Sommet Rounded. The typeface features slightly wider counters to accommodate the serifs and this more generous whitespace allows the typeface to display well on-screen and as a webfont. Rounded serifs give the face more warmth than the original Sommet Slab, which is strong, rigid and technical. Sommet Slab Rounded’s serifs are not just blunted, but slightly obliqued, giving the face dynamic forward momentum. This geometric typeface is based on bold and clean rounded rectangles. It’s soft and friendly look lends itself to a number of applications. It would be a fine choice for tech company logotypes, magazine headlines and can be used for body copy. The typeface family also includes some alternate titling forms. These alternates can be accessed by activating OpenType features and style sets. In order to use these OpenType features, you will need a program with advanced typography capabilities such as the Adobe Suite or Quark. These alternates include a group of simplified forms that can be accessed under the swash alternates. Sommet Slab is just the latest in the versatile Sommet superfamily from insigne. UTOPIAN is a color font family based on primary colors and pure geometric shapes, influenced by Bauhaus, DeStijl and Art Deco. The Sabon® Georgian design translates the original Sabon typeface into Georgian language. Its old style Latin-based design traits and proportions have been carefully and beautifully interpreted as Georgian script characters. In the early 1960s, a group of German master printers wanted a typeface family which would provide them with consistent and predictable results, whether it was used as machine or hand-set composition. They approached one of Germany’s most distinguished type designers, Jan Tschichold, to undertake the design task. The end result of the design commission is a typographic tour de force, and the face that establishes Tschichold’s reputation as a type designer. The completed design, released in 1966, not only solved the imposed design problem of the early 1960s, it is also an exceptionally beautiful and useful digital design. Lectio is a Roman font based on a Venetian Renaissance early typefaces, but with a modern and expressive design. His obvious calligraphic influence favors continuous text reading. The generous internal "eye" gives Lectio an appropriate legibility, its soft and organic modulation avoids fatigue, its robust character is attractive and stimulating in large bodies, especially for use in headlines. Lectio comes in two versions: Lectio and Lectio B. Lectio has seven weight and their corresponding slanted variables (true italics). Lectio B is composed only of Italics in six weight. The ascenders are slightly lower, the descending are more regular and the oblique trace of some letters have a more constant rhythm. Each of these faces has the optimum amount of contrast agains the background and clear and open internal letter shape. These fonts include diacritics for CE languages, Old Style figures, standard and discretional ligatures.

Amigo was designed by Arthur Baker in 1989 and consists of a single weight. Its basic forms are based on Venetian old face types, as can be seen for example in the slightly slanted cross stroke of the lower case e. But Baker also gave his figures eccentric contours, for example, a marked stroke contrast which gives the look of having been written with a broad-tipped pen, and the change in stroke is by no means regular in the lower case characters. The heavier upper parts become thinner as they progress downward, in contrast to the tendency of most text typefaces. The eccentricity of the forms give the characters a lively almost comic look and is best highlighted in large point sizes. However, Amigo is also legible in point sizes as small as 10 and well-suited for middle length texts and headlines.

Lemonite (Regular and Expanded) is a self examination in whether, after five years without attempting to design any new fonts, I was still capable of creation. Lemonite is the result, and even though its plain, it showed me I could still work. I have made two of the face free to anyone who wishes to have a look, so please feel free, no obligations, to take them and use them if you have a use. Why so long ? Well, we do age, and with age comes the usual benefits, like Glaucoma and a touch of Arthritis in the old digits, and that's made computer work a little… interesting for me over the past couple of years. Anyway, if you don't find my humble offering of any use, please search the fontbase on Myfonts, and you will sure to find a suitable font from one of the fantastic designers there.

Aure Nox inspires the chill whimsy of a haunted forest. The roughhewn forms of this decorative, sans-serif font engage the reader with a subtext of rakish charm. Once I set on the concept for this ‘Origami’ inspired font, I used an imaginary strip of folded paper as the basis for each character, the folded effect being realized fully by incorporating an incised line. Of course the folded paper aspect is just a two dimensional illusion but subconsciously, will automatically be interpreted three dimensionally. There are numerous options for creating alternative characters following this logic, as the centuries-old Origami tradition itself illustrates quite clearly, but I wanted to maintain an ordered sense of style and balance throughout the full character set, so avoided any unnecessary flourishes, staying true to the Japanese ethos and spirit.

Physe. Physe is a basic set of fonts, designed for scrapbooking and general use. It comes in a variety of versions, with a light version, expanding up to bold. Many hurdles were taken to finalize this version, both physical and electronic. Like all of us, as I grow older, my glaucoma keeps pace with my arthritis, while I look on in amusement, hedging my bets on which will be the one to finally complete my retirement.

Tosca is a new face designed by TOMO FONTS. Is a massive all-caps font with a stone age feel. Good-humoured shapes ideal strong messages. Very useful for kids related stuff, like books, posters, or websites. Lowercases are a slightly different from uppercases for a more natural look. Enjoy!

Mang is an 11 point (or 22 pt or 44 pt etc.) bitmap font that was originally designed for a poetry piece in Born Magazine. It is slightly quirky but works well as a text face. You can use it for screen resolution or print designs as it includes outlines.

Antibes is a casual italic face with print caps and cursive lowercase letters. Antibes works well with colorful, freeform illustration and travel-related material like illustrated travel brochures and callouts for maps. All-caps paragraphs are an easy read and letter-spaced all-cap treatments can be used for titling.

We know very little about this font. A printer in Lisbon had it, but said it came from England. Nicolette Gray shows it in her Nineteenth Century Ornamented Type Faces as Lord Mayor from the British Typefoundry. We never got the complete font, but drawing the missing letters was not difficult.
