SPECX Stencil This is my #11/12 Font a slabserif typeface. In fact it’s a very, very basic and extreme strong typeface! We gave this new Font a special touch by adding an extra family-member: a stencil-version of the SPECX. My inspiration for the SPECX is based on the cover of a 1955 French School-Notebook. Sunlight JNL takes the classic wood type from Jeff Levine's Twelve Oaks JNL and shatters it with bursts of light for a novelty effect. Limited to a very basic character set, it's best used for short words and phrases in headlines.

Fairgrounds JNL is the direct descendant of Twelve Oaks JNL, complete with a field of stars to draw attention to your layout for political posters, holiday events, charity bazaars, local fairs or any project that needs extra emphasis in its headlines.

The term starboard derives from the Old English steorbord, meaning the side on which the ship is steered. Before the steering wheel, boats were steered by an oar at the stern of the ship. Since most sailors were right handed, this is where you would find your steering oar! Starboard font is a rough, handmade, brushy kinda font. It was, of coarse, made with my favourite cheep brush and Chinese ink - resulting in a slightly eroded looking font. Starboard comes with all the trimmings, including double letter ligatures for the lower case.

The perfect companion to Twelve Oaks JNL is this condensed sans serif font created by Jeff Levine from scans of actual wooden type blocks. Ingomar JNL [named after a town in Montana] continues the charm and nostalgia associated with this type of lettering.

This is Alter Littera’s second original design. It started as an attempt at translating into roman forms the lowercase metrics of classic blackletters, in particular those of The Oldtype “Alter Gotisch” Font. Eventually, the design process led naturally to an innovative and modern re-creation of the overall forms and style of classic bold condensed letters from the early twentieth century, especially those of the “Century Bold Condensed” type from American Type Founders (ATF) Company’s American Specimen Book of Type Styles, Jersey City, 1912 (pp. 274-7) [also seen in McGrew, M. (1993), American Metal Typefaces of the Twentieth Century, New Castle: Oak Knoll Books (pp. 76-7)]. In addition to the usual standard characters for typesetting in modern Western languages, the font includes a comprehensive set of special characters, alternates, ligatures and ornaments, plus Opentype features, that can be used for creating distinctive and attractive texts with virtually unlimited variations. The glyphs are clean, smooth and definitely readable, so the font will be suitable not only for large titles and headings, but also for full text pages. In the early days of PostScript fonts, I designed a font of leaves called XLeafMeAlone. In 2006 I decided to revisit this topic and the result was two sets of new leaf fonts: MapleOaks and MoreLeaves. MapleOaks contains almost 100 images of maple, oak, and sycamore leaves, and MoreLeaves has almost 100 images of leaves of various other species. There are four MapleOak fonts. They have identical images; only the orientation of the images is different. In MapleOaksUR the tips of the leaves point to the upper right, in MapleOaksDR the tips point down to the right, etc.
