As a graphic designer, sometimes it’s impossible not to be inspired by the Swiss Style, specifically the work of Armin Hofmann, who is one of its best exponents. Grids and grotesk and neo-grotesk typefaces are a fundamental part of the tools that make this aesthetic possible. A visual language that has caused full admiration since we were students. Therefore, we decided to design Armin as an homage to Hofmann’s work. Technically, we added stylistic sets applied to the letters –G, R, a, g, h, l, m, n, r, t, u, y– to make Armin more eclectic and suitable for the creation of any visual language.

Sign and Display JNL is a long-overdue companion font to 2009’s Sign and Poster JNL. The original design models were Art Deco influenced die-cut cardboard letters and numbers manufactured by the Duro Decal Company of Chicago. Square in shape with rounded corners, the thick cardboard letters were used for making show-cards and other display signage. Subsequently, Duro used the same style of lettering to manufacture water-applied decals for boat identification and other uses. It was a set of these decals (with a black outline and yellow interior) that inspired the outline typeface Sign and Display JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Henry VII draws it's inspiration from an inscription in Westminster Abbey dedicated to the memory of His Late Majesty of the same appellation. However, it is also in large part in the best tradition of 19th and 20th century Tudor revival. The inscription consisted wholly and completely of Capital Letter forms and we have 'imagined' all the rest in similar style, so Henry VII is very much a Mock Tudor work. Never the less, we feel it is great fun and ideal for lending an aire of 'Olde England' to any piece of design. Best used with 'Greensleeves' playing ever so softly in the background!

Chianti was designed at Bitstream by senior designer Dennis Pasternak in 1991 and initially released in 1995. The intent behind the design was to provide a humanist sanserif of high readability at a wide range of sizes and weights. Humanist sanserifs (others that fall into this category are Linotype’s Frutiger and Optima, and Monotype’s Gill Sans) are an attempt to improve the readability of sanserifs by applying classical roman structure to the letterforms. To enhance its versatility, Mr. Pasternak designed a wide variety of alternate characters, rare ligatures, ornaments and swashes. Agakê is a typography for comics with 03 weights, variations in italics and shadow. It has 432 glyphs with support for multiple languages and was designed to adapt to a variety of styles and narrative genres, whether adventure, fiction, graphic novel or even superhero. Traditionally, the typeface in the comics are applied in capital letters, seeking the optimization of the space without losing the readability. But Agakê was designed to work also in lowercase, allowing a greater number of combinations and an incredible reading experience. Valuing the foundations of the graphic narrative, Agakê obtains total harmony next to the most diverse styles of illustration of the comic books.

Pressroom is a modern "legibility face," designed to be easy-to-read under even the harshest conditions. As you might expect of such a typeface, it's got an ample x-height, robust serifs, and minimalist descenders -- but Pressroom displays more grace and allure than most families of this kind. (Its designer nonetheless describes Pressroom as having "the sophistication of a crocodile.") Pressroom has regular, italic, and bold italic styles, along with a special black weight intended for headlines, callouts, and other display uses. Numerals are semi-cap in all but the black, where they are fully lining. Would work well in newsletters, flyers, office forms, or even periodicals.
