It is a source created in the most faithful way possible to how it would be drawn with a stylus pen of that moment. Suitable for titles or capital letters. A page from the 1931 Vitrolite catalog showing illustrations of store fronts and building exteriors utilizing the material provided a classically Art Deco type example. The business name “Sylvin” did not offer many characters to work with, so completion of the digital type design was simply left to imagination. The end result is Structural Glass JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions According to Wikipedia: “Pigmented structural glass, also known generically as structural glass and as vitreous marble, and marketed under the names Carrara glass, Sani Onyx, and Vitrolite, among others, is a high-strength, colored glass. Developed in the United States in 1900, it was widely used around the world in the first half of the 20th century in Art Deco and Streamline Moderne buildings. It also found use as a material for signs, tables, and areas requiring a hygienic surface. Over time, the trademarked name “vitrolite” became a generic term for the glass.”

Glitzy is a caps-only font with extreme contrast. It was inspired by Art Deco typefaces, especially Broadway by Morris Fuller Benton, but Glitzy is not an attempt to reproduce that typeface. The letters on the lower-case keys differ slightly from the letters on the upper-case keys. The large black interiors invite decoration and the family includes four faces with interior decoration. These four faces with interior decoration can be used in layers with the base font to add color to lettering. (OakPark is a another attempt to do high-contrast lettering with an Art Deco feel.)

After filling her sketch book with ideas, Emanuela and Jason extracted the elements that both felt could work in a font. The process yielded a whole crop of starting points for future designs as well as a focus for FS Blake as a striking, characterful, almost industrial font.

Vaudeville JNL started out as the re-drawing of an angular Art Deco font hand-lettered on some old publications for sale online. After completing the basic alphabet, it was realized that it just didn't look good -- so a more traditional letter form was adapted to represent the style and times.

The 1955 British edition of the sheet music for Frank Sinatra's hit "I'm Walking Behind You" had its title hand lettered in a sans serif design straight out of the Art Deco era. This bold, condensed type style is now available as Top Tune JNL; in both regular and oblique versions.

Nightowl JNL is a headline font encased in rectangles inspired by an Art Deco hand-lettered alphabet found in a 1941 edition of the Speedball® Lettering Pen instruction book. There is only a basic character set plus two different width blank rectangles located on the greater and lesser keys.

Sheet music for the song "My Ideal" (from the 1930 Paramount picture "Playboy of Paris" starring Maurice Chevalier) had the name of the movie hand lettered in an Art Deco, Broadway-influenced type design. This became the inspiration for Parisian Playboy JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Retro was designed by Colin Brignall and Andrew Smith and comes in two weights, bold and bold condensed. They are all cap, slab serif typefaces which were inspired by a number of historical artistic movements: Constructivist, Bauhaus, Art Deco and Streamline. Aladin is a calligraphic art deco face with an eastern touch, designed by Angel Koziupa and produced by Alejandro Paul. The 1939 sheet music for “Sea Dreams” had its title hand lettered in an unusual Art Deco style that employed many unusual character shapes and widths within the font design. A teardrop-shaped ‘D’, a slightly off-kilter ‘S’ and a number of other interesting variations became the model for Seahawk JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The term “Seahawk” is another name for an Osprey.

The American Sign Museum in Cincinnati houses an amazing collection of vintage signage from all kinds of sources and covering many eras of retail advertising. Someone visiting the museum posted online an image of one particular piece of glass with hand lettering saying “gold leaf” in a bold Art Deco stencil style. Etched Stencil JNL was inspired by that image and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The beautiful Art Deco monoline pen lettering on the cover of a 1940s piece of sheet music inspired Central Park JNL. The 1940s was an era when couples took romantic walks along the pathways of Manhattan's Central Park or rode around it in hansom cabs. Big bands played at the major clubs and ballrooms and "uptown" meant the well-to-do. Men dressed in their tuxedos and top hats and the ladies were in their jewels and evening gowns.

Waverly CF combines the tone and flow of art deco with updated, clean letterforms and a modernized construction. Variation in letter width creates a pleasant rhythm perfect for artwork and logos. This family was inspired from the set of fontfaces used by Francisco Del Hierro, to print in 1726 the first Spanish language Dictionary from the Spanish Royal Academy (Real Academia Española, Diccionario de Autoridades). These two Transitional styles are said to have been the first set of official typeface in Spain, like the French “Reale” (take a look at our "[/fonts/glc/1790-royal-printing/ 1790 Royale Printing)". In our two styles (Regular & Italic), fontfaces, kernings and spaces are as closely as possible the same as in the original. This Pro font is covering Western, Eastern and Central European, Baltic and Turkish languages, with standard and “s long” ligatures and twin letters in each of the two styles and a few Italic swashes inspired from the font used in 1746 by the same printer for another edition from the Royal Academy.

Part of the first typeface release package from ITC in 1970, Busorama melds Art Deco and 70s flower-power into a delightful sans serif design. Designed by Tom Carnase, this three-weight sans serif family still turns heads.

The opening title card for 1940's "Two Girls on Broadway" was the basis for Ticket Booth JNL. A typical Art Deco typeface, its features include a squared letter shape with rounded corners and a thin character weight.

An unusual take on Art Deco "streamlined" alphabets is found in Farragut JNL from Jeff Levine. Over-extended serifs on some letters and elongated horizontal strokes on others make for a new approach to a traditional lettering style.

Table Fortu JNL is a revival of an Art Deco font that has all the classic nuances of the period. Re-drawn from scratch by Jeff Levine, it contains additional characters and accents not found in the original.

Jeff Levine Fonts offers its interpretation of Tea Chest, an Art Deco serif stencil font originally designed in 1939 by Robert Harling for the Stephenson-Blake type foundry. Pekoe JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Kaffemoster is a Swedish slang word for a lady, usually a bit older, who likes to drink coffee and gossip while she’s drinking it. I have decided to study a bit of Swedish, so I downloaded an app and I am practising my Swedish vocabulary every night! Det går långsamt, men jag klarar det! Kaffemoster is a nice, handmade pencil font. It comes with extensive language support (including Swedish) and a nice set of alternates for the lower case letters. Kaffemoster är ett riktigt bra typsnitt!

Nadsat is a unicase display typefaces with a condensed, art deco styling. Best suited for short texts or display settings, the lowercase and capital letters can be combined to offer more layout possibilities. The typeface also includes a series of ligatures and alternate characters for even more layout options.

Inline Retro JNL is Art Deco in style, featuring condensed characters and its namesake inline. While not a true revival of a vintage design, the same influences are utilized throughout the font to give it retro appeal. Inline Retro JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.
