A colorful floral book that I found at a flea market inspired me to make the font Herbarium. What started as floral letter illustrations in 2009 has now developed into a writable font. My main intention was to make each letter like a little artwork so that they all could fit as a drop cap. Herbarium is also a good choice for headlines.

I have always been fascinated by Grigory Rasputin, the rogue ‘monk’ who influenced the Russian Tsar Nicholas and - according to rumours - bedded the Tsarina. Grigory font was handmade with the use of a Chinese marker pen and rough paper. Grigory comes with all the trimmings; some alternate glyphs, a few double letter ligatures, a great amount of diacritics and basic Cyrillic as well.

Nouvelle is an elegant sans serif family of six fonts (light, regular, semibold and italics). This modular typeface works just as well as display typeface as it does in body text. Because of the high x-hight it stays readable in very small sizes. It has 1884 characters: oldstyle numerals, ligatures and extra characters that support almost all European languages.

Albion's Americana is a fun display family and a tribute to our transatlantic friends. The stars and stripes motif is applied to an American inspired all capitals Roman display face, producing something that is bold and boisterous and well...American. The regular face is intended for conventional use, while the 'Black', 'Red', 'White' and 'Blue' faces are designed to facilitate patriotic multi-coloured lettering (of course, you can use other colours as well). It's worth trying out different combinations here- Black and White alone work well, as does read, white and blue minus black. Albion's Americana Companion is also offered, intended as a small or all capitals face for subsidiary lettering. This monospaced version of Galix was commissioned in 2037 by the space exploration company Earth2, as part of a major overhaul of their branding, which had used, since 2021, a generic sans serif (much like every other company). Many specialists in both design and space exploration suggested that this very rebrand started a chain of events that concluded with the invention of time travel in 2041. Contrary to the perceived notion put forward in popular Science Fiction, time travel is only (as of now) possible in the digital realm. It was considered fitting that included among the first files sent back in time should be the Galix Mono typeface, which was remade in OTF format to ensure that it would work with the technology available in 2019. Earth2, for all their insight, did not foresee that the release of the typeface in September of 2019, would lessen the impact of their rebrand. What kind idiots would rebrand a forward looking company with a font that was, by then, almost 18 years old? The subsequent lacklustre response to the redesign didn’t inspire the tidal wave of R&D funding Earth2 had anticipated, and the company went into administration in the summer of 2039, having never invented the time travel which made the release of Galix Mono in 2019 possible. Experts believe that the files sent back in time, although their very sending made it impossible for them to be sent, remained as “time relics” of the future that might have been.

Back in 2017, I was working on a cutout font that I originally wanted to call Scissor Madness. In the end, I named it Cut Along and it was quite a popular font for a while. This week I decided to clean up my fonts folder a bit (as I usually have tons of unfinished fonts lurking in there) and I found a file named Scissor Madness. It was the original try-out for Cut Along. It contained a couple of nice glyphs that I never used, so I started playing around with them and after a day, I had a whole new font! So, in short, Scissor Madness was partly cut out by hand, partly computer made, but it is 100% fun to use! Scissor Madness comes with a bunch of very cute discretionary ligatures.

This family is very special to me. I started working on it right after my first son was born. I decided to name the typeface "Servus" which means "Hello" in my country. The whole idea of the family symbolizes a child’s growth. It starts with Thin and Narrow weights - just like a newborn baby - then it slowly grows to Black and Wide. As You can guess, my son is quite chubby now! And I can assure You that I put all my love into details. Servus consists of 9 weights which gives us 18 fonts with matching italics. Lights and Bolds, due to their strong personality, are perfect for display uses. At the same time, Regulars create a harmonious structure that provides good legibility in long texts. Servus covers all latin languages. It contains a wide set of numerals, small capitals, fractions, ligatures and other OpenType goodies.
