In the late medieval period appeared a "semi-cursive" writing, the French "écriture de civilité". Quickly, it is carved and melted down in lead for printing. It is a very elegant running font, with numerous variants, both final than initial characters, many of the accented small characters were present in the model I was inspired by, after “Fournier Le jeune ”, in his catalogue "Modèles des caractères de l'imprimerie et des autres choses nécessaires au dit art nouvellement gravés par Simon-Pierre Fournier le jeune" published in 1742 in Paris. A render sheet, included in the font file, makes all characters easy to identify on keyboard. In 1990 I designed the font XLeafMeAlone. In 2006 I decided that it was time to improve it. Instead of adding to it, I created two new fonts containing almost 200 leaves: MapleOaks and More Leaves. Among the leaves you will find in MoreLeaves are elm, cottonwood, tulip tree, ash, hickory, locust, ginko, aspen, sassafras, hawthorn, beech, and birch. There are also a few that come from shrubs and I am not sure what they are, but they looked interesting so I put them in. You will not find oaks, maples, or sycamores--they are in MapleOaks. Why leaves? Because people like them. As a large part of the biological world that is all around us, leaves are fascinating in their shapes and endless variations. In XLeafMeAlone I took about 50 shapes and rotated them 180 degrees to give a typeface with approximately 100 glyphs. In each of these two typefaces, MoreLeaves and MapleOaks, there are almost 100 glyphs. Each of those glyphs is rotated in 90-degree increments to yield two families of four typefaces that should be very useful if one wants to create borders of leaves.

Marujo is a highly decorative typeface inspired by painted pieces of Arthur Bispo do Rosário, a striking Brazilian artist who lived for 50 years in a psychiatric institution. The typeface Fry was developed in 2008 specially for the Sky-Fish company (fish and seafood dealer). This type is designed for small texts and has a friendly and a fairytale historic flavor. Fry takes the openness and dynamism of humanistic sans serif, the simple and softness of lubok’s letters (primitive style) and the fluidity of shallow marine fry. Despite its funny style, Fry works well even in the 5 point size. In large sizes Fry demonstrates its originality, vivacity and softness, in the small characteristics become less visible, and Fry’s readability becomes more important. This makes the typeface suitable for many tasks of typography. The typeface includes extended set of Latin, Cyrillic and Greek, old style and lining figures, historical alternates and special local features. The combination of lubok’s aesthetics and funny dynamic forms make a nature of Fry. Fry was exhibited on Svjato Cyrillic (Kharkov, Ukraine) festival in 2008. It was awarded for excellence in type and graphic design at Modern Cyrillic 2009 competition. Also it received the second prize in display category at Granshan 2011. Fry was selected among 50 typefaces for the Call for type exhibition in the Gutenberg museum (2013).

DF-Stromboli doesn’t look like it but in fact it is a script typeface. It was written with a coffee spoon, acting like a broad pen, in the ashes of the Stromboli volcano right on top of a scanner. This typeface evokes orientation and fear, the dichotomy of Stromboli’s personification. A tribute to il faro del mediterraneo: the mediterranean lighthouse.

TpLlum is a typeface designed by TwoPoints for a festival in Barcelona called ‘Montjuïc de Nit’. Llum means light in Catalan. In the Montjuïc de Nit project the font was used in white over a dark grey background, letting the light of a backlit poster shine through. For this purpose the typeface had to be very bright, which was made possible by its heavy cut.
