Thurbrooke is an early 20th century inspired display family, offering two sizes of Roman capitals. Five typefaces are offered in the Thurbrooke family. The Regular face is shaded in horizontally engraved lines and suggests something of vintage advertising captions. A reversed 'Reverso' face, transposing black and white space is offered, as is a 'Black' face with solid letterforms. The remaining two faces are a bit more specialised. “Hi! I’m Hyptis – the script font based on brush handwriting. I was drawn with a soft, wet brush and digitally cleaned with care, but some of my characters keep their natural texture. If you are looking for a font for logos, postcards, product packaging, quotes, text overlays – or anything else – I am a good choice!” Hyptis has two types of embedded auto-replacement: lowercase letters without connecting strokes (for a case of the last character of the word), and ligatures (for a case of two letters that do not pair well together). These features work well in many apps (even simple ones like Notepad/TextEdit), and if you need to customize their application – you could use programs that support OpenType features (for example, Adobe apps or CorelDraw). All these additional glyphs are PUA-encoded, so if your software does not support OpenType — you could access them through Character Map (Windows) or Font Book (Mac). DT PaperType has evolved and morphed over time from quite distant origins. I previously created DT Paperside. It was neither Papyrus nor SSI Countryside, but was inspired in some ways by the Papyrus form, although untextured and smoother, and had the more open dimensions and proportions, similar to that of Countryside SSi, with its larger easily readable lowercase body, and more consistent, shorter stems. DT Paperside had an open scripted feel which was pleasing to the eye and easy to read. DT PaperType has since been crafted from of the original Paperside font. The Organic flow and comfortable form of Paperside has been retained, but it has been shifted very much from the feel of a script font, into a quality, extremely readable, organic and friendly, serif font, retaining its clarity, while adding a great deal of pose and class. This font is primarily suited to body text, and as such is extremely readable. It does however also make an excellent Display font, and comes with a full set of over sized Caps that drop below the line to stand out on a headline when required. Paperside can also automatically enhance the first letter of most sentences, and changes other letters to suit their position within words, and the letters they appear beside. Now comes with an italic that curves and softens various letters. For best results, use this ‘smart font’ with Contextual Ligatures turned on. Mulitiple Stylistic Alternatives are included. Inspiration for this fonts predecessor (Paperside) came from two other fonts. Papyrus: designed by Chris Costello and created in 1982, it is a hand-drawn textured typeface, emulating texts written in biblical times. One of the most used (and misused) fonts of all times. Jesterday is a four weight - light, regular, medium and bold - type family that’s suitable for headlines but works great in informal body-copy as well. ADEQUATE is a basic geometric sans serif typeface comprising 6 weights plus a free italic with each. The family has modern, workaday letterforms with a tall x-height for clarity and legibility. Adequate does the job; it doesn't claim to be beautiful and lacks the fashionable mannerisms of many contemporary faces, but there is something timeless, perhaps elegant, about its mathematical simplicity.

A playful, casual take on round nib pen lettering was spotted amongst some online scans from an old lettering book. The free-form and stylized shapes of the letters and numbers are reminiscent of old-time show cards, movie titles and signage in vogue around the early 1900s through the 1920s. Fancy Show Card JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Agenor Neue is a geometric sans serif with a slight twist. The selective use of rounded edges gives it a unique and distinct character. Agenor Neue family comes in 7 weights and works great for logotype, headers, titles and any other display usage. The Regular weight is available for free and can be used for any commercial or personal project.

Mira is a playful, decorative Art Nouveau font, released by Roos & Jung Foundry in Offenbach AM, Germany about 1902. The exaggerated serifs and the sharp contrast between the thick and thin strokes gives the page a whimsical “salt and pepper” look that is very distinctive. Mira uses our new encoding. The Euro symbol has been moved to position 128 and the Zcaron/zcaron have been added at positions 142/158 respectively. Otherwise, MIRA has our usual idiosyncratic glyph selection, with the German ch/ck instead of braces, Western European accented letters, lower case “o” and “u” with Hungarian umlaut and our usual Hand-in-Hand symbol. The German typeface artist Lucian Bernhard designed Bernhard Antiqua as the first of his many text typefaces. The first weights were produced in 1912 by the foundry Flinsch in Frankfurt am Main. Further weights followed in the 1920s, produced by the Bauersche foundry, which had acquired Flinsch in the meantime. Bernhard font is an alphabet with a marked historical influence. It brings the viewer back to the early 20th century, when the bold forms of this typeface graced advertising displays and posters. Distinguishing characteristics of this typeface are the cross of the capital W and the rounding of the capital R. Linotype's Bernhard condensed bold, with its narrow, robust forms, is best for headlines in medium and larger point sizes.

I fell in love at the age of twelve in Wales, recalls Bernard Philpot. "My father brought me to a small graveyard in the Welsh hills to show me two headstones carved by the great Eric Gill. I instantly fell in love with the beauty of the carving and the perfection of the letterforms. I still go back to marvel at these works of art." However, the ITC Bolthole™ design, Philpot's first commercial typographic endeavor, is quite unlike the works of Eric Gill that first captured his heart. Bolthole is a craggy sans serif with a definite grumpy attitude. It's not terribly legible, and, if more than a few words are set in the design, it's not very readable. To round out its cranky personality, Bolthole does not like to be set in small sizes. Like Cheez Whiz® and bullfights, you either love or hate this typeface. But whichever emotion dominates, there is no denying that Bolthole has a personality to be reckoned with - one with ample magnetism to ensure reader attraction. If used to set brief blocks of display copy, the typeface makes a powerful statement. Bolthole was originally designed to complement a whimsical ad for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. As Philpot recalls, "although the ad didn't win any awards, the type attracted some very positive comments for its original look and feel." Philpot studied graphic design and typography at the London School of Printing, and soon after graduation found himself working in a large advertising agency in London. According to Philpot, "After designing type for everything from packaging to ads, I thought it time to convert one of my designs into a complete font - and Bolthole was born." ITC Bolthole could very well be the Shrek™ of typeface design - which might not be such a bad thing."
