We have created this font inspired from the hatched one used for the inner title and many headlines by the old French popular "cheerful" satirical magazine Fantasio (1906-1948). This family may be used together with 1906 French News, 1906 Titrage, 1906 Fanatasio Auriol and 1890 Notice.

Hylata is a typeface inspired by the Mexican colonial style of the 50s, especially from the state of Puebla. Its design is very characteristic of the local talavera crafts. The typography presents "blacksmith" type styles, which is ideal to represent the characteristic provincial style of Mexico.

Inspired by the art deco movement in France at the turn of the last century and in United States in the 1930s. Boasting over 500 glyphs, with its multiple ligature sets and alternatives, this is a wonderful typeface to use on posters, magazines and on promotional collateral!

Even though the name seems not to tell much, Indecise shows a clean and coherent design. The shapes of the characters reference the Latin typefaces that were promoted by great figures like Enric Crous-Vidal and José Mendoza y Almeida in the 50s. Indecise uses the body of incise typefaces and gets rid of the subtle terminals for the strokes. It is a high-contrast sans divided into 5 elegant subfamilies, which use different widths. From the condensed version to the extended one, the family includes 50 fonts counting upright and italic. This collection of widths make for many possible combinations of styles. Indecise is a humanist typeface, it puts geometry apart and embraces the calligraphic gesture. This helps to suggest the movement of the strokes while avoiding to create text with a static appearance. Thin and thick strokes come together and define a smooth rhythm for reading.

Mountain is a digital revival and extension of Teutonia, an old metal typeface released by the Roos & Junge type foundry (Offenbach am Main, Germany) in 1902. Teutonia’s design was popular during both the Art Nouveau and the Constructivist eras, where similar letterforms could be seen as far away as the Soviet Union. Although it slipped under the radar during the 1930s and 40s, this style feels extremely contemporary today. Mountain’s underlying geometric feeling is reminiscent of pixels and grids, suiting it for application with music and art, as well as history. Yet this typeface is not as static as it seems at first glance; playful diagonals—like those seen on the capitals D, L, P, and W—enliven the otherwise stern horizontal and vertical motion. Teutonia was a simple upper and lowercase display type. Mountain adds upon these by adding small caps and obliqued italic companions, rounding out this typographic toolkit.

Inspired by mosaic lettering by Heins & LaFarge, architects of the IRT (Interborough Rapid Transit) in New York City. Bedford hints at the station names on platform walls which date back to 1904 but modernize it through a rigid grid system and rounded corners. Resolution is a modern monospaced typeface with 4 weights. The typeface is a satire of rendering of early screens and inherited its name through this sentiment. Since screen resolution is getting higher, this font is a memorial to low resolution screens. Resolution is also an excellent programmer’s choice.

I wanted to do somewhat like Blackletter, but Blackletter is hard to read sometimes, so I tried to solve this problem and to do something unique. This font is able to be used with all European languages including ancient and reconstructed languages like Old Church Slavonic (it can be written by Cyrillic or Glagolitic script), Proto Slavic, Ancient Greek etc. It also includes IPA, so it can be used in education.

Here's another mosaic marvel from the New York subway system, to complement Midtown Tessie. This style is based on signage at the 34th Street station, with connections to Brooklyn. A full tile background is available at the bar position, and a marvelous meander can be found at the German double-s spot. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

The title and credits from the 1965 film “Strange Bedfellows” were hand lettered in a style typical of the early-to-mid 1960s – casual and playful. This brought to mind similar type designs used by many radio stations when advertising their disc jockeys as cool, hip and fashionable in the slang term of the day “boss” jocks. Sagasti is a font family that contains two weights: Regular and Bold, with their corresponding Italics style. Phrygia is the Greek name of an ancient state in western-central Anatolia (modern Turkey), extending from the Eskişehir area east to (perhaps) Boğazköy and Alishar Hüyük within the Halys River bend. The Assyrians, a powerful state in northern Mesopotamia to the south, called the state Mushki; what its own people called it is unknown. We know from their inscriptions that the Phrygians spoke an Indo-European language. Judging from historical records supported by ceramic evidence, settlers migrating from the Balkans in Europe first settled here a hundred or more years following the destruction of the Hittite empire (ca. 1200 B.C.). Most of what is known about Phrygian archaeology and its language derives from excavations at the capital city Gordion, located about 60 miles southwest of the modern Turkish capital of Ankara (also a Phrygian site). Gustav and Alfred Körte first excavated Gordion in 1900. The excavators did not reach Phrygian levels, but they did reveal burials dated to the late eighth century B.C. with Phrygian ceramic, metal, and wooden artifacts. From 1950 to 1973, Rodney S. Young of the University of Pennsylvania led excavations at Gordion. Archaeological work at the site resumed in 1988 and continues to the present.

This is a type design based on a retrospective food design posters from 1950 in the United States. The intention was to create handmade letters ideal for handmade projects. The principal reference was the book of Steven Heller Mid-Century Ads. This typeface was the graduation project of my degree as graphic designer.

Set in extrabold sans serif lettering, it’s now available digitally as Tabloid Edition JNL in both regular and oblique versions. Envoy is a serif type inspired primarily by Garalde oldstyle types like those of Claude Garamond. As such, it is particularly well suited for book and magazine text. Characteristic details more typical of Venetian oldstyle faces serve to give Envoy just a bit more personality. The base family includes regular, italic, bold, bold italic and small capitals. Originally designed in 1995 and 1996, for the 1996 Morisawa International Typeface Design Competition, Envoy was later revived, completed and publicly released in 1998. During the initial design, the family was known as Truman in honor of Northeast Missouri State University becoming Truman State University, but the name was changed to Envoy prior to entry in the competition.

Montauk Pro is named after a small village in Suffolk County, New York on the South Shore of Long Island. It is the easternmost area in Long Island, and thus the easternmost area in New York State. It is home to Montauk Point State Park, site of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It is named after the Montauk Indians. Montauk Pro is a casual, jaunty and quite beautiful handwriting script. It comes with six styles as light, light italic, regular, regular italic, bold and bold italic, each style with about 1.000 characters covering the complete Latin glyph set for West and East including Baltic and Turkish, including a large selection of ligatures, character combinations and alternates to make this beautiful script design a perfect font for OTF-savvy applications like e.g. InDesign or Quark Xpress 7.

WL Dot Matrix is another typographic flashback to computing of the mid 1980s, when 9-pin dot-matrix printers were the state of the art. Compatible with the cleaner WL Rasteroids family, WL Dot Matrix explores some of the common failure modes of old printers: smudging ribbons, slipped tractor feeds, and gummed up print heads.
