The basic letterforms for this typeface were found on a 1920s French poster for Les Arts de Feu by an unnamed artist. The stark geometric forms have been dressed up with an outline treatment, a drop-up shadow and a non-traditional small cap arrangement to make it even more striking, in a spooky kind of way. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Luftayah is a modern display typeface, designed by Anna Seslavinskaya in 2018. The typeface was inspired by the sociological concept of the “melting pot”, by a fusion of different cultures, isolated in a geometric form. Two traditions, Kufic script and German fraktur blend into a new symbiotic form. Luftayah adapt it for use in display contexts, as headings and book blurbs, through the use of a range of unusual combined characters and ligatures.

Cadence was designed for a computer consulting company called Shamrock Solutions. The logo needed a Celtic font for the word "shamrock" that complimented the tech font used for the word "solutions." Most Celtic fonts didn't hold up well next to the tech font, which led to the creation of Cadence. Although inspired by Irish designs, Cadence is a sharp departure from traditional Celtic typefaces and in most contexts the inspiration isn't immediately obvious.

Faubourg marks the first professional typeface release by Marie Boulanger. As much traditional as it is unconventional in its celebration of letterforms, this typeface dances on the page and screen as it moves from a more conventional appearance to monoline and back again. The flowing silk-like undulation only accentuates this distinguishing feature and produces one opportunity after the next for headline settings where the word is as important as the content supporting it.

Ivan Bilibin was one of the best artists and designers of the Russian folk art movement of the early 1900s. His posters and his illustrative work are exceptional, and like many of the artists of the period he did a lot of hand lettering in various old-fashioned and modernistic interpretations of traditional Russian folk calligraphy. Our first Bilibin font is based on his lettering from an illustrated folk story by Alexander Pushkin.

Eleonora tends to defy standard categories. Had the typeface been designed in about 1790, it might've been called a "late transitional face" and lumped together with Bell and Bulmer. But it's a modern typeface, showing more restraint in its finer details than even Baskerville. Also noteworthy: it has no traditional, script-like italic but a more severe oblique with baseline serifs and other roman features. Has regular, italic, bold, and bold italic styles.

Trop Magus is a rugged typeface following in the tradition of Ramon Llull and Jean Jannon. Llull’s illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages inspired many later Alchemical texts in the Renaissance. And it was during this era, in 1615, that Jannon cut the matrices for Typi Academiae. Twista is a typeface from the realm of impossible constructions, from letters of illusions, the world of M.C. Escher. It takes its place in the tradition of typefaces playing with 3-dimensional drawings on a 2-dimensional surface. iÍt tricks the eye and attracts our gaze. Carefully choose which messages you set in Twista, they might be read with an invisible question mark added at the end. All letters and characters come in two versions.

Shabaq is a heavy, ultra black Arabic font. It is suitable for 'Display' and large print use cases, especially billboards and advertisement. It also performs well as a title and header font. Shabaq is a geometrical font based on the charactristics of the traditional Naskh typeface with a perfectly fresh and modern appearance. Peapod Regular is all-cap and all about hand-drawn patterns. Each letter has two pattern options easily available in upper/lower places and is designed to be used with Peapod Solid for color changing ease. Peapod is inspired by the publishing tradition of an ornate initial at the beginning of a fairytale, but why resist the fun of putting pattern everywhere... Kinsey is inspired by traditional typewriter font styles. Although now largely consigned to history, the bulbous slab serifs and soft curves of typewriter fonts have left a lasting legacy; they’re paradoxically easy on the eye, yet utilitarian and business-like. Kinsey offers a modern take on this classic style and is available in a full family of five weights and includes a ‘proper’ italic with modified characters for an easy, flowing style.

Hleba Soli Ziamli Voli is named after Belarus poem by Yanka Kupala and inherits some original glyph designs from Renaissance printings by Francisk Skoryna. Hleba Soli Ziamli Voli due to wide variety of weights is great for titles and posters. Cyrillic and Latin support makes the type sutable for multilingual communications.

The Standard version of the Norden font family (see Round and Display) is "a standard sans serif" font. However, the significant detail and difference is that it comes with slightly rounded end corners, which makes the font “easier on the eye”, especially at large sizes compared to traditional fonts with sharp-edge corners. This little but important difference gives the font a commanding yet poised presence, without it imposing itself, as it were.

Firas, designed by Abbas Al-Baghdadi in 2005, is a traditional Kufi and a winner in Linotype’s first Arabic Typeface Design Competition. The design is very geometric and bold with very high level of contrast. This makes it suitable for large display sizes, especially in the area of advertising. The font includes a matching Latin design and support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. It also includes proportional and tabular numerals for the supported languages.

Bayannur is a typeface published by Monoco Type Foundry inspired by Arabic Calligraphy in Chinese Tradition. This font has extensive Latin script support with many ligatures and stylistic sets, as well as Cyrillic and unique Arabic design with contextual alternates and many ligatures. The glyphs in this font also specifically support Uyghur script typing*. The cover on the sheet music for the 1922 song "If She Comes from Dixie" had the title hand-lettered in an Art Nouveau style with a semi-stencil effect. It's now available as Nouveau Semi Stencil JNL in both regular and oblique versions. The typeface is not considered a "pure" stencil because many of the letters were made solid; lacking the classic stencil "breaks" at key points found in more traditional stencil designs.

Phraxtured is a fairly accurate rendition of the letter forms used in an old German-language publication that I found in a trash heap. However, several characters in fraktur, such as the k, y, x, and S, look bizarre to English-language readers, and I have created more comfortable alternatives. The Phraxtured-Deutsch version has the more traditional characters. The ShadowedInside style is designed to be used in layers with the Shadowed style.

Bloomberg Script is a typeface designed from the exploration with the different tools we use to write each day on post its, notebooks, etc. But, applying the traditional handwriting repair method in the construction, spacing the glyphs, and giving it texture of fast strokes, ideal for handletters... is more organic. From the mid -17th century, new commercial writing styles emerged which clear showed the influence of pen-crafted calligraphy. Sibylle is a handmade script font. I used a medium sized Japanese brush pen and coarse paper to create the ‘eroded’ effect. Sibylle comes with double letter ligatures and stylistic alternates for the o (plus all accented o’s).

Kolyada is a modernist semi-serif with a friendly nature. This type is well-suited for use in retail, magazines, logotypes, books, etc. It comes with 4 styles, from Ultra Light to Medium, each with its Upright Italics.
