Aspen is a refreshing and resilient typeface for text of any kind. Functional but not faceless, Aspen derives a very distinctive character from an unusual pedigree. It is loosely influenced by early American and European grotesques, but with more warmth and improved legibility. And where these historical models were rigid and bulky, Aspen’s curves have a gentle sway that makes for very comfortable reading. Relatively generous ascenders and descenders allow the typeface to feel spacious even when set with tight leading. These amiable qualities are matched with a lively italic based on cursive writing. TD Neuth is inspired by Millennial and Gen Z qualities; it is modern, direct, and clear. It has excellent legibility and is ideal for usage in displays, headlines, labels, packaging design, and even long paragraphs on digital collaterals. A bold retro-future font ~ cosmic, weighty & groovy. Each letterform began with a rounded edge box as the base and ovals as a way to create negative space. In instances where the oval was not enough, a series of simple additional arced or straight cuts were made. What resulted is a unique and original font with a lot of personality. Stylistically, the font has a space-age vibe while possessing sleek, futuristic characteristics that ultimately make it feel fresh. It is not meant to be a go-to font for articles with a lot of text, but meant to expand ones library and in the right moment it will bring a lot of energy and major impact. Gobble gobble gobble! The Gobbler font was drawn with a leaky pen on a napkin at the Modern Cafe in Northeast Minneapolis while the designer, Mister Chank Diesel, was waiting for some pot roast. “Apple cobbler drippings on the napkin add more character to the strokes of each letter,” says Chank. This font was originally named Modern Napkin, a free font released in 1997. Chank completed the character set, fixed some curves, and cleaned up some of the apple cobbler to make a more elegant font in 1999. Gobbler works great for either text or display purposes.

In order to get the full functionality of the selection of standard ligatures (custom created letters) in the script font, any software that can read OpenType fonts will work.

Engria is a type family of four weights with corresponding italics that treads the fine line between sans and serif. There are serifs, of a sort, inspired by the brush. Not the marks made by a brush, but the actual splayed shape the bristles make when clamped together. Wedge-like chunks that resemble engraved forms, as the name Engria hints at. But it also has the appearance of a stressed, flared sans. This mixed approach lends a unique voice. Highly legible at text sizes, as indeed it is optimized for, Engria does however shine at display sizes thanks to its characteristic details – flared stems, angular counterforms, rugged ink traps and fluid curves. (I would recommend tracking it a little tighter at larger sizes.) Engria started life way back in 2014, and has been worked and reworked tirelessly to get to this finished product. My intent was to really push the idea of the white shapes being as important, if not more so, than the black. Engria is equipped for typographically demanding applications, boasting as it does an array of OpenType features, including small caps, automatic fractions, stylistic sets, various figure styles, arrows, case sensitive forms and more. It will make a very useful addition to your typographic arsenal, with a flare (ahem) for editorial work, but the individuality for packaging, branding, and logo work.

Oh no, not another typewriter font! But Klaklak is different. Not only has Klaklak four weights from worn out ink (light) to typing twice (bold), an Italic (which is Regular with authentic underlines as there is no Italic on typewriters) and an x-through font called Klaxxx (no need to erase your typos – just x them out (just kidding 😊)). It also does a lot to avoid repeating letterforms by first replacing about 320 common letter combinations by ligatures and then mixing them up with 4 style sets which results in about 1300 ligatures and more than 2600 glyphs in total per font. The result is a very realistic appearance of a mechanical typewriter. All you have to do is turn on Ligatures and Contextual Alternates in your favourite layout app. Of course Klaklak is multilingual, supports a lot of Latin based languages and has all glyphs for even demanding layout tasks.
