JH Naskh Expanded font is designed based on Naskh calligraphy; it is typical for book covers including spine, headlines, short text paragraphs, poetry…..

Since the release of these fonts most typefaces in the Scangraphic Type Collection appear in two versions. One is designed specifically for headline typesetting (SH: Scangraphic Headline Types) and one specifically for text typesetting (SB Scangraphic Bodytypes). The most obvious differentiation can be found in the spacing. That of the Bodytypes is adjusted for readability. That of the Headline Types is decidedly more narrow in order to do justice to the requirements of headline typesetting. The kerning tables, as well, have been individualized for each of these type varieties. In addition to the adjustment of spacing, there are also adjustments in the design. For the Bodytypes, fine spaces were created which prevented the smear effect on acute angles in small typesizes. For a number of Bodytypes, hairlines and serifs were thickened or the whole typeface was adjusted to meet the optical requirements for setting type in small sizes. For the German lower-case diacritical marks, all Headline Types complements contain alternative integrated accents which allow the compact setting of lower-case headlines.

jpAlva is a technical and functional sans-serif that consists of 40 typefaces, divided in 2 font families jpAlva and jpAlva Extended. A universal family of typefaces that fits pretty much any purpose. It illustrates a precise balance of modern geometrics, with a functional yet sparing style that effectively communicates without distraction. A straightforward, unadorned appearance with efficient construction. Simple, clean with a technical note and a wide range of styles it is perfectly suitable for a wide range of applications, from identity systems to editorial design, from signage systems to software applications. NorB Sans Expanded is my first sans serif font, it's a friendly smooth sans serif font with 3 weights: Regular, Medium and Bold each with italic version. It includes over 1000 glyphs + OpenType features (Access All Alternates, Small Capitals From Capitals, Case-Sensitive Forms, Discretionary Ligatures, Denominators, Fractions, Historical Ligatures, Kerning, Standard Ligatures, Localized Forms, Numerators, Ordinals, Small Capitals and Superscript.) This font would be perfect for both texts and titles, and pairs beautifully with other fonts already in your library, especially handwritten and serif fonts. The resultant texture is lively but not intrusive, and makes for a friendly and readable text. You may use it in everything from logotypes to social media posts, website and magazine layouts to poster designs.

The original design came from Berthold Herold typeface, designed by Hermann Hoffmann during 1913 (Art Nouveau style) in Germany. This project started from flyer printed during 1947 with movable type, the specimen was scanned as a source to development some of the uppercase letterforms. However the most unusual and tricky element from this sample is the leg from the uppercase (R) which is different from the original Herold design, until now I didn’t found where this version originally came from. This expanded version only contain the bold weight, however there are also stencil (Nouveau LX Stencil) and condensed version (Nouveau LX) available.

Geogrotesque Expanded Series comes in three widths: Wide, Extended and Expanded, that go between 120% and 200% of the normal width. Since the original Geogrotesque is slightly condensed, the Wide family becomes a good option for texts. Whereas the Extended and Expanded are ideal for display sizes. With the inclusion of the Expanded Series and the preceding Condensed ones, the Geogrotesque super family is now a complete widths system. For more details see the PDF.

P22 Tuscan Expanded is a digitization of the mid-19th Century Woodtype font "Antique Tuscan Expanded - Wells & Webb 1854". Specimens of this font are rarely, if ever, seen with a lower case. It is noted in the book American Wood Type 1828-1900 by Rob Roy Kelly that the lower case is "missing". This version was digitized from a recently discovered full set including all lower case plus ff ligatures. One unique feature of this design is the heart shape formed in the V, X & Y.

In 1894, Linn Boyd Benton finished a commission for a new text typeface with the American periodical, Century magazine. Century is typical of the neorenaissance movement in typography at the end of the 19th century. Morris Fuller Benton drew a number of versions of the font for the font foundry, American Typefounders, and Century was later taken up by the firms Linotype, Intertype and Monotype.

Rasteroids Old is a typographic flashback to computing of the early 1980s, when 7-pin dot-matrix printers were the state of the art, and most home computer displays were TVs hooked up to RF modulators. Rasteroids Old not only captures the dot-matrix printer look, but recreates the rasterized appearance of text on those lower-resolution monitors. Rasteroids Old is a fixed width font lacking any descenders. Furthermore, the character set is limited to the subset of US-ASCII that would be available on a typical machine of 1980. As such, it is not intended for large areas of copy.

Old Style is an example of classic roman type design. It has little contrast in stroke weight, small rounded serifs, open characters, and is very easy to read. It is based on wood type of unknown origin.

The origins of Bookman Old Style lie in the typeface called Oldstyle Antique, designed by A C Phemister circa 1858 for the Miller and Richard foundry in Edinburgh, Scotland. Many American foundries made versions of this type which eventually became known as Bookman. Monotype Bookman Old Style roman is based on earlier Lanston Monotype and ATF models. The italic has been re drawn following the style of the Oldstyle Antique italics of Miller and Richard. Although called “Old Style,” the near vertical stress of the face puts it into the transitional category. The Bookman Old Style font family is a legible and robust text face.

SoftMaker’s Abbott Old Style is a revival of Joseph W. Phinney’s typeface of the same name, a modified serif typeface. It is charmingly antique and exotic.
