Brak is the dutch word for ‘brackish’, the mix of fresh and salten sea water found in river deltas and estuaries. Brak is also VetteLetters’ straightforward display font with straight lines and rounded ends, and comes in two weights. It does really well in sea food dishes like fish, lobster, mussels and shrimps. Brak doesn't beat around the bush, it is an all-caps typeface with alternative capital letterforms assigned to the lowercase positions, for a variety of combinations.

Reminiscent of the hand-lettering found in mid-century children’s books, Akemi Aoki’s MVB Grenadine is a quirky sans, broken free of its geometric roots. The squarish glyphs, with a mix of rounded and angular corners, have a post-modern feel suggesting technological advance, innovation and vitality. This script font is inspired by the flexible nib strokes to create a concatenation of refinement with character mixing the contrast with pronounced but rounded angles. This angles along with the inktraps give the font a better performance when printing. Texts will have a very even rhythm due to its consistency on the stroke’s angle and spacing. The words can receive a dramatic touch by using the wide range of glyphs with curly and refined ornamentation. There are lots of caps and number variants dressed up with a variety of swashes. Also, two sets of versatile ornaments will be found: a first set of ending flourishes that match with any lowercase letter and a second set of independent flourishes to be placed around the words. Quarzo will give a great sophistication level to invitations, cards, tags, menus, advertising and packaging. Its character map covers Western and Central European characters.

Found within the pages of the 1934 edition of the American Type Foundry’s “Book of American Type” is a sans serif design with rounded terminals that emulates a typewriter face. “Jumbo Typewriter” is reminiscent of the type of lettering formerly found on teletype news copy. “Teletype” was a division of Western Electric (part of AT&T), and the machines utilized telephone lines to electronically type and send (as well as receive) messages worldwide. Many folks will remember the sound of teletype machines in the background when radio stations had their news breaks. Now available digitally as News Copy JNL, it is available in both regular and oblique versions.
