Styled after the monogram of the USS Greenling 213 emblem (a submarine that my grandpa proudly served on), I created this typeface in honor of his long and wonderful life. With both Regular and Rough styles, this typeface comes complete with multi-language support, special characters and symbols.

I used to be an exchange student in Canada. I noticed my handwriting was quite different from the handwriting of people who are from countries where the roman alphabet is used. Coffinated features letters on coffin shapes. This caps-only family has two sets of characters, with one on coffins that are flipped from those in the other set. The OpenType feature contextual alternatives (calt) prevents two characters from the same set being adjacent. The two styles, bold and regular, can be used in layers to add color. There are not a lot of uses for macabre lettering (horror? Halloween?) but Coffinated is available for those who do find a use.

Gopher Mono is a reverse contrast, monospace sans serif typeface ranging in weight from thin to black with italics. The design provides a unique look to the monospaced genre by using a contrast where the vertical strokes are a little thinner with horizontal strokes thicker. While monospaced fonts are typically used for smaller body text, the slightly unusual quirks of a reverse contrast design make it interesting enough to also use for display treatments so style and function are blended.

I have never stayed at a boarding house myself, but I’ve heard some horror stories. When I have finished painting the three fonts (using Chinese ink and a small brush), I didn’t have to think long for a name.
