Diamond Jim JNL was inspired [in part] by an image of a 1970s Letraset® dry transfer typeface made entirely of small stars. By creating his own layout using tiny diamond shapes, Jeff Levine has produced a font that takes on multiple appearances. At 24 point it resembles dot matrix printing; at 48 point the diamonds are clearly visible; and overall, the design has a distinctive 70s retro feel. Limited character set.

Decima – condensed geometric Sans Serif typeface, released back in 2009 and quite successful ever since (MyFonts Rising Star, February 2009). Decima Pro – an upgraded version of Decima, with careful refinements to glyph shapes and extension of glyph amounts, which enabled support of more Latin languages as well as support of Cyrillic. Six more alternate styles have been added to the original six styles. Typeface is released in OpenType format with some OpenType features.

Shoebox font is crafty and sweet. It’s hand-drawn with double letter ligatures for upper and lower case. It works great in all-caps, and the lower case is a funky mix up with some interlocking ligatures too. Shoebox is rough with an occasional curl, and is paired with Shoebox Shapes; a unique picture font of Amy Dietrich illustrations (featuring boxes, bags, cats, stars, familiar household items, and for some reason, a forgetful octopus).

A bold, classic wood type newspaper headline was the inspiration for Early Edition JNL. The source of the type design was actually a dummy newspaper with the headline “Thursby and Archer Murders Linked” [which was used in the 1941 film noir classic “The Maltese Falcon” featuring an all-star cast headed by Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet]. Early Edition JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The unusual name for this Deco style typeface comes from the playful and pun-laden 1960s Rocky & Bullwinkle TV show. It is the name of the newspaper in the mythical town of Frostbite Falls, MN, home of the two cartoon stars. The name, Picayune Intelligence, literally means “pretty dumb”, but we don’t think that describes Nick’s competent design at all. It is comforting to know that someone is still watching quality television.

FourJuly contains three patriotic fonts that might be fun to use in July. They are also very hard to read, but perhaps not as hard as the somewhat similar letters in the fonts of FlagDay. FourJuly A has square, blocky letters with star interiors. FourJuly G and FourJuly H add diagonal stripes. FourJuly G and FourJuly H can be layered on top of FourJuly A to create bicolored letters. At first glance, Transcendental JNL looks like a 1960s or 1970s-era "Hippie" type face, hence its "love generation" name. However, the actual inspiration comes from a piece of sheet music from the early 1900s with Art Nouveau influences. It is often proven that what goes around certainly does come around in art, fashion and lettering. Transcendental JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The idea for this font family, derived from SMS text message faces (Emojis) and found photographs of faces collected over the last ten years. The concept for this project was to a create text-face characters using only the glyphes found in a standard version of a Sans Serif typeface. There are 36 different Textfaces. Slovakian type designer Peter Bil'ak created this serif FontFont in 1998. The family has 5 weights, ranging from Regular to Bold (including italics) and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, book text, editorial and publishing as well as wayfinding and signage. FF Eureka provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures, small capitals, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions, and super- and subscript characters. It comes with a complete range of figure set options – oldstyle and lining figures, each in tabular and proportional widths. FF Eureka received several awards: the National Slovak Design Centre award in 1997 and the The Best Design in the Category of Type 19th International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno award in 2000. The Samba family was inspired by the lettering art of J. Carlos, a Brazilian illustrator during the early 20th century. Turned into a workable series of fonts by the contemporary Brazilian designers Tony and Caio de Marco, Samba is especially recommended for use in logos, flyers, posters, and tattoos! This family offers the user a chance to mix three different styles of lettering into one coherent design, which can be very useful in solving certain design problems. While the regular Samba face is made up of mono-line letters, the style of Samba bold offers much more of a thick to thin contrast. The Samba Expert set displays lavish swash endings, which were inspired by Brazilian metal work. The Samba family was one of the winners selected during the 2003 International Type Design Contest, sponsored by Linotype GmbH.

Rifton is a heavy display typeface designed for use in large sizes. It is available as a regular and italic font or as one Variable Font with an italic axis. Installing the Variable Font offers users additional benefits because, in addition to the pre-defined “upright” and “italic” instances, the interpolations between them can be used. That allows you to have slanted text – but just a little less slanted than in the italic. Rifton is an all-caps design, but the letters mapped to the lowercase keyboard do not always have the same forms as the uppercase. That is most visible when it comes to the “s”, which takes a Star-Wars-style form (think of the Star Wars logo).
