A famous 1971 photo shows boxing champ Muhammad Ali making faces through a window at Joe Frazier at the challenger’s training facility. Doublethink was developed from lettering drawn in the 1960s by Vinko Ožić-Pajić and used on the shop fronts of Yugoslavian state-owned clothes company Standard Konfekcija. The original design has been reinterpreted and expanded and is offered as a two weight typeface—Doublethink Medium and Doublethink Bold Inline. Standard Konfekcija was established first as a military fabric company and later became the premier fashion brand outlet in the Communist state of Yugoslavia. It is famous for being the first shop in the country to offer plastic bags (Standard Konfekcija stores ceased trading after the fall of Communism).

The type design for Impecunious JNL comes from the 1939 sheet music for "You Don't Know How Much You Can Suffer (Until You Fall in Love)". The name comes from another piece of sheet music, 1899's "Impecunious Davis" [a piece of late 19th century tripe demeaning Black Americans]. However, the word "impecunious" was intriguing. According to the website Merriam-Webster.com, the simple definition of impecunious means "having little or no money". Since we've all been in that spot at one time or another, it became a perfect font name. Impecunious JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

While helping produce a trade magazine years ago, I admired the hand-lettering of the art director -- a woman named Marydale -- and suggested she let me model a font after her penmanship. She agreed and drew out the alphabet, and I launched an old copy of Fontographer and (to shorten a long story) ended up developing my very first digital typeface. Which has since, astonishingly, become famous worldwide. So now the real Marydale gets the mixed blessing of seeing her handwriting (and name) plastered all over the planet. Full release has regular, bold, and black weights.

Peter Schoeffer was a printer who was apprenticed to Gutenburg and after leaving Gutenburg in 1455 he set up shop with Facob Fust. His son, Peter the Younger, moved to Mainz and carried on the trade. This particular font is based on a typeface of Peter the Younger that was cut circa 1509-1520. This font has over 900 characters. While there are only about 80 in the historical exemplar the rest have been developed for modern usage. This font is based on Typ.7:146/148G also known as Gesellschaft für Typenkunde plate no. 258.

The type retains some quality of copperplate scripts, but the differentiation between thicks and hairlines is not very sharp. There are a few cursive forms, but most of the letters are romanized: they are almost upright and not joining. Occasional flourishes are casually interpreted from various sources such as the lettering on trade-cards and writing masters' copybooks. “I think it is a new kind of 'copperplate script' which is not too formal and easier to read,” claims designer Akira Kobayshi. Irregularities are apparent in the angle of caps and numerals, but the face's quirkiness gives a type page some friendliness rather than cold brilliancy. ITC Vineyard is designed in two weights: regular and bold. Each variation includes several extra characters such as an alternative lowercase 'd' with a long arm, a T-h ligature, swelled rules, and a pair of flourishes. Swash caps are available for both weights. The swash caps variation also includes oldstyle figures. Kobayashi notes: “There are a few swash-cap lowercase combinations that collide or look awkward.
