Font naming is not all that difficult. Take Printout for example. I was busy working on this font, when my niece came over with a poem she needed to have printed. One of her classmates had the same request (they’re writing poems for our national Remembrance Day). As I was printing out these poems, I thought the name Printout would be perfect for the font I was working on. See? It’s not rocket science! Printout is a totally awesome, completely handmade font. I used an almost dried out Japanese brush pen to get the eroded effect. Maybe I should name my next font ‘Dried Out Brush Pen’? I’ll let you know.

"Soup Du Jour" is French and simply means "Soup Of the Day" - may not sound interesting, but I can tell you that I have had several tasty soup of the day served. I wanted to make a font that resembles that feeling of not really knowing what you get served, but you got a feeling that it is something good! The font has got 6 different versions of each letter, and they automatically changes as you type - it makes your text organic and lively, and probably quite tasty too! :) "Soup Du Jour" is also a well-known quote from one of my favourite movies: "Dumb and dumber"

Hodgepodge is a confused mixture of letters that somehow work together. While I know this has been done before I create fonts that I need. And I occasionally have found a need for this. And it was not there, so now it is. There is a mixture of light and dark, bold and regular, caps and lower case but not where you would expect them to be. Since this is a headline font you can set the headline and then easily go back and change a letter here or there to get the best-looking combination. Hodgepodge was in the 2011 Typodarium Page-A-Day Calendar on 7-17-2011.

Part of the charm of his letters is that through them you may know the whole of Venetian society from the top to the bottom. The little-known church of San Luca in Venice (in St Mark's district) has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries for people who are decidedly not devout: journalists, writers, free thinkers. In 1556 Pietro Aretino, a unique character of the Italian and Venetian Renaissance period was buried there. Such strong of personality, has contributed to generate the powerful wind of change that emerged from the italian renaissance. Catskin is a fairytale by The Brothers Grimm. The story is about a king who has a beautiful wife and daughter - you know, the basic fairytale stuff. Long story short: they all live happily ever after (except for the wife, who dies…). Catskin is also a nice, handmade font. I like making fairytale fonts, especially since I have three kids, who love books. And when I see one of my fonts on the cover, I can tell them: ‘daddy made this’. #prouddaddy ;-)

This font is a collection of sketched spruce trees. Some are filled outlines, some are bare trunks and branches, and some are rough squiggles. Maison Luxe is a revival of a very old font designed in France in or around the year 1820. You may have seen this font in the past under the names of Circus, Roma, Madame and Gillé Classic. As of November 2016 we have changed the name of this font from Gillé Classic to Maison Luxe which means Luxury House in French. Stovepipe Stencil JNL was not directly designed from a vintage source, but it does draw its influences from classic sans serif lettering of the past. Even its name borrows (somewhat gratuitously) from the "stovepipe" lettering so popular with sign painters. True stovepipe letters tend to be squarer with rounded corners, but the name has also been loosely associated with some tall, condensed type styles. The typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Fishwrapper is a three-member font family (Regular, Bold, and Italic) designed to replicate the look of authentic vintage newspaper typography. The fonts are rough and are meant to be used at newspaper sizes. All three fonts have a complete alternate alphabet built in: using the contextual alternates feature will automatically substitute alternate versions of most glyphs, so that identical characters do not appear side by side, thus helping to create the look of metal type. I’d been thinking for a while about making a serif font with ball terminals: big fun round ends to the letters anywhere I can squeeze them in. So I made Breakfast Pastry! I started with a hand-drawn set of basic letters, then went hog-wild making alternates and ligatures galore with fun swirls, curls, and even more balls! I’ve cleaned the letters up significantly to make them smooth and easy for any cutting or printing you may want to do, but I’ve also left in some of the hand-drawn character so that the letters are warmer and not too formal. Then I took the first font, and made a second solid version without the cutouts. After that I thought: I tend to make plumper fonts ... why not make an even thinner version? So I did! All three versions have the same character set (over 700 glyphs total), which means they all have the same extras and alternates. All three fonts have over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, as well as over 200 bonus items: alternate letters, letters with swashes, two-letter ligatures, small caps, catchwords, and even some bonus ornaments and elements to make the fonts even more flexible. (After all, if one swash on a letter is good, two or three might be great!)
