Pittsburgh is the latest (as at August 2011) in a range of inter-war American inspired commercial faces, and takes its place alongside the popular Bettendorff and the Spargo family. These shaded stab-serif capitals speak of the heyday of heavy manufacture and engineering and bring a gritty feel of the 20s and 30s to any project. The initials ASM represent the acronym of the Santa Monica Arts cultural center located in Barcelona, Spain, where this typeface, with the same name, has served as the custom corporate typeface since 2008 till today (2013). ASM is an energetic monospaced with extreme legibility consisting of two original weights, with an underlined version – used on some of corporate applications – all with their corresponding italics.

Movie Script is the script that was used in German movie-brochures. Those were small four page leaflets with a lot of sepia-colored pictures about the movie one was about to see. Today those things are collectors items. The script was also used on those hand-painted posters above the cinema entrance. I cleaned up the old script and made it just a little bit more readable, but overall I left it as it was. Of course I added the necessary glyphs for today's world, like Euro and so on. When I was a kid, my grandfather gave me 1 German Mark and I could go to the movies matinee, that was around 10:30 in the morning, the entrance cost something like 60 Pfennig and the rest was for peanuts and a drink. The PM Doorbuster Collection is based on retro hand-painted paper signs primarily seen in grocery stores from the 1940s through today. We meticulously hand-drew each font, modeling the spacing and uneven baseline found in vintage sign painting. It's time to kick off your shoes and feel the "sans" between your toes. And so now, Sans is where it's at. Strip away the serifs of Cabrito, and you have a laid back, rounded sans serif alternative served up over easy. Amarissima is a display font inspired in vintage Italian signs of baker shops. Regardless its crafty inspiration, the construction remains highly mechanical and structured. School Hand is a font designed for use with young children. There is the Dotted version, which is designed to be traced over with a larger dot to show where to start and automatic lines. Then there is the Regular version which can be used for reading or can be printed light grey for tracing. School Hand Cursive is a cursive font which is designed using contextual alternates. A sign at the 81st Street (Museum of Natural History) New York subway stop provided the pattern for this mosaic tile face. The font features a full-tile background at the bar position (shift-backslash) and left-and-right pointing fists at the brace positions as well as complete Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Csemege is a fully cursive even script inspired by Hungary's 60' 70's shop signages of mostly food and grocery stores and restaurants, and their neon light scripts. Csemege means Delicatessen in Hungarian. I have developed this set of characters with Contextual alternates and a few Stylistic alternates to make the letter connections smooth and perfect. It has a friendly look yet decorative and elegant script. Kazootie was inspired by cut-paper shapes and named after the hand puppet character Rootie Kazootie in a 1950s children's television show. Kazootie is a light-hearted and fun display font with a big, strong voice and crisp confident stride. Best for headlines and larger text in picture books, Kazootie is all caps, but you can type your letters in uppercase or lowercase to access two different variants of the style.

Angel Script is a light, contemporary monoline script. There are approximately 695 individual glyphs complete with Stylistic and Contextual Alternates, Titling Alternates, Swashes and even Old Style Numerals. Needless to say, there’s a lot ‘under the hood’, and the typographic flexibility I wanted with earlier concepts shows in grand style with this release. The single weight font includes a complete Central European and Western diacritic set as well.

Annexia is a serif font with a several styles from Light to Bold. Serifs and stretched letters connect two times the past and the future, creating a perfect present. History is always in sight; it is constantly being reconsidered and reformulated in the context of now. We see approaches to art, fashion, textiles, homewares, furnishings … not to mention music, graphics and everything else that culturally enriches our daily lives, revisited and made anew for today.    Address Sans indulges in the spirit and aesthetics of mid-century Modern – Italian industrial design, sleek coffee makers, stylish cars, seductive jazz pressed on vinyl – with a charm and charisma that defies time. It evokes history but is decisively created for today.    Its design, in reality, is rooted in the condensed structure and block modulation of early 1950s German lettering intended for use in street signage, but when we started to work on the various weights and widths, the result was a set of fonts in a style similar to the typographic work developed by Butti and Novarese in the 60s. The multitude of potential applications for Address Sans then became clear.    In a range of 3 widths and 8 weights each, Address Sans includes little verses, true italics, small caps and numerous alternative signs for a total of 48 fonts. The result is a functional typeface that is effortlessly seductive, with geometric features and design details that ooze cool, and take it away from mere reinterpretation towards typographic forms that adapt perfectly for contemporary use.

Bodoni Classic Swing is another of my decorative additions to Bodoni’s family of typefaces. Bodoni did not design decorative versions. His quest was for purity in book design. He was purely as a printer who had to cut his own fonts because there simply weren't any foundries in those days. I think if Giambattista were alive today he would design many decorative typefaces.
