Lythmore This font is called Lythmore and is inspired by Lithos. Lithos was originally designed for Adobe by Carol Twombly in 1990, based it on the lettering from ancient Greek inscriptions. The Capitals are similar in feel and design, but is totally original and built from scratch. It is designed to be similar intentionally, but it is not a clone or rip off. Lithos is an example of a simple blocky san serif font style, with subtly concave sides, angled ends, and off centred curves. Lythmore is also an example of that same style. But is also different in places where I felt it could be improved. And it has a complete lower case set, which Lithos doesn't. I built Lythmore with 8 different weights. Lythmore can be very effective when used in advertising and general display work, but it can also be used for much more. Although it was never designed to be body copy, when used as such, it is still perfectly readable and adds its own version of sans serif style and flavour. I have included two versions of the Lythmore family. Lythmore A and Lythmore B. In the Lythmore A family, the lighter 4 weights all vary in weight in both the horizontal and vertical axis. The heavier 4 weights all vary in the horizontal axis only. In the Lythmore B family, the transition is even in both directions across the entire family. The result of this difference is that the A and B versions difference is most noticeable between the Regular and Medium weights. While the extreme ends of each family version are virtually identical.

The former hot-metal font Sebaldus Gotisch, a 19th century Berthold in-house design, was carefully redesigned and updated for today’s use. This font contains a long s which you can access by typing alt b or by using the historical alternate OTF feature.

It's nice when a font provides old style figures, small caps and alternate letters. But what to do if my typesetting program doesn't support Open Type features? The solution may be old-fashioned, but it's effective: the variants are placed in separate font families: Standard, Old Style Figures (OSF), and Small Caps (SC). Any word processor can handle it. As a special feature, my OSF fonts also contain alternative letters such as a looped g or descenders in the italic f.

This narrow neoclassical revival is based upon a font released by the Haenel Foundry, Berlin, in the 19th century. By typing [alt] + p respectively [alt] + b you have access to a framing element as it can be seen on the posters. By using the OT feature stylistic alternative you can change the normal numbersign into an oldstyle numero sign.

Glyph Concept The Braille 2x3 dot matrix is weaved around a diamond-shape. a.1. Each "dot" is represented by a "right-angle isocel triangle". a.2. Braille dots in Diamond Braille a.2.I. "Dots" are outside the diamond for first Braille row (Braille dots 1, 4) and third Braille row (Braille dots 3, 6). a.2.II. "Dots" are inside the diamond for second Braillle row (Braille dots 2, 5). a.3. Diamond lattice Glyphs are connected horizontally (to/bottom diamond's corners) and vertically (left/right corners) to each other (see poster 5). a.4. Special Glyphs - Space: its is either empty ("Empty cell") or a "non Braille shape" { _, ° } depending on your display needs (as explained in b.3.II) - 6 dots: { £, =, û } - 6 empty dots: { ç, ¥ } B. Rail Route Stencil JNL is based on a hand-cut paper stencil depicting a logo for the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. The lettering is from the motto encircling an image of the Capitol dome: "Linking 13 Great States with the Nation". This motto was not present on some other versions of the B&O logo.

Night Life JNL follows the classic lettering forms of the Art Deco era of the 1930s and 1940s. On the upper case letters, the A,B,E,F,H,K,P and R have extended horizontals, while the lower case a,b,e,f,h,k,p and r have those extensions removed and are more traditional in design.

Introduced as the Chank Font of the Month for May 1998, Instructor was drawn Roger Lootine and fontified by Chank. Roger was an instructor at Art Instruction School.
