The Charles Bluemlein Script Collection is an intriguing reminder of the heady days of hand lettering and calligraphy in the United States. From the early 1930s through World War II, there were about 200 professional hand letterers working in New York City alone. This occupation saw its demise with the advent of photo lettering, and after digital typography, became virtually extinct. The odd way in which the Bluemlein scripts were assembled and created - by collecting different signatures and then building complete alphabets from them - is a fascinating calligraphic adventure. Because the set of constructed designs looked nothing like the original signatures, fictitious names were assigned to the new script typefaces. Roma Initial Caps JNL is a set of alphabet caps drawn from elegant lettering found in an old sign painter's manual. The upper case keys have the letters in white on black backgrounds, while the lower case has the letters in black on a white background with a black border.

A font with a strong architectural feel, inspired by those great commercial emporiums of a bygone era. To cap the crossbars, use [brackets] to enclose uppercase letters, {braces} to enclose lowercase letters, and the upright bar | between upper- and lowercase letters. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Amelia Jayne is Ted Staunton's updated revision and expansion of his own Amelia decorative cap font. Amelia Jayne started as a Roman font to accompany the Amelia initials but has taken on a new life as a Pro Roman font with small caps and several variations of new matching initial companion fonts. (The initials are not included in the pro font but come bundled with the set.)
