I recently bought a small, portable speaker. I can now listen to music when I am making fonts! Output Volume is a name I came up with after reading the quick start guide that came with the speaker. Output Volume is a 100% handmade display font - it was based on a protest sign, but after a few glyphs it started to morph into something unique. I created 2 sets of contextual alternates (including the most used accented glyphs), that will cycle as you type. I also added some discretionary ligatures, to get an even more random effect. Output Volume comes with a vast array of accented letters, including Vietnamese.

Koruption is a neo-grotesque typeface family that allows the user to control the amount of distortion in the letters. Thanks to variable axises, this typeface can range from a clean form to a glitched, deformed letter style. To further the effect, these fonts employ further opentype features to alternate the letters, mimicking the real randomness that can arise from distorted letters. Designed by Malaysian designer, Ong ChongWah, Abadi is a versatile sans serif typeface whose style lies between the humanist Gill Sans and the more rigid lineales such as Monotype Grotesque and Helvetica. These humanist characteristics give the Abadi fonts a friendliness in use and contribute as much to its legibility as the generous 'x' height. The italic font relates to the roman, yet has sufficient character to be effectively used independently. The range of weights and widths available give Abadi a wide spectrum of graphic applications, from small quantities of text in magazines and newspapers, to display use in packaging, advertising and even television.

Released in 1993, Ocean Sans is a sans serif design created for Monotype by the talented Malaysian designer, Ong Chong Wah. The Ocean Sans font family has a distinct contrast between thick and thin strokes which sets it apart from the rather austere Grotesques with their more monotone appearance. Ocean Sans italic is an unusual design for a sans face, a strong cursive influence gives it a flowing rhythm not generally associated with sans serif italics. Ideal for text and display setting, the freshness of the Ocean Sans font family will give the user further scope in the design of catalogues, brochures, advertisements and flyers.

Raclette grills are an ingenious Swiss invention. This tabletop grill is used to cook raclette cheese, a unique sort of cheese produced by the happy cows of Valais. Swiss designer Michael Parson created a typeface in 2002 that speaks endearingly to his hearty homeland tradition - endearingly enough, he named it Raclette. Raclette most likely started out as a bold, condensed sans serif. But then, just as one pulls little trays off of a raclette grill, Parsons quickly removed many rectilinear bits from the edges of each letter. Text set in Raclette looks like an old brick wall, or perhaps like a raclette party for several hundred people, that ended an hour ago! Raclette is one of ten of Michael Parson's experiments in type design featured in the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

Wild Pen is a handwritten typeface created through an experimental pen that’s made from recycled plastic bottle. Its spontaneous strokes are very free and allow presence of drops and blots of ink. The complete family consists of five different fonts, which have the same feeling, and allow mixing them to obtain a lifelike, handwritten text. OpenType users may choose Wild Pen OT, which includes not just the five basic sets but also contains many additional alternative characters and some discretionary ligatures. Grit Sans is a font balanced enough to stand strong on the tippy-toes of its pointed "t" ascenders. Even all caps communicates calm. Dashes of whimsy in the proportionately plump X-Heights tell of the accountant drinking too much sherry at the office Christmas party, but thick, consistent strokes never lets you forget his job title. Ascenders and descenders consistently reach the same heights and depths, further attesting to the reliability of this typeface, at even very small sizes. Available in both regular and bold face, Grit Sans is a faithful complement to thin fonts with a pinch of frivolity such as Heirloom Artcraft. Sond is a casual, modern and hand brushed font. I've designed Sond carefully with the intention to preserve in its glyphs the original tell-tale dry brush imperfections and a bouncy baseline for a more personalized effect even more authentic. As an exclusively Open Type release, with 519 glyphs and ornaments, it has special alternatives for all letters with lots of possibility an infinity of combinations. There are plenty of options to allow you to create something unique and special: standard ligatures, swashes and stylistics alternates for each letter, beginning and ending letters. Miss AmyLynn is the Southern scrawl of Former Miss Kentucky, Amy Lynn Brown. Like Chank's other popular handwriting fonts Wordy Diva and Skippy Sharp, Miss AmyLynn reflects a casual, intelligent, and creative personality. This font has a concise supply of alternate lowercase characters so you can create a more organic handwriting display in your designs. Amy is co-owner of Chowgirls, an up-and-coming catering company that she started with Chank's business manager. Base & Bloom is an experimental (but relatively organic) fusion of geometric monoline sans and high-contrast flourish didone. It was inspired by the lack of curious modern display sans as opposed to the uprise of contemporary serifs past couple of years. The idea was to incorporate flourishes not as unnecessary elements like swashes, but as a part of letter structure, which was an especially interesting task considering it was not a serif, which potentially could give more room for that. And after all, the idea pays off by generating many inventive letterform solutions. Base & Bloom has alternates for each letter (up to 11) so you can make endless combinations to find the perfect look. Beginning in January, 1932, Becker, at the request of then-editor E. Thomas Kelly, supplied SIGNS of the Times magazine’s new Art and Design section with an alphabet a month, a project predicted to last only two years. Misjudging the popularity of the “series”, it instead ran for 27 years, ending finally two months before Becker’s death in 1959, for a grand total of 320 alphabets, a nearly perfect, uninterrupted run. In late 1941, almost ten years after the first alphabet was published, 100 of those alphabets were compiled and published in bookform under the title, “100 Alphabets”, by Alf R. Becker. And so, as published in August, 1937, The Fontry presents the truly "modern" version of Becker’s 187th alphabet, Moderne Caps, complete with OpenType features and Central European language support.

P22 Kelly is a Celtic-styled uncial font with a medieval gothic flavor and an overall contemporary feel. The font is an addition to Ted Staunton’s collection of historical and period-based fonts. It is ideal for uses that need to evoke the Celtic spirit or the medieval period. Based on half-uncial Irish monastic handwriting of the 8th to 10th centuries, but instead of having a traditional upright stress, has an italic slant. Some Gothic influence is evident—like the thorn-like tick-marks decorating the capitals—but the rounded forms of h, m, n, u emphasize a wide, open, horizontal visual texture. The font is named in honor of the Book of Kells, the 8th-century masterpiece of Celtic calligraphic art, which is kept in Trinity College, Dublin.

According to Hellmut G. Bomm "Nautilus was based on a handwritten type used for the text Li. Das Helle, Klare from the I Ging. "The intention was to create a clear, highly legible typeface. While the even strokes of sans serif types eventually tire the eyes in long texts, the marked stroke contrast of Nautilus lends the type its legibility. The characters were drawn with a broad tipped pen, and like an antiqua type, the forms of Nautilus display a variety of elements. The narrow figures with relatively large spaces between them create an overall open appearance and allow a large quantity of text to fit into a small space. "The headstrong forms of Nautilus make this an excellent display type. The italic weights are independent typefaces with hints of a handwritten character."

With 662 glyphs, Anemos font is the perfect mix of elegant and casual. Cacao is another one of my "found fonts". I found this one in an old advertising for a French cocoa drink. Since I am a vervent lover of cocoa, I will give you my recipe for a normal coffee mug full of delicious hot cocoa. Mix three heaped teaspoons of sugar with one and a half to two teaspoons of finest cocoa powder. Then add a little cold milk, stir, add a little cold milk, stir, and so on until you have a mushy creamy consistency. Now slowly add - always stirring - boiling hot water til the cup is almost full. This slick, marker style font was created by our fontmeister, Mr Fontastic, based on the slick, marker style of... Well, Mr Fontastic himself! No, sorry, that is a lie, but he did tell us he liked the design work Mr Fontastic created for the JAY & SILENT BOB trades, No, seriously, he did. We wouldn't lie to you. Well, except for that last time. By the way, this font also doubles as a dynamite sound effect font, that's why we're charging you twice as much as usual. No, sorry, lying again. About the price, not the sound effect thing.

Bougainville was inspired by many of my favorites and has been on the drawing board in excess of ten years. Only this year I decided to expand the original 1994 design to include other weight variants. The quirky Binner Gothic-inspired high axis and its funky g, rounded e, angled stroke endings together with the influence of contemporary designs such as Officina Sans, Din Mittelschrift and MetaPlus, Bougainville exhibits a similar flavor and compactness to Bodega Sans. This typeface family has been named in honor of the renowned eighteen-century French mathematician and explorer Louis-Antoine de Bougainville to whom we owe the naming of South Sea Islands and colorful tropical flora he discovered along his journey. Bougainville makes for effective headings at any size and is equally readable at semi-display sizes.

It's the Summer of Love all over again with this groovy psychedelic font. Designed in 2019, this typeface harks back to the carefree days of the late 1960s. Whimsical and offbeat with its swaying verticals, it nonetheless remains one of the more legible reimaginings of the genre, sporting all of the handlettered vibe of posters and album covers from the original hippie era, but with polished color and weight that evens out the legibility even at relatively small point sizes. Predominantly a unicase font, with a couple of alternate glyphs from upper to lowercase, Summer of Love works best as a large headline face, and benefits greatly from twisting and morphing the type blocks as was common during the original psych era. It's a real groove machine, baby.

The superfamily Pepi and Rudi is based on playful experimentation with basic geometric shapes - the circle, rectangle and triangle - elements that laid the foundations for typographic Modernism. The Pepi and Rudi introduces a number of current elements into a time-proven concept of primitively constructed typefaces. The typeface's somewhat uniform character width establishes a more regular rhythm; the character set is expanded, and legibility is improved thanks to taller lowercase. A wide range of ten styles, from hairline-thin to extra-thick with adequate Italics allow for universal use across the whole scope of graphic design. Carefully designed diacritics, clear punctuation marks, table number characters, ligatures, arrows or alternative lowercase characters are standard; this is sure to please everyone needing to work effectively with a neutral, geometric headline typeface.

Arnold Therhoernen. (Arnoldus ther Hornen, Drucker des Dictys , Arnold ter Hoernen, Arnold ther Hoernen, Arnoldus TherHornen.) Who was this guy? He was a printer active in the city of Cologne, having graduating from the university there. He learned his craft under Ulrich Zell. He printed books from 1470 to 1482 when the plague carried him off. Was he just another printer of the era? No, he brought out the first edition of the "Fasciculus temporum'' (The most popular work by a living author at that time.) And he was the first to use both a title page and page numbers. His page numbers, an idea probably suggested to him by Werner Rolevinck, were interesting in that they were centered half way down the page on the outer margin and were set in Roman Numerals.

The hand-brushed Fave™ Set has ten informal scripts and other handwritten fonts made up of two subfamilies: Fave and the even-more informal Fave Casual, each have a primary script with a bold version and three other handwritten faces for a total of ten typefaces spanning the casual spectrum. All are optimized for large type use too so they look as good up close as they do set at smaller sizes. OpenType features The Fave family has a few features that happen largely in the background. All of the fonts use the OpenType Standard Ligature feature to automatically differentiate consecutive lowercase letters and numbers (using separate glyphs) and like our previous release Turbinado, they also automatically differentiate like characters that are separated by another letter. Alternate characters The script fonts have alternate uppercase and lowercase characters including multiple t (and double t) crossbar alternates that can be selected from the OpenType glyph table. Enable Contextual Alternates feature to automatically insert a bigger crossbar as the surrounding letters allow throughout a text box or document. You can also make your own custom lowercase t and crossbar to fit any situation–all of the lowercase t ascenders and crossbars are available separately in the OpenType glyph table, and can be combined and moved around manually. When enabled, one automatically substitutes non-connecting alternate characters at the ends of words, the other substitutes even bigger t crossbars than the Standard Ligature feature does. Smart apostrophes and ligatures Other subtle but hopefully helpful features include smart apostrophes, which insert themselves between two script characters in common situations without breaking their connection, and a few ligatures that also make character connections more seamless.
