Jazz Trumpeter JNL is an unusual type design modeled after the title card for the 1945 movie comedy “The Horn Blows at Midnight” starring Jack Benny and is available in both regular and oblique versions. This Art Deco sans serif font has the distinction of being somewhat calligraphic, yet futuristic in its visual appearance… and even has some subtle hints of Blackletter influences.

Erle Stanley Gardner’s beloved lawyer “Perry Mason” first appeared on screen in a series of six films with Warren Williams starring in four of them. The hand lettered opening title for 1935’s “The Case of the Lucky Legs” is a classic Art Deco sans serif design, and is now available as Courtroom JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

This is the basis for Society Column JNL; which derives its name from the newspaper columns popularized in that era detailing the whereabouts of the "upper crust" of society.

Built in 1928 in Wichita, Kansas, the Uptown Theater started out as a movie house, but today still exists as a dinner theater. Online images of this vintage venue’s perpendicular wall sign show the theater’s name in an Art Nouveau influenced angular style with rounded terminals – similar to that of pen drawn sign lettering of the era. Adapted as a digital type font, Silent Film JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Grotbox is an interesting, if not startling, distressed punk font. There are two varieties: one with upright characters; the other with the characters rotated out of whack for extra informality. Legibility is maintained, despite the wild industrial feel of the typeface, and it's designed to grab the attention. ITC Ziggy was designed by Bob Alonso, who says it started out as phone doodles in the early 1970s." Alonso rediscovered the sketches years later, thought they revived the feel of the 70s, and decided to digitize the typeface. He liked the form of the letter Z best, so named the font Ziggy. ITC Ziggy reminds its designer of "elephant bellbottoms" and its style as a display face instantly evokes a nostalgia for the 1970s.
