Highbrow Cafetorium JNL is a very "minimalist" font in the sense that there's only the basic lower case characters and essential punctuation. The lettering is based on a neon-and-bulb wall sign for a long-closed cafeteria on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Florida. The 'b', 'd', 'k' and 'l' have unusually high verticals.

"It is quite delicious" - a quote by an English speaking kid, aged 3 in the kindergarten in which I work. Not only is that a very fine way of expressing your self (and remarkable at the age of 3!) But "Quite Delicious" also appear in the song "Why can't I be you" by The Cure.

Another jewel of the vast treasure of historical font designs was digged out and brought to life again. Due to the courtesy of the Quay Brothers, London, who yielded to me an age-old brochure of Albert Auspurg’s ‚Miami‘, released by Schriftguss in 1934, I was able to redesign this elegant font. This font which I called ‚Elbflorenz‘, a cognomen for Dresden, contains West and Central European type faces as well as those for Romanian and Turkish. To get access to the historical number sign please use either the OT feature additional ligatures or ordinals.

Hasan Ghada is an Arabic display typeface. It is useful for titles and graphic projects. The font is based on the simple lines of Modern Kufi calligraphy with new ideas for square shapes and geometric feel. It supports Arabic, Persian and Urdu. This font was designed in 2002 and the first version was released under name KactTitle in the typefaces group of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), which supported the Linux operation system. In 2007, I developed this font and created five weights of it.

Adolf Rusch von Ingweiler, was in the 19 th century known mysteriously as the “R'' printer. He was the first printer North of the Alps to introduce the new Roman style of type known now as Antiqua. He was active in the city of Strasbourg from around the early 1460's to 1489. One wonders if the unusual form of “R'' was a personal conceit. This font is, therefore, an Antiqua style font and has over a 1000 defined glyphs with wide support for medieval characters that have since fallen out of use. The baseline was slightly tidied up in order to give the printed text an even cleaner look than the original. The letters are very close approximations of the original type catalogued by the “Veröffentlichungen der Gesellschaft für Typenkunde des 15. Jahrhunderts” as Typ.1:103R GfT1197.

Scrungy Picnic is my handpainted all-purpose typeface with a fresh and legible feeling to it. With all-purpose, I feel that the shapes and organic feeling of each letter, suits designs such as a headline, massive text, toys for kids, candy, posters, invitations, signs...well, the list goes on and on! I've added 4 different versions of each letter, and they automatically cycle as you type - or you can pick the individual letters from the glyph menu!

Samuel Welo was a sign painter who had published in the 1920s and again in 1960 his “Studio Handbook – Letter and Design for Artists and Advertisers”, prolifically hand lettering all of the type style examples within the pages of the publication. In 1930 Welo also published “Lettering - Practical and Foreign”. From this book comes a thick-and-thin hand lettered Art Deco alphabet – now available digitally as Sightseeing Tour JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

ITC Skylark, from designer Patty King, is an alphabet with a strong handwritten character and calligraphic influences. The figures look as though they were written with a broad-tipped pen on rough paper. The result is a light stroke contrast, irregular outer contours, pointed stroke endings and a clear slant to the right. These characteristics lend the font its spontaneity and liveliness. ITC Skylark is best used for headlines and short texts in point sizes of 12 and larger.

Back when shop window decoration was done with a brush, every window designer had his own style. In this vein the sans serif Altrincham was created. But even as a text font, it has stood the test of time, since it is very easy to read even in smaller point sizes, thanks to its relatively large x-height. With the Altrincham Condensed and Altrincham Wide Bold two other fonts have been created to perfectly complement the font family.

These four typefaces, Berlinette NB, Lyonette NB, Marseillette NB and Parisette NB, were designed from the same basic shape, a geometric form that avoids strict horizontals and uses more offbeat triangular shapes. Parisette is a fanciful type that is both bouncy and biting. The frivolity and quirk of the narrow width is offset by the razor-sharp, hatchet horizontals, which require protective gloves when type setting. This is a good typeface for enigmatic signs at postmodern student demonstrations.

The cold, conservative strokes of a typical sans-serif/grotesque descend into a distinctive "bat-wing drip" in this subtly spooky font named after the band for which it was originally designed. Perfect for any wordings which project darkness or menace, yet still require an air of respectability. Business in the front, evil in the back. Comes packaged in both TrueType and OpenType formats with standard complement of alpha-numeric glyphs, punctuation marks, mathematical symbols, and European diacritics.

Thanks to the Quay Brothers, London, who provided me with original materials, I was able to revive Carl Otto Czeschka’s beautiful Czeschka Antiqua which was first released by Genzsch & Heyse in 1917. Since nowadays the word Antiqua rather refers to fonts with serifs, I dropped it, also because this fanciful font is a humanist sans. To get access to all ligatures, it is recommended to also activate the OT feature Discretionary Ligatures.

Praxis Next Variable Italic is a single font file that features an italic design with two axes: Weight and Width. For your convenience, the Weight and Width axes have preset instances The Weight axis has a range from Light to Ultra. The Width axis provides a range of condensed values. This Italic font is provided as an option to customers who do not need Roman (uprights), and want to keep file sizes to a minimum.

Grifa Slab is a chunky typeface with thick rounded slab serifs in 4 styles with true italics, ideal for very legible titles and with a hard and smooth aspect at the same time. You can use this font in editorial design for headlines, also for advertising and the design of posters, signs or posters, in all cases readability is guaranteed. The typography has a set of 525 characters (Latin Extended-A) and OpenType functions.

Suomi Script is a typeface with a twist (pun intended): it has more than 1600 ligatures with two or more glyphs connected to make it look like an odd hand-written script polished by ITC. With Open Type savvy programs this font automatically replaces single characters with the ligatures. Some hand kerning is needed here and there.

Amerio is a rough font that was made by Subectype Studio. It features a brush made feel and looks so fun. Every single letter has been naturally hand written, making this typeface unique. It was scanned and put together as a font. The font suits best for big headlines, logos, posters, book cover, quotes and much more.

Waiting For My Girl comes from a System of a Down song (Hypnotize). I was listening to it when I created this font and I liked the name! Waiting For My Girl is a script font - it’s quite loose and uneven, just like proper hand writing. It comes with double letter ligatures and a lot of character!

The original Headhunter shareware font was created in ©1992 by the famous D. Rakowski. It consisted of 63 unique skeletal Glyphs, including Capital A-Z, and a few bone symbols, but lacked lowercase and numerals. He has since abandoned his fonts to pursue other things. (You can download it from FontSquirrel for free.) I've always enjoyed this limited Halloween font, but its incompleteness had to be rectified; thus I took it upon myself to delve slightly into the world of typography, resulting in the birth of HeadhunterTwo. I've slightly reworked his original contribution and "fleshed out" more of the font than necessary. As of this writing, it consists of 777+ Glyphs and passes Underware's compatibility test for Latin Plus (Supporting 219 Latin based languages, which are spoken in 212 countries.)

Vintage Price Tags JNL comprises three sets of numbers in both ribbon, circle and star patterns which, when combined will produce point-of-sale price elements. The designs were re-drawn from examples found in an old wood type catalog, and are now collected in digital format. Ribbon-style numbers are found on the upper case keys. A through J have the large numbers, K through T are the smaller, underlined numbers. The remaining upper case keys contain the dollar sign, cents sign and the phrases "each", "for", "dozen" and "pair". On the lower case, the circle set of combination numbers are on the following keystrokes: The keys a through j are the left side semi-circle numbers and the "k" key is a blank left side semi-circle. The l through u keys are the right side semicircle numbers and the "v" keystroke is a blank right side semi-circle. The star set is on the standard numbers keys for the left side of the star, with the right side characters on the corresponding shift keystrokes for the number keys. In following the original design examples, a cents sign follows the numbers on the right side of the circle or star sets. The lower case w through z contain a left side star blank, a left side star with $1, a right side star blank and a right side star with small double zeros (to comprise a star shaped price tag for $1.00).

This is my new, completely worked over and fine-tuned Bodoni Classic for Europe (no Greek and Cyrillic). I have added a set of elegant Swashes (B) and 2 alternating uppercase swirly Initials (C) as well as two lowercase end-letters (D). The fonts A and B have extensive kerning, which the initials (C) don't need, they are aligned to replace the standard capital letter. The lowercase end-letters (D) are aligned to replace the standard lowercase letters, so you might need to add a blank after the swirl. Breaking the cycle of homelessness We are partnered with The House of St. Barnabas, a private members club in Soho Square, whose work as a not for profit charity aims to break the cycle of homelessness in London. Each purchase (of the family pack) comes with a one month membership to The House and 100% of the proceeds from sales of fonts go directly to the charity to help their essential work. This unique collection of 7 typefaces is based on the disappearing signs of Soho, at risk of being lost forever due to the ever changing landscape of the area. By re-imaging the signage as complete fonts, we have rescued this rich visual history from the streets and present the typefaces into a contemporary context for a bright optimistic future. FS Berwick Thanks to its humble tiled origins, this Egyptian serif type maintains a uniform character width, creating the irregular letter proportions found in the final alphabet. Broad-shouldered, the bracketed serifs firmly ground the font, whilst its extreme hairlines become a necessity due to the uniform width. Of note is the upside down ‘S’, to be found on the original sign on Berwick Street. Perhaps due to its ceramic origins, there is a surprising ‘slippiness’ to its final appearance. FS Cattle Cattle & Son is best described as a wide, but not overly extended, grotesque-style sans serif, showing a uniform width and carrying a robust strength to its form. Whilst lightly functional overall, the purposeful diagonal legs of the ‘K’, ‘R’ and the tail of the ‘Q’ add an urgency to its appearance. The reduced size of the ampersand gives away Cattle & Son’s hand-painted origins, and the oblique compacted ‘LTD’ found on the original sign is also included in the final set. This beautiful sign is tucked away under an arch in Portland Mews, sheltering from the weather. Perhaps this is why it has lasted so long. FS Century This somewhat elongated set of Roman capitals was originally rendered in paint circa 1940, but its roots trace back to the Trajan Column in Rome. Witness the slightly unbalanced ‘W’ and the painter’s hand is revealed. Century’s flared serif style is extremely short, sharp and bracketed. The ‘M’ is splayed and has no top serifs. Century has a uniform appearance of width, probably due to its sign-written origins. Yet is elegant, classic and exudes sophistication. FS Charity A true Tuscan letterform, the original is located on The House of St. Barnabas in ceramic tiles and was revealed in all its broken glory in 2014. FS Charity retains the option of using these incorrect characters (try typing lowercase in the test drive above and compare with the more uniform uppercase characters). FS Charity features fishtailed terminals on its strokes, a curious branched ‘T’ and the ‘S’ displays tear-drop ends to its serifs. Almost uniform in width, the ‘A’, ‘M’ and ‘W’ are the widest characters in this set. FS Marlborough The elongated Marlborough features diagonal terminals to some characters and numerals. Also retained is the space-saving contracted ‘T’ glyph from the original sign, while the ‘R’ features a distinctive wedge-shaped leg. Highly individual in this form, similar signage appears around Soho, but featuring a variety of widths in their design. FS Portland The sister type to Cattle & Son, Portland is oblique rather than italic. The serifs are not overly long, yet still enhance its rather rigid cap height and baseline appearance. Its ‘A’ has a top serif, the ‘M’ is square and the ‘G’ foregoes any spur. Particularly delightful is the open ampersand. Numerals align to encourage the horizontal flavour of the oblique style. Overall, Portland is both confident and graceful. FS St James A lineal Continental style, St James also displays a true sense of ‘Londoness’ in its titling form, perhaps influenced by early Underground signage. Irregular letterforms display a continental flavour, particularly evident in its Deco style ‘W’, ampersand and numerals. The rather high cross bar in the ‘A’ is also reflected in the raised middle strokes of the ‘M’. Noteworthy are the distinctive unions found on all of the characters and the additional small caps. The original lettering is still located on Greek St.

Soldier Stencil JNL is a re-working of a vintage example of a sign painter's "block" or "chamfer" font design into stencil form. The result is Soldier Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Typeface originally designed as a monospace font (single standard width for all glyphs). We needed that for a project where letters stood directly above each other. Eventually it became proportional, and only the digits have a fixed width.

Broadside is a versatile, authoritative and functional family inspired by the sans serifs seen on ’40s and ’50s patriotic posters and period advertising. It is available in seven weights across condensed, normal and extended widths, each with reweighed italics. The type from this period was very often hand-drawn, and so differs considerably from poster to poster. Many American examples of this period use a Photo-Lettering style called Murray Hill and its derivatives, although their UK counterparts, designed by such luminaries as Abram Games or Tom Eckersley, are more stylistically diverse. Even though no single model is available to base a digitisation on, there are certain recurring stylistic quirks that give the type its unique flavour, and so the most interesting examples from several sources were be combined for the final family. Alternate short descenders, allowing for tighter line spacing, can be toggled on or off in the Opentype panel of Indesign or Illustrator. Tabular and lining numerals and a single-story ‘a’ are also available in all weights and styles.

StudioSans — is a modern representative of the class of sans-serif fonts inspired by the traditional Swiss design and typography of the mid 20th century. Architype Universal is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals underpin the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Their ‘universal’, ‘single alphabet’ theory limits the character sets. Architype Ballmer is inspired by the experimental, universal letterforms drawn by Bauhaus trained Swiss designer Theo Ballmer for a series of 1928 posters, most notably for an exhibition on industrial standards. The grid-based square forms reference elements of De Stijl.

Bannertype is – at least for my feeling – the most German of all fonts. It was used heavily mostly in newsprint and advertising in the early 1900s. I designed a dirty version of the narrow font in 4 stages of dirtiness, plus one free shadow font. Since the font has too many points I cannot generate a OTF-version, I am over the limit for that. But I have tried this TrueType version and it works like a jiffy in MacOS 10.8.2!
