A few days ago, my good friend David from Hanoded.com visited me for a few days. We drank a lot of coffee and walked the streets of Copenhagen - we even took a trip up in Rundetårn! :) Well, on one of our walk (of course looking for inspiration for new fonts) we spotted this handmade sign. We agreed to make a font of the 7 letters available, using our own imagination and style! I called my font Mundbind DK and David named his Mundbind NL - of course it is the landcodes of Denmark and Holland. As you can tell, the font is uneven and somewhat unpredictable - following only the "rules" of the person who handprinted that sign ... and not many of the rules of the good old and respected painter who make beautiful signs ... however, this sign had it's beauty in a natural and innocent way.

Originally designed in 2012 by Ryoichi Tsunekawa, All Round Gothic is a font family inspired by classic sans serif fonts such as Avant Garde Gothic and Futura. All Round Gothic is a structured geometric sans, but also creates a sweet and cute atmosphere by removing unnecessary stems. Where the heck does a name like Chaloops come from? You know that Chihuahua that used to sell the tacos? Chank's mother-in-law calls him Chalupa. And the American pluralization for that must be Chaloops, because that's her nickname for her two little spoiled fuzzball dogs. Newcomen is a highly versatile titling face that includes 87 OpenType alternates and 38 ligatures. Newcomen titling, in its default form, evokes the Victorian era and is named for the British inventor of a steam engine for pumping water. Newcomen's flexibility is remarkable; the family includes four weights, and OpenType style sets are included that can alter the appearance of the face to either appear more dark and gothic, classical, include dots in the counters, and swash and "boxy" sets. Individual characters can also be selected and mixed and matched in OpenType capable applications for distinctive custom designs. A font drawn in a rounded rectangle looks modern – if we do not mind that it was in vogue mainly in the 80s of the last century and was created in the fifties, when various Italian designers noticed that the outline of a glass TV screen is actually the letter “o“. Since then, this progressive idea has undergone many improvements, which can be summarized in the notion of “popular-scientific typographic revival”. The present incarnation called “Superscience” has the advantage of having extreme variations and nicely simplified letters, as well as the usual repertoire of OTF functions and playful variations.

AndrewAndreas is a simple, clean, sans-serif font family that is highly legible and useful for both text and display purposes. The original three weights were designed in 1994 and three additional weights plus oblique styles were added in 2020. Also added were several OpenType features, including subscripts, superscripts, and fractions. The six oblique styles slant the upright styles but do not change the shape of the letters. My handwriting with a speedmarker turned into a font - well, not really, to be honest! Personally I did do all the writing of letters, but in order for the letters to fit perfectly together, I manipulated them - just a tad! But the result is a hasty set of letters! When I say I wrote all the letters, I mean it literally!!! All letters are unique, meaning all the accented characters are unique! On top of that, Laxory comes with ligatures for both double lowercase letters and numbers! You will need to use OpenType supporting applications to use the autoligatures.

Hand-hewn along the banks of the mighty River Raisin in Southeast Michigan, this heavy block typeface is the perfect addition to any design project in need of a stout, yet fun typographical treatment. Before this font made its journey into the outside world, it began its life as a 4B pencil sketch on cheap inkjet printer paper, as many of my projects do. This typeface, not unlike me, doesn't waste its time with finesse, or convention, and truly doesn't mind being a little bit on the thick side.
