Muscle came from the original sketches for Sneakers. At the time my concentration with Sneakers was to create a curvier, chunkier display. I left Muscle behind, thinking it was too masculine. Rather than discard those original sketches, I decided to make it even heavier, reduced the total number of weights, create a function small cap system that when integrated with the lowercase makes a great biform component for short display settings.

This font supports strong enlargements as easily as small size (legible from 6 points when printed) remaining very smart and fine. Its original cap height is about five millimeters. Decorated letters like 1512 Initials, 1550 Arabesques, 1565 Venetian, can be used with this family without anachronism.

I finally designed this simplified brush style script after years of frustration trying to find a font that can fit a need for short descriptors especially for packaging design. While this script does not replace custom script, it comes close - it even includes the underscore as in the sample type.

The shapes of "Blattwerk" (german for leafage) are based on an abstract leaf. The geometrical sans serif font has several standard and decorative ligatures and will work best as a display typeface for logos, headlines and short texts. Cinnabar Brush is a very bold, very outspoken brush font. It is all caps, but upper and lower case glyphs differ and can be mixed. It is a bit on the heavy side, so I wouldn't set a text in it.
