The inspiration for Jeeves came from Leslie Carbarga's wonderful book LETTERHEADS, One Hundred Years of Great Design, 1850-1950. It was based on a secondary type usage for the letterhead for Sutherland in New York. The rest of the letterhead had features that were more typical of the Art Deco period, but this script added a touch of timeless elegance. And since at the time I was reading every scrap of P.G. Wodehouse I could get my hands on, the name Jeeves seemed like a perfect fit. The font is loaded with a plethora of extra glyphs, ligature characters and OpenType features.

The family of Tipografia Maracatu was born in 2020 when we could not leave the house because of the coronavirus epidemic. I had no idea how it would turn out. I just wanted to draw letters. When I finished the regular version, I thought it looked a lot like the art and music from the Northeast of Brazil, and that is why I came up with the name Maracatu. Maracatu is a musical-style original from the Northeast of Brazil. After I had the font style and the Regular version, I thought it would be nice to have Bold and Light.

Australian typographer Harry Pears continues to explore ancient type forms while maintaining his consultancy business Typeface Research Pty. Ltd., of Lake Cathie, Australia. Born in Quirindi, Australia, Harry has had a long career in printing and graphic arts and has been the guiding force behind the creation of the Lindisfarne Nova family. Lindisfarne Nova Incised and Lindisfarne Runes are wonderful illustrative companions to the Lindisfarne Nova text fonts. In a unique partnership, Harry develops the concepts, and calligrapher Margaret Layson brings the designs to life. They both then work on the digital incarnation in a true collaboration.

The original design came from Berthold Herold typeface, designed by Hermann Hoffmann during 1913 (Art Nouveau style) in Germany. This project started from flyer printed during 1947 with movable type, the specimen was scanned as a source to development some of the uppercase letterforms. However the most unusual and tricky element from this sample is the leg from the uppercase (R) which is different from the original Herold design, until now I didn’t found where this version originally came from. This font family only contain the bold weight, but there are also a stencil and expanded versions available.

While helping produce a trade magazine years ago, I admired the hand-lettering of the art director -- a woman named Marydale -- and suggested she let me model a font after her penmanship. She agreed and drew out the alphabet, and I launched an old copy of Fontographer and (to shorten a long story) ended up developing my very first digital typeface. Which has since, astonishingly, become famous worldwide. So now the real Marydale gets the mixed blessing of seeing her handwriting (and name) plastered all over the planet. As usual with Sudtipos fonts, alternates are plenty and the personal touch is never amiss. On February 15, 1926, the Display Material Company of St. Paul Minnesota patented a sign making outfit consisting of a series of stencils in various sizes and styles, paints, brushes, instructions for use and all stored inside a convenient wooden case. Dead Space is a science fiction/horror media franchise created by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, developed by Visceral Games, and published and owned by Electronic Arts. The franchise's chronology is not presented in a linear format; each installment in the Dead Space franchise is a continuation or addition to a continuing storyline, with sections of the storyline presented in prequels or sequels, sometimes presented in other media from the originating video game series, which includes two films and several comic books and novels. I created this font by redrawing the alphabet in which the Death Space alien language is written.

Futuramano was the kind of typeface we scribbled in those old days, when I was an art-director in advertising agencies. We used it to simulate the headlines and the subheads, so the client could read what the copywriters had in mind. As Futura was the font of choice in those days (as it still is), our scribbled typeface looked much like Futura. The second half of the name “mano” means hand, so that is what it is, kind of a handwritten Futura. Futuramano is very practical if you want to have that unfinished touch! Heller Sans JNL is based on the main letterforms of an experimental alphabet designed by Steven Heller; noted author of over 170 books on design and visual culture. Some modifications were made in turning his design into a digital font. In his own words, here is the background to this typeface: “I recently recovered this from the junk heap. It is a yellowing photostat of my first and only typeface design (1969-70). Total folly! At the time I was smitten by Art Moderne lettering. I called it “Klaus Boobala Bold” because I liked the K and B. I’ve lost the letters S through Z, which were made. The letters were drawn with compass, Techno pen (that frequently clogged). as well as a triangle and T-square. The inline and outline made no real logical sense. I based the design, in part, on Kabel, Avant Garde and it was a product of whatever I could accomplish with those tools. The caps-only alphabet was photographed and produced as a film negative that was cut in foot-long strips and spliced to fit on a Typositor reel. Sadly, the negatives made for the font were too brittle and the splice snapped apart in the Typositor. I worked on it for well over a month and used the face only once. I realized with this attempt, like so many other times I attempted different challenges, that type design — indeed mechanical drawing — was not my strong suit.” Heller Sans JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Mono-Spec Stencil is a monospaced family of sans-serif type. At least in default settings, all characters across the typeface share a common width, which is immediately noticeable for its condensed nature. Mono-Spec Stencil is a sibling of a non-stencil family, simply named Mono-Spec. Characters in each are just as wide, allowing Mono-Spec Stencil to be used together with Mono-Spec, as a secondary typeface. As a typeface whose characters are stencil-shaped, this design channels the spirit of resistance and street culture. When you look at the family, remember that it ships in two different formats. Depending on your preference, you can install the typeface as a single Variable Font or use the family’s five static OpenType font files instead. Those weights run from Light through Bold. Futurum Parqez is the first collaborative font for Parquillian Design. The idea for this font first came to the creator, Jose V Lopez, almost 40 years ago. A couple years ago he shared his concepts and we were gradually able to collaborate on editing the designs and turn them into a working font. The philosophy behind the font is to use a standardized frame format and the fewest strokes possible, while maintaining legibility, to create an original minimalist and modern style.

Since the release of Wood Bonnet Grotesque No.4 the font became popular for packaging and adverts. But the font styles were limited to one worn and one clean font in a medium weight only. Bonnet Grotesque Nr [Narrow] will fill this gap. It’s based on Wood Bonnet Grotesque No.4 but slightly modernized with sharp corners. Some letters need more space now – so tracking is not the same. The Medium family style shares the same weight as the wood font version.
